I adore Portuguese music. I am from Russia and Fado music is similar to the genre called Russian Urban Romance. Also, they say that Russian sounds a little like Portuguese. Famous Russian/Soviet poet Vladimir Mayakovsky once said: when abroad people mistook us for the Portuguese. May favorite Fado songs are Asas and Guitarra Triste by Katia Guerreiro. It has a full year since this was posted. I hope you were able to visit Portugal or, at the very least, the plan is motion. If you have not done so yet here is some inside info. Fado music in Portugal is very notably distinct in the North, Centre and South (Porto, Lisboa and Alentejo). Coimbra, the city where the 1st University instituted in Portugal, has its very unique style as well. There, it is almost as troubadour music. Cheers

I've been a pro musician for over forty years, and I'd never heard of Fado until recently--shame on me. The concept of saudade permeates my heart longing for a loved one who passed much too soon. Fado has eased my heartache through saudade.

I understand you have to make a living and need to run the ads, but can you set it up so that an ad doesn’t occur in the middle of a song? It totally interrupts the mood and defeats the purpose of playing those songs that get interrupted. Too bad, because it’s such beautiful music.
