      A :) I use the old generation S5 and the quality is already good. The general improvements on version 2 are even more impressive. In the video I find the S52X more organic, the skin color and hand details a little more natural compared to DJI. Question of taste I guess

      Honestly, with how tech is progressing, in 2/3 years if they released an S5M3X, with 33mp, 8k open gate and no crop 4k60, and lower rolling shutter, why would you need to buy another hybrid camera ever again?

    • @Eyeofkamau
      @Eyeofkamau Před 13 dny +1

      @@acliffalay it would need more than 33mp for 8k, which would likely have even worse rolling shutter given how demanding such a readout would be. I find 8k is unnecessary for the most part. I’d prefer 6k and a sub 10ms readout, then it would be worth considering.

    • @acliffalay
      @acliffalay Před 13 dny

      @@Eyeofkamau you’re right 8k 16:9 is about 33 megapixels, so the 3:2 sensor would need to have more megapixels, and would end up being 9.5k open gate or something ridiculous?
      Not something I would want to be having to edit on my current computer setup…
      I love my S5ii, could do with it starting up faster though.

  • @JonathanPalfrey
    @JonathanPalfrey Před 14 dny +5

    Completely agree on the image of the DJI 4D being underwhelming and can't be under or over exposed. I'm not a fan of the Inspire 3 footage either which seems to suffer from the same problem.

  • @ShipLeague
    @ShipLeague Před 14 dny +5

    I don’t have the lumix so I can’t say, but I have the 4d and I would never go back from internal ND’s. Also, the image of the 8k 4d is amazing when exposed correctly, which is easy with internal nd’s. Do I mind the sticker price for everything in one place? No. I got tired of the rigging out process. I just grab the 4d and either go handheld or shoulder rig in 5 seconds. It is always ready. Works with my Sony g masters too so that made the voice even easier.

    I love my Panasonic camera and it's vLog colour space.
    I never realised how good vLog was until I watched a tutorial by Daria Fissoun who said the colour space was massive and up there with with Davinci Wide Gammut and Asces.
    Panasonic is definitely underrated by the masses.
    However DJI is the future and they will dominate camera form factors in the future.

  • @KDsburner-vg8vp
    @KDsburner-vg8vp Před 14 dny +2

    S5ii all the way. The smaller form factor makes it a lot more versatile for shooting in public. Because it looks like a stills camera you can get away with shooting and not being stopped. With the 4D you'll probably get asked for a permit or something. The S5ii is unmatched in value, sure you can get 4K 120, 4K 60ff better rolling shutter or low light on other cameras but they're more expensive or have a significant trade off like being a cropped sensor. I sold my BMPCC4K and once that thing is rigged out it probably becomes a lot closer in price to the S5ii. The less you need to set up the more likely you are to run out and use it. There's value in that alone.

    the reason that I have a ronin 4D and nothing else that's how confident I am in this camera system is threefold number one the ecosystem is unparalleled it not only has the best menus that I 've ever seen in a camera and yes better than black magic it also has unparalleled stability of course the only thing that is better is in a Steadicam and we know Steadicam rigs that achieve this smooth footage cost roughly 15 to $20,000 on their own so that's the thing and yeah I'm including the cart the rig the actual cam or the sled so now we have two of the things that can do best but on top of that the batteries are really good you can use the tb55 batteries by the way and get up to 4 1/2 hours of continuous battery for roughly the same cost if you buy them with two or three uses on them from eBay first of all swapping between the two the six and the 8K heads if you buy a 6K and then you want to upgrade later on to an 8K you have a clear upgrade path that doesn't make you swap camera bodies which means you don't have to buy a new accessories on top of all of that while people say your lens choices are limited their BSN first of all if you're using it in handheld mode where it's all locked off and you have some support on your lens you can really use anything second of all if you do use it on a gimbal you're right they are limited however we have had more great Cinema quality glass at such a low weight that the Ronin 4D can actually support like the lawwa of 35 mm Rangers those function perfectly and their parfocal of course you have the Athena's and nissi and so on and so forth so the lenses aren't as limited as some people make them out to be not to mention you can use a ton of vintage lenses as well University of the four different mounts across dl m e and l mount and then of course you have the flex cable which is another almost unparalleled thing that the Ronin 4D has to offer the only parallel in it being the Sony Venice Rialto system which runs last time I checked for $18,999.99 verses 1,000 for the flex cable so the menus are phenomenal the functionality is almost unmatched the setup time is ridiculously quick the skin tones are phenomenal the color is phenomenal d- log is great the variation of codex is amazing though full disclaimer it is BS that you have to buy a proprietary SSD to use the highest end codex let's move aside and yes it is heavy however if you already have $12,000 you should have another thousand bucks to spend on an easy rig and if you don't have a thousand you should be able to spend $400 on a flow line long story short Lumix S5 great camera love it to death however it is nowhere near the functionality of the Ronin for the especially not for the type of work I do and of course at the end of the day it is a one-man Workhorse of a cinema camera you will get in and you will get out faster than with any other camera system on the planet and the specialty if you're like me who works solo a lot of the time time is money money is time and being by yourself you take a lot more time to do everything else so any place that you can reduce time spent in more money earned apologies for any spelling mistakes and the lack of punctuation this is all been dictated as I am in the middle of actually playing a game of squad 44

    What happens when you do High E-Stabilization at 4K/60fps??
    (You normally get an APS/C crop at 60fps)

  • @mynameisslimshady
    @mynameisslimshady Před 14 dny +4

    Ridiculous comparison, but it was fun)) Let’s go to reality: even if we forget about crop on Lumix s5iix when it shoots 4k 60fps, but we still remember that there’s a delay by hdmi cable that connects to external monitor on Lumix s5iix - and that’s HUGE, you really can’t use external monitor properly for focusing while shooting - it’s ok only for shooting interview with tripod. Even if you switch off in Lumix sending audio via hdmi cable, it doesn’t fix the problem - that’s terrible, really terrible and it’s doesn’t look like software problem, it means that Panasonic couldn’t fix it with a new firmware. And that’s very odd, considering the full-sized HDMI port in Lumix s5iix.

    And the second negative thing, but personally for me - lack off optical pass filter that’s why Lumix s5iix has such problem as a moire - it means that you couldn’t shoot fabrics and all things that has many vertical or horizontal lines and repeating pattern.

For casual using, Instagram, TikTok, local brands, small CZcams channel - it’s ok, but it’s not about a cinema camera. Let’s don’t forget about the prise, you couldn’t buy anything like Lumix s5iix for this prise with all this features, but again, features like zebra, histogram, codecs and etc. that’s all do not make it a cinema camera. I really like Panasonic, but I don’t like when Lumix’s CZcamsrs squad talk all the time about how’s Lumix s5iix is great and do similar post at one moment, but don't talk about everything about the camera.

It’s a good camera, and it’s good for us - consumers, because it’s also about brand competition, and I really wait next Lumix camera, but guys, change the posting timing and camera praising policy, seriously, because it looks like you were paid by Panasonic and Panasonic asked all of you to make a video on the same subject (s5ii/x) at the same time to boost camera sales

      @@d2kinu874 so true! Honestly if I had to choose between the two, I’d probably choose the Panasonic (not just because it’s so much cheaper) but because of smaller form factor and faster workflow for my kind of run n gun work. And it seems like it can give 90+% of the image quality of the Ronin 4D for 10% of the cost. Kinda wild!

    Do you think there may have been a "Typo" at time tamp 7:50 where you say SD cards are a lot cheaper than an NVME SSD drive at V60 write speeds?
    Granted you don't have redundancy but it takes an age to upload a "shed load" of SD cards at roughly 90mb/s upload speeds and minutes to upload footage from an NVME drive with stupidly fast upload speeds.
    NVME for the win, provided you can live with the card sticking out the side of your camera or sitting in your pocket on the end of a very long USB C cable. That may give sweats of anxiety at the thought of last suggestion with a client breathing down your neck.😇
