Bro, Messi must have worked his ass off. His illness literally limits physical growth and development, and still he is 31yo and outrunning 20yo's. The "difference" you are talking about is actually Messi having a way higher mental speed to detect changes, passes and gaps to dribble through. And the only reason you "see the training in Ronaldo" is 'cause that's all he haves, everything he does is simple but well used, he plays his physicality to his advantage, but in a League like Calcio he has no chance of creating the play himself, those defenders don't chase, they wait and tackle, that's why he has only scored 3 tap-ins. That whole "born with talent vs worked hard" argument is stupid, they both work their asses off, Messi is just better in some aspect of the game that make him a more entertaining player to watch and a more dangerous player on the field.

If Messi had no match he would be absolute King as well. The same for Ronaldo. When you see that the last 12 Golden Balls where shared between Ronaldo and Messi just think for a second that Messi without Ronaldo would have taken it all. Ronaldo without Messi would have taken it all as well. These two are the greatest players ever, and we are fortune to live in a time when one could witness the extraordinary performance of both. I remember when he was still raw at United in his early days, his decision making, his shooting, heading, free kicks, aerial ability, physicality, passing, has all improved drastically. I remember when he first joined Madrid, he looked way better all of a sudden (could be due to the less physical league). Amazing how hard he trains even after all these years.

What you'll start to notice here when comparing the two (Ronaldo and Messi), is that while they're both incredibly talented, there are glaring stylistic differences between the two. Ronaldo is the show-off, the flashy skillster, the magazine cover, the model. He wants the fame, he wants the glory. He is the star. Messi, on the other hand, will do whatever it takes for his team to win. He never comes off his feet unless he's exhausted every other possibility, he won't go down in pain unless he has a legitimate injury, he would much rather continue the movement the team has started in order to create a goal, than seek a penalty. He almost consistently gets more assists each season than Ronaldo, because he's more selfless, but at the same time scores a phenomenal number of goals himself. He has humility, and tends to shy away from the spotlight unless it's too fulfill obligations for his sport and his club. Ronaldo is the better striker, but Messi is the better player. Ronaldo is the star, Messi is the icon.
