I had Xbox Wireless Headset for 12 hours but returned them without hesitation. Feature wise, price, comfort - awesome, but I couldn't have stand the sound quality. Even with all recommended EQ settings and lowering bass to minimum, mid frequencies were still mudded with heavy bass - meaning all dialogs, environment sounds, background music sounded basically bad (you can feel rumble in the mids). This bass heavy characteristic seems nice in the beginning but gets ears tired really quickly. I have a feeling, that 40mm drivers when pumping a lot of bass, are lacking power to produce precise mids and highs. I prefer more balanced sound spectrum with punchy, warm, but not rumbling bass. This can be only delivered by 50mm+ drivers. I've never tested Kaira Pro, neither TB Stealth 700, but have compared XWH to other wired 50mm driver headsets.
Out of the two: Kaira or Stealth - which one would you recommend for 'all-round' daily use, like gaming, movies, music, video-chat at work etc.?
PS. Awesome channel Techne! Keep it up!

I actually appreciate the Xbox Wireless Headset having a lot of bass because for one, a lot of gaming headsets lack bass. And two, with the built in EQ software, you can reduce the bass, get back a fuller sound but still not neglect the bass.

Right! You can always turn the bass down but most of the time you can never truly turn it up. At least to the point that actually sounds good. Xbox really outdid themselves with this headset (for its price range)

My xbox wireless headset has been getting disconnected from the xbox once a day. Not a big deal but that shouldn't be happening - it's annoying. It’s funny to hear you talk about the mic’s and pick the kaira over Xbox. I’m watching the video on my iPad, and when you were talking with the kaira I had to turn my sound up to hear you clearly, it was a little muffled and much softer. Then when you switched to Xbox, I turned the sound down again because it was much clearer. So over this platform I’d have to say Xbox was the winner there.

Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2's are better than both.
For 50 bucks over the MS wireless you get 50mm drivers, that slick smartphone app that allows you to adjust settings WHILE IN GAME ON YOUR PHONE (this is so understated. If you need to adjust anything with the EQ while a game is going on. You can't with the Microsoft or Razer cans. You have to exit the game, load up their respective app, make your adjustment, and then relaunch the game. Something you just don't have to do since TB was smart enough to put their app on your phone), A better mic than the Microsoft cans, ear cup foam that isolates amazingly with cooling gel and also having an adjustment for glasses wearers, and a mappable button for any feature on the headset.
Man that's a ton of value for that 50 bucks. Don't sleep on these. They're damn good.

  • @CMFGAR
    @CMFGAR Před 3 lety +2

Right now I have both the Xbox headset and SteelSeries Arctis 9x.
    The sound:
The Xbox headset is alot more bassy compared to the 9x but, the 9x has clear sound with not much bass. These two headsets are very different when it comes to sound.
    The buttons and accessibility:
The Xbox headset is easier to use as the power button on the 9x doesnt always work the way it should. With the 9x you have to hold the power button for 5 to 10 sec before they turn on vs the 3 sec on the Xbox headset. The volume and chat controls on the Xbox headset are easier to access and more fun to use.
    The microphone:
I tested this with going into a party with the Xbox headset on where they know what the 9x's sound like already and they said "yo did you get a new headset. It sounds different, sounds muffled." Now I tested the mic by using the voice message feature on xbox and didn't notice a big difference.
    Comfort:
I didn't notice a big difference when it came to comfort other than the texture. The swivel on the 9x is not a big deal for as I don't use it ever(In my opinion it's a useless feature). The Xbox headset sits firm on your head and when you sneeze they don't come off. Now the 9x on the other hand sits firm but, when you sneeze or look down with them on they will fall off every time.
    Overall:
I'm still doing more testing with the sound as rn now I'm using the Xbox headset for the weekend and then on Sunday will use my 9x for the day and see if I notice a big enough difference to either return my xbox headset or sell my 9x on ebay.

So the takeaway is that both headsets are incredibe, but different.
I have the xbox headset and I freakin' love it! Although I think I fall more into the same usage scenario as you (predominantly Fallout 76, GTA O, Forza Horizon 5) but I might just have to pick up a Kaira (not pro) at some point just for the occasional competitive FPS as I do like COD Modern Warfare despite the fact that i absolutely suck at it.
I'm kinda surprised the 50mm driver in the Kaira Pro is brighter though
As a bit of a side note, I wonder how the xbox headset would perform with kaira earpads (and vica verca) as it looks like they should fit (and pads designed for SS Arctis fit both) as I know earpads have a definite impact on the sound characteristics

Been a staunch Astro man for years, since getting the new Series X Console we don't have EQ's anymore on the Astro's so pretty much useless as that was the whole point in personalizing your sound needs. Not been overjoyed with Razer in the past having tried quite a few of them. Watched this and went for the Kaira's, boy glad I did, they are Stinkin Comfy, Stinkin great sound wise, Stinkin Awesome, love your settings, work a treat.

@@g40chris I used two setups, Gen 4 Astro A50's and I used a Gen 4 A40 Mix Amp alongside Senheiser GSP 600's for my wired set as just prefer wired for chat when gaming with my mates, imo nothing could touch either of these sound wise, however, the whole point of them was to be able to mess with the EQ's as it made the Astro's really shine sound wise, without the EQ the A50's now sound really muddy/muffled and although the A40 amp still sounds the better out of the two it doesn't come close to these Kaira's, I have tried these on quite a few games now and would love to pick fault in them but I just cant, super comfortable, light, perfect connectivity and enough volume and Bass to make your ears ring if you need it and no complaints at all with the Mic from myself or my mates, not so with previous Razer's, a £90 headset that spanks a £300 headset and from Razer, my least favourite headsets up to now. There are a few negatives going around, but what headset doesnt have those. If Techne was in the UK I would have sent him the A50's to do a side by side against the Kaira's on the Series X , that would be an interesting one to say the least. I bet you Astro will be releasing a Series X A50 or similar fairly soon as the current ones are a bust on the Series X, I wouldn't recommend anyone buying them and it beats me that these still figure in some reviews as the best headset for the Series X. I will be picking up the Xbox Wireless as well as soon as available, why not? Oh and finally, Techne's settings for these are bang on for me personally and the perfect start settings for those who may want to tweek just a tiny bit.

The Xbox ones have the function to turn on in sync mode without turning the console on, but the Kairas will only sync after being on, so by then the console is also on.
Why have bluetooth at all then if using it independently will require either disconnecting the Xbox from the power or not being at home. Crazy.
