Recently got diagnosed with acute appendicitis and had my appendix removed. Walking through all that info was consistent with how that night of diagnosis played out from my (patient) perspective. Very informative video.

If the diagnosis of appendicitis is clear based on clinical symptoms and history, at least for test purposes, the next step is appendectomy. I know in practice everyone gets a scan (never seen an AXR done), but I just got a question the other day over this and the right answer was appendectomy.
Afaik controversial! Acc to our teacher you can go either for a) appendectomy b) US (esp. in young) c) CT --> I get your point
You are right I agree. And that's what I see In practice. If you are sure about the diagnosis clinically specially if the patient is Male then u can proceed to Appendectomy if not, if you have an alternative diagnosis u are consider then u do an Abdominopelvic ultrasound....Never seen Abdomjmal X ray

Why not an Abdominal Scan prior to CT with contrast? Esp that Abd X Ray is not more helpful than clinical diagnosis.
Pain medication should be given once the diagnosis is made. The pain is useful in the assessments prior to arriving at a clinical diagnosis.

Haha.. this was recorded in 2014. I was just using my laptop. The mic itself was fine. The background noise you're hearing is from the fans which prevent the computer from overheating. Nothing I could do about it. Now I mostly use an iPad Pro to record.
