i know mvs can be interpreted differently but i took it as a message of being your own angel. only you know the hardships and pain that you go through. as hard as it is, sometimes you just have to remember to take care of yourself through the hardships and pain, even when it’s hard. as someone with anxiety and depression, this song feels like a warm hug and pinch of the cheek-a reminder that things will get better.

In my opinion, the meaning behind the music video is that every child or teenager who suffers, has an angel taking care of them. This angel is the adult version of themselves. It's them but adults. We can't see them but they are next to us holding our hand and telling us it's going to be okay. Just like the scene where Lee-Hi sits next to the little girl, the adult version of every child/teenager who suffers is right beside them keeping them company whether it is a sleepless night or a very bad day. Thank you Lee-Hi for another masterpiece. You truly inspire the world.

She said the girl in the beginning in black and white dress (her current self) was making a bad decision (ending her life). So the angel version of herself goes back to the past to make good memories with the same girl (her younger self) in order to comfort her. So in the end her current self decides not to go through with it. So all 3 girls in the MV was actually her. She saved herself.

I remember when the summer this song came out. I went straight to CZcams and checked out the MV. And after that, I was obsessed with this song. I had it on every playlist and wrote down every piece of lyric. This song really resonated with me in a way that I can’t describe, but it leaves me warm. I can’t say things have gotten much better since this song come out and thins maybe have gotten worse in some ways. But the fact that I’m still here means that I haven’t given up and alone is enough for me to hope a little bit more. I usually read the lyrics to this song during hard nights and let it comfort me. I hope one day I will look back at this song and feel proud over myself that I’ve overcame the hardships. I’ve considered jumping off my life, but I feel a strange fondness over my body and my life. As scarred as they are, they’re still mine.

As long as you feel better, that's the main thing. That's how you accept yourself, that's how you realize the people who will support you and who love you just the way you are. My theory of this perfect MV looks like this:Lee hi is an angel who protects a girl but not just any girl, this girl is Lee Hi when she was younger, in the scene where the girl throws herself into the water, she was trying to dr0wn, in the end, Lee Hi appears floating in the water showing just that. Lee Hi: Personally, when I thought about this song, it comforted my mind. When I was singing it, I was hoping it could comfort people going through a lot of things. It’s chaotic lately, you know? The same comfort that I felt when I received the song, when I made the lyrics, I want to share. I was thinking about how loneliness doesn’t only take place when you’re alone. MV Explanation/Theory:
Holo 홀로 means alone in korean. MV begins featuring a girl in blue/black (Hayi) looking out in the night. Then when the sky brightens, the girl in blue (representing depression/loneliness) dangles her feet over the edge of the building as if she’s contemplating jumping. Hayi in white (morning/hope) sings that loneliness feels the same with or without company, then she leans against the girl dressed in blue and pats her back @0:47 reassuring her that “one day it will stop.”
Then we see a cartoon on TV with the lyrics “isn’t everything supposed to happen as it’s said or thought,” almost as if her childhood self naively believed this to be true. She's so lonely that she can’t even enjoy the simple pleasures of “basking in the sunlight,” and “not even a deep breath” (ref to her song Breathe) can make things better. Then we see a young girl (her childhood self) lying in bed, and a hand belonging to angel Hayi reaching out to her @1:11 with the same lyrics “one day it will stop.” The tempo picks up at the same time a there's lyrical shift from the earlier melancholy tone to Hayi deciding she'll "stop crying, stop feeling, stop thinking about you."
Hayi runs and plays with the child as she sings she’ll start to take care of herself more. After countless of sleepless nights, she finally understands that she’s “too precious to sit around and worry” about how she compares with others: “It’s okay to be yourself.” The MV plays with altitude/elevation with Hayi diving into the water towards the child (*blue* swimsuit), as she’s searching within herself and when she climbs the staircase representing personal growth. It seems as if Hayi has found herself and she no longer wants to end everything, whether by drowning or jumping, anymore.
Then Hayi and the girl are enjoying themselves again in the sunlight, something that didn’t make her feel better before. She keeps on spinning (playground, rooftop) because her thoughts are cluttering her mind but “*I’m* going to stop.” Hayi stands still. She questions if being alone and staying still is that difficult? One day it will stop and the camera pans to a bright sunny day. Essentially Holo touches on our feelings of loneliness and societal pressures, but through this song, Hayi asks us to look within and accept ourselves. To give ourselves hope and comfort to continue on. You are your own hero, savior, and angel. This is evident as the MV purposefully chooses to only feature Hayi as she's the child, the lonely girl in blue, girl in white, and angel. It’s a perfect sequel to “Breathe” and notice how both MVs have Hayi standing on top of buildings looking out on the Seoul skyline.

Additional details after rewatching: The cartoon from @1:00 to @1:05 features a fairy godmother granting a chipmunk's wish for wings. At the end of the mv, a single white feather means that a spirit from beyond is watching over you or that the person who is passed on is nearby. It also could mean that everything will be okay even tho it may not seem like it at the moment. I have a feeling the feather might be alluding to the passing of Jonghyun since Lee hi held him very close to her heart.

I actually think the feather symbolizes her in the beginning it is shown how the feather is still flying (her jumping of that building) but before she jumps she thinks back to when she was a (sad) young girl so she "sings to her past self" that one day she is gonna stop crying feeling and thinking because she has died and in the end the feather symbolizes how she felt and landed but jeah it is also just a speculation of mine

I just noticed these details:
At the very beginning Lee Hi is at the edge and the siren in the background is the sound of the paramedics, probably to save her from a suicide attempt.
So Lee Hi goes back to her childhood and meets her younger self and basically tells her that it will stop and that the things do get better. To love and value herself more. She is her own saviour, her own angel. And so at the end though her problems may still be there, she assures herself that it will end one day, that nothing is forever- not even the pains and the heartbreaks.
Honestly I started tearing up the moment she soothes herself and says one day it will stop at 0:49
This is such a beautiful song and I can relate to it so much. I had such a hard time, fighting my own demons and struggling to find meaning in life. I always used to wonder if those thoughts and the hard times would even have an end like other people said. I thought it wouldn't end just for me. That the pain was forever.
But I fought through it and sometimes talked it out with friends, mostly wrote my feelings down and just focused on healing myself and I can now say that IT DOES GET BETTER. That those horribly dark days do have an end and sunshine will once again touch our lives.
It may get hard again in the future as that is just how life is, but this time I know it with all my heart that it does get better and it does end. I hope everyone will overcome their own demons too one day.
