- John McLaughlin has taken jazz fusion into weird and wonderful places. And the British guitarist is returning to his 1970s roots, by recording a new Shakti album. That's the legendary band he lead alongside Indian violin, percussion and Ghuh-tuhm players. But the ever prolific musician shows no sign of slowing down despite being 80 years old.

I love this guy. We are blessed to have been able to enjoy his art for 50+ years. His gratitude and humility is inspiring.
I was gonna say something to match your words, but couldn't find any better ones.
@@RedRose4711 Me too! I was saying to myself 'I love this guy' about 3 minutes into the interview. It blew my mind to see those 4 words start the first comment I saw.
Dear Mr. McLaughlin : I was Blessed to your music in the 1970's , and am possibly your biggest fan. Your music changed the course of my life, and allowed me, after 40 years of devoted practice, to culture and explore the music within myself (it's on CZcams). You helped to find a reason and definition for my life. With you , I had someone I could look up to , and with your wonderful playing , I had the inspiration to devote my life to the guitar, and all music. May God Bless and keep you (my fellow Englishman). Simon Chowins
I've been listening to John's music since 1974, I was 14 back then. I hope he never finds the flying soucer that brought him to this planet so that he stays around continuing he's incredible musical journy . Thank you John!!! By the way, are you the one?...rsrsrs
Great Job from the Lady…… and John Mc Laughlin speaks so wonderfull……
Music has no GOAT, John is in the highest class for musicians playing guitar. Truly his shows are the finest that I have attended. Peace & love
He is the best of us in all ways.
Many years ago, I was introduced to this wonderful music and I was at a monastery in California. One of the visiting monks was Br. David Stendhal-Rast has gone on to share his thoughts about 'gratitude' and there is, unfortunately so little gratitude in our world. So much negativity. This was a beautiful interview, thank you.
The humble Master , always an honor to see and hear him
John IS the best living guitar player. 100% of other living guitarists would agree. It's simply a fact!

I’m lucky to have met John in Northern California after his 4th dimension show. The most gentle soul I’ve had a pleasure to meet. John autographed the back plate of my guitar. That guitar sounds amazing with his spirit having touched it.
Wow this interview is a gem. The interviewer asked well tempered questions and has a huge part of making that interview so special. My first ever record of John McLaughlin was the legendary "Friday Night in San Francisco". Three GOATs united and i could from the first ever beginning of this fandom feel the spirit of this interview. His words filled my heart with joy and confidence.
Music saves the spirit soul and heart of the person who plays..thank you John McLaughlin
God Bless 🎼🎸🙏😇❤️
This guy is a huge inspiration to me as a guitar player, I’m 28 and this is just incredibly inspiring how he has just continued to play through the decades. Love his work with Miles Davis and Mahavishnu Orchestra, I’ll need to check out Shakti

He didn’t take it to weird places. He took music to places beyond. 🎶
Visions of the emerald beyond!
God bless you Great Guitarist I have you in my heart....
So much respect and gratitude to you Dear Sir.
John es para mi un sentido de vida, veo lo caracteristico de un genio, La Humildad, siendo un virtuoso, estas caracteristicas solo las veo en personas muy contadas, Gracias por la musica John y Gracis por compartir
Maestro speaks the truth...
The Indian spirit has really penetrated this yorkshireman
Certainly has-I was wondering where his South yorkshire accent went-he sort of sounds slightly Indian-top bloke though.
Dude looks hella healthy for 80! Hope he remains that way for long.
You're my IDOL 🎸🙏💕🎼🎵🎶
Maestro McLaughlin !
God bless you, John !!!
Love the birds in the background
Wonderful Interview!
“Is a blessing from God”
John McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia, Larry Coryell, Al di Meola: "MEETING OF THE SPIRITS"...
KLASSE MÜSIK MANN !!!
Lovely interview.
he was good friends with R.i.p. Jeff BECK ; odd couple you might say. But , both lifelong dedicated guys !
Just ask "what's next"? "What excites you musically right now"?

Deep Guy 👍🏾💽
Mahavishnu!!!!!!

She's a horrible interviewer though credit for trying. This is not her first language. John let's her down easy, and always remains the distinctive artist and gentlemen that he is. TY.!
I thought so too. I don't think she knew who he was.

John is the best!
I take it that John is not a fan of death metal.
I doubt it.
I can think of quite a few better guitarists than McLaughglin- I think he's a boring musician- he could do better with his talent and ability. 'Adventures in Radio Land' is an example of his more interesting work.
