Wa alaykum salaam sis it’s best to ask a scholar for full clarity, I wore this in summer but wouldn’t in winter, I live in the UK so if I was to wear a dark colour like black during summer I would stand out more, it depends on the norm of your society xx
I wouldn’t say there much of a difference it’s just terminology, An Abaya is usually loose fitting and worn over your clothes, I guess I did the same here with this 😄

Abayas don't have the same shaping as dresses usually abayas are to conceal the shape whereas most dresses enhance it if you get what I mean
