      That’s aggravating. I was happy to get rid of it but I do miss the gas mileage

    My 2018 Elantra is doing the same thing. I've taken it in 3x, to two different dealerships. They can never replicate it and claim ignorance to the problem. My bigger headache is the engine problems.

      I feel your pain! I had ticking, piston slap going on in my 2014. The dealership acted like it was no big deal. They said nothing was wrong 😑. Got rid of it last week and got a 2018 VW Tiguan which I am much happier with!

    I had the issue you're describing, ended up being the strut bearing and was only noticeable when turning. Luckily my dealer caught it and fixed it, only for the bearing to grenade itself when I left the dealership, second one was good for 5000 kms and is making noises again... Seems like a common issue.

    To update my comment from a year ago, after the FIFTH time taking into the dealership with no resolution and leaving them a bad review online, they took my car back for further diagnosis. They kept it for 3wks and gave me a nice loaner vehicle. They ended up replacing the front left strut assembly. I no longer hear the creaking noise when I turn sharply to the right pulling into my driveway. However, I do still occasionally hear it under different conditions. At this point, since it's so much less apparent, I'm just going to live with it until it gets really bad again, if that should happen. Aside from a software update, they did nothing to resolve the excessive engine pinging, hesitation, or loss of power. It's all still there. I do notice now the temp gauge reaches operating temp a lot faster, though it seems to be an untrue reading because there is not full heat from the heater when it initially hits the full operating temp mark on the gauge. It still takes a few minutes longer of driving with the gauge showing full operating temp the whole time before I actually get full heat. Keep in mind, I live in Florida, so it's not even that cold here.

    Before I bought mine I did some research on them and came up with the 2018 was the best year to buy. I’m just hoping the knock noise when I’m backing out of the driveway doesn’t get worse if so looks like I will have to take it in. It has 54k on it

    My Elantra 2017 was doing the same noise when turning right. Now it's fix. We have a TSB here in Canada about it. It's the stopper of the left engine mount. They changed a strut, an axle, tightned bolts, and it kept doing it. Now it's done and i'm sooooooo happy!!!. Check my Channel i have some videos

      Danick Laliberté I have a 2017 Elantra that makes the same noise when turning right over bumps. It does it mainly in cooler temperatures but not in the summer. Does this sound like the same issue you had? My local dealer replaced both front strut mounts and bearings and it is still making the noise. Is it the left engine mount when you have the hood open and are looking at the engine (passenger side) or left as in the driver’s side? Thanks so much!

    I have had the same issues with mine. The problem is, I live 45 minutes away from the nearest dealer. I took it 3x and they replaced the motor mounts each time...temporarily fixing the problems. You would not believe the back and forth and the confrontations I had with my dealer getting this issue looked at. This is RIDICULOUS that they cannot provide a permanent fix for this.

    Did you drive the car in flood heavy rain it could be the ball joints when i drive in water it wash out the grease and metal rubbing on metal you could put some grease in the ball joints or some WD-40 to get in between the metals to stop rubbing on each other to stop the squeaking

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum Před 3 lety

      I noticed the creaking front end noise is worst in the cold too. I live in FL and it's been over 90 for the last few months. I haven't heard the noise since last winter. I won't be surprised if I start heading it again come next winter. More frustrating than that issue though is my engine has never run correctly, since brand new. Engine hesitates badly and surged while accelerating. Feels like the car is dragging an anchor half the time and the engine pings. I love the car, but the driveability issue sucks all the joy out. Check engine light has never come on. Dealer says nothing wrong with the car, but there clearly is.

    • @Ronnocbot
      @Ronnocbot Před 3 lety

      palebeachbum Yeah I haven’t noticed mine at all in the summer ether. I live in Cali so it’s hot here too. Luckily my engine has been running perfect. Knock on wood, had mine over a year and never had an issue with it. Maybe your timing is off. If it’s hesitating like that the timing belt could have something to do with it. Sorry to hear about that

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum Před 3 lety

      @@Ronnocbot there's a known problem with faulty ignition coil packs on the 2.0L Atkinson engine. Pretty sure that's what's wrong with mine. The dealerships say they can't do anything until the check engine light comes on. Strangely, in over 1.5yrs and 17k miles of dealing with the poor running, the CEL has never illuminated. So I'm just stuck driving my new (ish) Elantra running poorly for the time being. Really sucks.

    Q: Is your 2018 Elantra a 4 Door Model, or the GT? I ask because the 4 Door Models are made in the U.S.A., while the GT Models (far better built and less susceptible to problems and/or recalls), are made in S. Korea.

      I wouldn’t say it’s so much the engine but I think just this model elantra had those issues. I’ve seen some videos with some elantras with the turbo doing the same thing as the 2.0.
