Such a joyful crowd! This song rocks and rolls because of the answering call that involves the singers. Fantastic stuff! Written in 1961 by Phil Medley and Bert Berns. Recorded by the Isley Brothers but most people remember the Beatles' version.
When “Twist and Shout” by the Isley Brothers was first released, it was just one of innumerable songs of the huge Twist craze. By the time the Beatles version became popular in the US in early 1964, the Twist as a dance was outmoded and ignored even though anything by the Beatles was a hit then. The song’s continuing fame today comes from when it appeared in the 1980s in the finale of the film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” when a big crowd of people watching a parade in Chicago joyously sing and dance to it.
@@Eugene_Connor The Isley Brothers were the second group to record "Twist and Shout", but theirs was the version that was a major hit; the previous one was unsuccessful and remains unknown.
All kind of people dancing together and having fun. Music makes the world better. Music unites people.
Look at these beautiful people smiling ear to ear and dancing.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could live every day like this and all get along!
Beautiful seeing all kinds of people having FUN TOGETHER!!!
Oh my goodness, this song is still popular after decades, unbelievable 👍
Most people don't realize this is a cover song which is even more unbelievable.
@@milesfann33 Correct. Its one of the few Beatles hits they didn't actually write

Without music, life would be a mistake.
There are parts of the world where music is forbidden.
A world without The Beatles is a world that's infinitely worse.

It’s not an Isley Brothers song.

@@hebneh unknown? It was recorded by the Top Notes.
@@Eugene_Connor It's still unknown except to people who look it up on Wikipedia.
@@hebneh Now that you know it’s not an Isley Brothers song, and they weren’t even the first to record it, you should edit your post.
