His performance on Blow By Blow is a masterpiece that will live forever.
Farless Thanmore agreed!
I agree!
What a lovely intelligent man. Blow By Blow is still one of the most influential drum albums of all time.
Thank You Richard Bailey
MrRlwiley thanks so much for stopping by and watching. Totally agree with you there - a lovely gentleman and legend drummer! 🤩
You're welcome.
I'm a total guitar head and huge Jeff Beck fan especially of this era of his music but I'm just blown away when I listen to the drumming from Richard Bailey on Blow By Blow and the fact he was so young is simply astounding!!!
G Burns agreed! At any age it’s incredible - but in one so young! Yet he possesses such musical maturity even then. 🤩thanks so much for stoping by ! 😃
I'm a drummer and Jeff Beck is my hero. Blow By Blow is exceptional! I started playing at 8, like Richard, and he was also my hero when Blow by Blow came out. Still can't get over the fact that he was 18 or 19 when he played on that album. Unbelievable music that has changed my life!
Jeff Beck Blow By Blow was my intro to this snappy precision player..
Great stuff.
BIG Stick thanks for stopping by! 😎
Extraordinary drummer!!!
I love Blow by Blow,Jeff Beck ,Richard Bailey Philp Chen and Middleton, its amazing album!
Legend. And musical genius for his feel, groove and musicality on Blow By Blow alone, at such a young age. The drumming on that album had such an impact on me, I always wanted to learn his story and hear what he has to say. Thanks for making this interview
Thank you so much for watching and your comments ... they made my day 🥰
What a shame that he's so unknown. This guy is easily one of the best ever. He was only 16 when he recorded Blow By Blow. 16! And he was playing crazy sh*t that very few could play today. Even as a guitarist, I love hearing Richard play. Such a natural genius.
I met Jeff Beck at the Roxy while watching Toto. I asked him who the drummer was on Blow by Blow, etc. He lit up with a big smile and told me it was Richard Bailey! Been a drummer myself since 1972 and this man is a FAVORITE! Alan Sweets of ASP....
Saw him in Sydney live with Incognito totally unaware he was going to be the drummer that night. Awesome. Huge fan
Bet that was an awesome gig 🤩thanks for stopping by 😃
Hes up there with the best of the best
Richard Bailey has a lovely feel, that makes everyone else in the band sound better. I saw him at a couple of jams, & everyone wants to play when he's behind the kit.
zivkovicable 🤩😍🎶👌🏼 ✌🏼
Being a drummer...he is my favorite drummer!
One of the best Undsung UK Drummers.. A total Hero...Love his Playing....
czechman09 agreed! Thanks for stopping by :-)
Jeff Beck should hire Mr Bailey again because of his amazing musical background and unique playing ability. His latin percussion skills give him an intensity and very musical approach to kit playing which are unique and rare. Richard has left his mark on the drum world as he is asked very frequently about his contrabution to the blow by blow album. Great player and muscian!!!
Saw Richard with the breakfast p player band in Cricklewood in the 80s asked him if he read and he said no blew me away great player
Absolutely! Thanks so much for stopping by 😊
Fabulous player! Great interview.....
Mark Donnelly thanks very much & thanks for watching ! :-)
Great interview , im a big fan Richard Bailey
Angel Landicho ah thank you for watching ! Yes he is a star isn’t he 🥁🤩🎶
Great drummer, would love to see some Richard Bailey lesson videos. Many thanks for doing the interview.
martin james agreed! Thank you very much for watching! Laura :-)
legend.!!!
I'm on the good part of youtube. I forgot it existed!! Very good drummer, I first heard him on Snowy White's records
Bad Alibi thanks for watching! :-)
Love Richard Bailey. He is so good. Love watching him play. Lots of rythmn.
He was very young when he started. Anyone can start any talent or discipline at any age and be come a master. But when a child soon becomes a phenom. It's most likely the 10,000 hour.
Down to earth man very humble …
I am with you on the Dawn as best part of the day.....Loved watching you with the BB back in the day ? Some of that stuff with Annise was amazing...Very wise words on musicality over technique for techniques sake. There are so many great unknowns and at the end of the day, comparisons are odious.
Graças a Deus posso dizer que tive o privilégio de ter e ouvir "Blow by Blow" musicos fantásticos todos eles, mas o baterista dá show, show.
Great feel
Great interview! I'm a former drummer (in my late 60's) and remember hearing Blow by Blow and thought thee drumming was absolutely insane for the time. Never looked into who was the drummer at the time but got to it today and after a number of articles I ended up here! Soooooo many of Richard's comments were very easy to relate to! ^5!
Aah really glad you found the interview! Thanks so much for watching and for your kind comments too! Have a look at some of my other interviews and tell me what you think also 😁best wishes, Laura
Really interesting...lots of drummers seem to be flute players too (the exact opposite of drumming?). I also play flute. I know he only seemed to have a few lessons but nevertheless... Also there was some mirth about him getting his first kit (late!) at 10 years old. I was nearly 20! Re the drumming on 'Blow by Blow' - it is quite amazing! Now I've heard it was second/third take stuff...just incredible! Richard is an interesting, intelligent and honest chap. Thanks for this interview.
Drum Bragg agreed! Thanks so much for watching and your comments too! Laura :-)
🔥🙌🏾 Respect 😎💫
love it!!
Udo Matthias drums ah thank you Udo!
A true master and my first Teacher and inspiration to play Drums!!
and Cymande !
Richard Bailey is the best drummer Jeff Beck ever knew.
Drum intro to freeway jan
Does the hand signal you give at 45:22 signify "I Love You"?...even though the thumb is inward and not sticking out? i'm just wondering.
what about Batty Mamselle, around the Jeff Beck era or just before??
Batti Mamzelle
re: What makes a good drummer?, dead on, plays the song, dynamics, great interview, and drum solos are over rated, I don't believe in them
905Alive thanks so much for watching and your comments! That’s lucky... I can’t do a drum solo 😜🤣
