Using an ICE AUGER to Drill Fence Post Holes - Pasture Pig Fencing

I put my ice auger to work when drilling out all the holes for my pasture fence. It worked really well! I will say that we don't have much for rocks in our soil so that really helps. Definitely be careful when trying this it can be pretty wicked!

Just a standard Ice Fishing auger. It is pretty old, likely produced in the early 90s.

I dont advise this with an ice auger anyway, There's a reason an earth auger has 2 sets of handles for another person. If you use an ice auger and you happen to strike a root or rock in the dirt , that's going to be a world of hurt for you. I know someone who did this and he struck a tree root in the ground and the powerhead tore out of his hands violently and dislocated his shoulder.

Agreed that this is a dangerous move in some cases. I didn't have any issues and don't have a ton of rocks in my area. I did hit a couple of roots and it was rough but I was fine.

There are one man earth augers too. They just have a shut off lever that hits your leg if you hit a rock or a root.
