At 12:00 PM, The City of Lawton Oklahoma conducted a Weekly test of their outdoor warning sirens on Monday, January 3rd, 2022. The test consisted of a 2 Minute Alert.
This siren is located at NW Cache Rd & Hankins Dr. The sirens are Tested every Monday of the month at 12:00 PM, Weather Permitting. The test usually runs for about 2 minutes, 3 minutes on the first Mondays of the month. It seems like all of the 20V2Ts in Lawton cut off at about 2 minutes, while the rest of the system continues to wail.

That’s how most of the DC only Sentry sirens sound. They hammer the batteries every time they run and wear them down pretty quick. It’s worse with the bigger sirens, and these 15Vs in particular are the worst since they have two less batteries to draw power from. That’s why they all come AC/DC and run 72 VDC now.

@@DJ2226 I think with these, rather than using two 8hp motors, they see a single, two shaft motor to drive both rotors. The lack of sufficient power is probably the biggest driver to these sounding so poor.

@@joshmo1744 Yup, the earlier 15V2Ts used one motor to control both choppers. I can see why they would use two motors, but also that's hella expensive.

I know this is a year old comment, but I highly doubt Lawton will even care about these Sentries anymore. They’ve replaced two of them with yellow 2001’s already so what I can assume from that is they don’t want them anymore. Maybe I’m wrong, but they’re probably gonna be gone and swapped out for something else in the not too far future.
