After watching this, I had to Google how Rhod is doing now. He received his first clear scan in October 2023.
He’s going on tour next year, which I bought tickets for a couple weeks ago. I last saw him on tour during his Battenburg Tattoo tour. I’m glad he’s doing better.

I send you so much love and respect that it’s difficult to explain. It is always an enormous privilege to care for every single cancer patient. When you thanked the technicians after your scan I could not stop crying. I am deliriously happy that you are well and I continue to think of you often and to send you love and gratitude and strength. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Rhod described perfectly being a wreck going into that first scan after treatment. And I was hugely relieved to hear his result. I had stage 4 tongue cancer in 2009 and went through a similar treatment at Royal Marsden Hospital. Fourteen years later, I remain as grateful as I was then for the care I received from immensely skilled and caring doctors, nurses, and technicians. Thank you for sharing your experience, for your bravery and grace in opening this emotional window to people who will hopefully never have to face it themselves.

I had no idea Rhod had gone through this, I'm in NZ and never saw it reported. I am so in awe of this lad, so much about him is to be admired, not only his charity work, his wonderful comedy but the inspiration and comfort this gives to others. Showing himself so vulnerable and his raw honesty does help others to face this knowing their feelings are valid. That sounds daft to someone who's never been through this type of thing but when you have it you beat yourself up over the emotions you have and you expect too much of yourself. Cry when you need to, feel angry, let your emotions out because you only have one battle to fight and that's the disease, you don't have to prove anything to anyone. So happy to read he's got the all clear and will be back on the road to put those smiles on faces again.

4:02 is such an important moment. I went through chemo treatments for my own cancer and the nurses, the doctors, the custodial staff, EVERYONE was absolutely amazing people. Each one was a comfort to have and made the hard treatments as easy as they could possibly be.
I did all my chemo in the hospital because it was a 24 hour thing for 6 straight days. In the middle of maybe the second round i woke up in the middle of the night sick and before i could reach even a bucket i threw up all over myself. I sat there almost in tears cause i was a grown adult and had just puked on myself like a child because i could not even make it to the bathroom. As im sitting there wondering what to do and feeling ashamed of myself and at the lowest i have ever felt the nurse came into the room. She must have seen my heart spike on her monitor. She came in and calmly helped me up and to clean me up and get me a new gown. She didnt act like it was a burden or that it even bothered her. She just came in and got right to work making sure i was okay. I didnt feel any shame for it, she just wanted to help me and told me it was okay, that these things happened. I was at my lowest point i have ever been in my life and she came in and washed that all away and i didnt feel ashamed of what i had done anymore and ill never forget that moment.
Nurses are amazing people, a special kind of person.

You never get through it. Head and Neck cancer radiation therapy leaves permanent damage, I’m nearly 5 years post treatment, new scar tissue is still forming causing eating problems. Ongoing problems with ulcers, sore throat, oral thrush, all my teeth have gone, post nasal drip clogs up my throat, food gets stuck in throat which makes me vomit. Radiation treatment to neck area has dried out the sheath around the top of my spine so I get electric shocks down arms and legs. Probably lots of other side effects but these immediately spring to mind. However, it was worth it, so far 🤞. Took me 3 years before I could eat crisps, now that was a reason for celebration. You try and not let it get you down and make the most of the days when you feel ‘good’. None of us will ever get our full saliva function back.

I've had cancer when I was 11, 2 years ago they discovered an (unrelated) tumor which is a dorment thing I shouldn't worry about. But it's very nice to see this. It's unique that someone shares it like this and it makes me feel stronger about my situation too. I know comedians aren't always the funny guys, but still, it hits harder to see a comedian beat down like this. And to get through it nonetheless, gives hope in a weird way. Hope you are allright, Rhod (if you'd ever get to read this).

Rhod, your willingness to show emotion is wonderful. So many people try to tell cancer patients that they must fight and be strong and think positively. It's really important that people going through this process can have moments when they feel weak, vulnerable, ill, sad, worried and tearful. To deny them that is cruel. And, as someone who's experienced (to a lesser degree with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia) the competence and kindness of medical staff ... well, they are without peer so far as I am concerned. So very glad that you are on the mend.

I was quite emotional watching this. My Mother was diagnosed with cancer about ten years ago. She went through an operation then radiation therapy and chemo, and was given the all clear. Five years later, it came back. More chemo, and then given the all clear again. After another four years, it had come back and spread to her lungs and esophagus. She refused any more chemo, and decided to live out the rest of her days to the fullest that she could. I went to all her chemo treatments, and doctors appointments and tried to do the best I could for her. I lost her last year. Cancer is such an ugly disease.

Wow that was emotional. I spent most of last year contending with malignant breast cancer. I don't get the "all clear" talk. Mine was in my lymph nodes so the doctors say it's probably in my bones. I am on therapy for the next 9 years to see if it stays dormant. But by God I am so happy Rhodd is in the clear.

The treatment is brutal beyond belief, I had 70grey of radio, chemo made me profoundly deaf no sense of taste or smell. Outstanding. I was diagnosed in 2019 and I’m living the dream today. Still cancer free. The Swallows charity offers amazing support for what is an epic journey. Thankfully new developments in therapy are looking good for the future❤

I felt so bad for Rhod when I first heard this. No matter who you have around you, you're kind of stuck going through it alone and the meds grind you down. Am so relieved he is doing OK now.

Have always enjoyed Rhod's humour. I was so saddened to read of his diagnosis. How incredibly generous of him to share his very personal journey. It is no doubt very difficult to show this vulnerability, but I'm not surprised he has chosen to do so. He's been very public and forthcoming about his neuro-diversity diagnosis and the ways he has overcome so many challenges, with grace and good humour. No doubt, it has helped others to know that he has done so. I hope that his choice to share this journey also helps others who are facing similar challenges in their lives.
I'm proud of you, Rhod, and I am very grateful! I wish you well!
