I always liked the story about how difficult the X-Metal line was to manufacture, wroth with difficult and costly processes. It was really Jannard’s forward thinking and a dedication to cutting edge design that was at the core of what Oakley was doing in the marketplace. Really no other outfit out there was making eyewear out of forged metal much less using difficult to work with titanium (and magnesium in other lines). The closest any other companies dared get to these materials was use of titanium wire - but forging it? Ha! Once Luxottica swallowed Oakley, it was a sure bet that X-Metal’s days were numbered. Luxottica was just not that kind of company.
The new owner degraded the high quality standards of Oakley sunglasses. My last two sunglasses have had quality issues on the lenses after year of use. The dealer replaced them with new ones. But this hasn't happened with my Juliet, which is 7 years old.
By far the best frames ever made. Absolutely bulletproof. Over 15 years old and look like the day I bought them. Wish they’d bring the lenses back at least.
@@whyme8068 So check this out bro If you go to the Oakley forums sign up and look for a dude named Chris Hardaway He is very talented and can find you lenses for almost any frame... He knows how to cut them and everything

First saw Juliet's in Black Hawk Down. Love the the look and I like how the frame is not big like other brands. Really would like some Juliet's with the rubby red lens and prescription would not be a bad touch either. Bring back Juliet's !!!!!
Bought my Oakley Juliet x metal ruby lens in 2020!! They are best sunglasses ever created. After using them i cannot go back to another now even another Oakley look pale in comparison to them!!
Oakley really need to improve on the quality of its lens..... The famous defect is the peeling and deteriorated of its lens over time..... Defective...
It's an issue with care. Sweat and skin oils have incredible power, and everybody has different composition of sweat - some are more acidic than others. If you don't clean your lenses properly, they will degrade over time. These are not glass, but coated plastic, they are durable but require maintenance. If you WASH the lenses with soapy water from time to time, they will not peel on you (I'm talking from experience). Same way you would wash your clothes, you have to wash the glasses if you want to have them for years. I absolutely hate when I see someone with grimy, filthy glasses leaking of skin oils and sweat from every hole...
@@PoltergeistWorks I own a pair of M Frames that are over 20 years old and the lens is still in mint condition. They have repeatedly gotten sweat on the inside upper part of the lens over the years and I simply used the microfiber bag to wipe it off. I saved up big time to buy my oakley juliet ducati's (the other lighter grey version) when I was still in highschool. I've used them so much for both sports and just leisure. Imho the best sunglasses I will ever own. I don't wear them anymore because the nosebridge needs refurbishment.
Discontinuing the x-metal series was the worst thing Luxotica could have done. It should have continued to develop while slowing down production of older models and placing them under their “classics” collection.❤

what kills me is that Oakley does not offer replacment parts for the Metal frames. Specifically the rubber nose pieces and ear socks.... Ever since Jim sold the company to Luxotika or whatever that company's name is things went DOWN HILL for Oakley :( sad!
