  • Vidhi Jain is a strong advocate of home-schooling - she firmly believes that the current schooling system in India and overseas is not equipped to handle the vast diversity and numbers of children that we have today. Vidhi believes that home-schooling, or unschooling is the right way to go about dealing with and bridging this gap in the education system. In this talk, through various real-life examples, she explores the advantages of homeschooling and persuades others to follow the same.
Josh Talks passionately believes that a well-told story has the power to reshape attitudes, lives, and ultimately, the world. We are on a mission to find and showcase the best motivational stories from across India through documented videos and live events held all over the country. What started as a simple conference is now a fast-growing media platform covering the most innovative rags-to-riches success stories with speakers from every conceivable background, including entrepreneurship, women’s rights, public policy, sports, entertainment, and social initiatives. Yes. Im a teacher by profession but i left my job after trying to impart whole education not just the number game...in different schools for 15 years. And im pretty sure that I will be homeschooling my child. There is definitely alot thats imparted to a teacher during her training or B.Ed but theres hardly any scope for a passionate teacher to implement it or the teacher herself is a namesake. Young children shouldnt be victims of these imperfections...either in the system or the teacher. Every child will have a flair....and if educated wholly, he or she will pursue it n excel in it eventually. (Even if its to be a doctor or a Chartered Accountant). Education is not just about profession, its about the self, the society, intra acting n interacting....n this cannot be confined to a four-walled classroom with a stressed out teacher rushing in every 45 minutes, just finishing her JOB n rushing out. There should be love for learning. This happens only if the educator allows the child to learn in his way....who is better than a mother who can do it for her child. And yes the child can get pushy but with patience, its a win-win situation. Education means equipping your child to be a lifelong learner in order to implement it for the good of himself and the society. Homeschooling will help us create young people who are lesser stressed and who will see different dimensions and above all who will be humble enough to learn from life everyday of his existence. And for all those parents who dream of offspring who will be only doctors or engineers....DONT worry, if your child has that spark, nothing is going to stop him or her. And if he doesn't have it, he is going to be a quack even if u pressurize him. Can v question the open learning system of the gurukuls? Its was hands-on-learning and the best system. What are we doing to our kids today???? Its pathetic. Poor kids.

I know for a fact that school killed my creativity. I started school at age 2 1/2. I was physically and mentally abused in LKG, UKG and in 4th Grade. I remember kneeling down in the sun in LKG as punishment for some silly childish thing. I was sent to tuition after school in UKG until 6:30 or 7PM. Maybe because of that I hated school and learning. I was so afraid to send my children to school and I didn't send my daughter to school until 4 1/2 years old. After the pandemic I am seriously thinking about home schooling my children. Education and Medicine have become a big business.

In school they just think about writing exams and memorization and there is no practical knowledge about anything and in bio and chemistry they just taught us by reading textbooks.fact that our society doesn't accept or know things like unschooling and because of this I'm unable to do so..and even I don't think my parents or relatives will give me permission too.😶

Actually as a Parent I am too suffocating from inside... I see my child studying the same topics for last 4 yrs and now it’s 5 th yrs almost 3 yrs she has learnt abt earth just spoonful new things added each yr.... same safety topic ....same British rule, independence , same scary maths ...., same germination of seeds .... when .... I teach her , I recollect of having learnt the same bull sheet .... ( she understands better when I teach..... I was myself never a brilliant student but today I can definitely teach my child well)....getting fever before each and every exam specially maths ... yes as teacher always overlooked us as I was among few below average students .... only one teacher who taught English .... understood my pain when I started hinding below the table ... she called me .... took me close like a her own child and asked ... why??? I said my parents don’t speak English , my grandfather was good at writing but never spoke a word .... so from where am I suppose to learn it from...? She gave special attention to me for which I am really thankful to her.... but unfortunately it was only for one year that I got her support .... Now a days I don’t see this willingness in teachers to teach for the sake of making a child understand to the core of that subject....today too I can’t speak fluent English ..... why .... I am a house wife...thinking why I wasted my parents money ..... today they would have lived better with that .... but just that time the underlined thinking was A girl has to get Graduate to get a groom ..... what I learnt in school never came to my help..... In college too I realised that we all are feeling like free birds ..... why .... coz 13 yrs of school life we were like prisoners .... as a result I found many of us going away from studies than coming more closer to new and higher version of knowledge ..., on the top Affairs and break-offs were regular dramas in campus..... we were big enough to find soulmate but not to take our own responsibilities..... why .... we were never guided in school abt sex education.... attraction , infatuation , sex and after that... destroying effects...why no body taught us abt human behaviour so that we could have understood difference between Good and bad friends or Girl or a boyfriend ....that time the concept “character of a Girl” was firmly believed by groom’s family.... but now I hear from current generation , “oh that does not matter”. Yes but at the age of 42 I think it still matters.... what as a Human being we grow ... matters how much we destroy someone else’s life as well as our own life .... matters.... you can never come out of that guilt of destruction of lives and opportunities .... chances to have been in better position if had focused on right thing at the right time...... School are missing very important tools of shaping Human life.......!!! They are just Hard wares run by a software programme called schooling inside four walls ......suffocating a child ... making him/ her weak.... less confident, comparing..... emotionless .... always running a race.... rat race..... with out knowing whether we are heading towards Cheese or mousetraps ....now during pandemic of Corona Schools are pressuring Parents for fees even for those facilities which are not used by children........where is Humanity??? Just for getting jobs we need school and college certificates..... pls ... help this generation at least....

The only thing I'm confused about is you can't be a doctor or engineer without studying. Plus there are certain Jobs even the astronaut one, she mentioned, it needs high knowledge of physics and maths, and of course a degree. What I can conclude out of this video is, you can prefer home schooling as an option, so that the child learns skills as well as gets the degree, or taking a gap to really find out if the child has learnt something or not, like she mentioned.

I have been thinking the same,My own experience reveals that today's school system are failure, they are just playing number games instead of being a place where every child loves to learn, they sample 10 years exam pattern and force their student to memories the pattern and answers so they score more in board exam which they advertise and school will gain more student so its become a corporate business model. We are not producing any good scientist, inventor or even good human being. The Gurukul system was little better. When a child goes to school and teachers introduces him to math science and language it all seems new to him but the teachers force feed him the knowledge . School might be the only learning center in 20 th century but since the inception of information technology its now no longer hold the monopoly. With the help of internet and mobile devices now every one has the choice to learn anything. The Future belongs to those who have practical skill. clerical jobs will be shifted to Artificial intelligence.Accounting and Data jobs will be handled by them.People should learn new skill, where there is innovation, invention and exploration. Humans have been evolving into new and better organism by practicing new thing, inventing new thing. Its in our nature, but school system prohibit such thing and force feed same course decade after decades. There is no innovation.Every child is different so teachers has a job to find new technique to teach everyone. they are there to put the student on the path of learning by showing how fun it is.When there is no fun or adventure then there is no learning be it science, math, languages, art, sports, music or any thing.

It's OK to be artistic but being a doctor without schooling is dangers. Our educational systems needs a huge change but education is a important aspect to change our country. And yes education is not just only to get a job but also read write and understand our surrounding environment.Unschooing is a great concept for educated parents but many parents want educational for there children to get a different life then there own which might be maids ,gangsters, prostitute. There surrounding study or nature study can be difficult harmful even .I don't support educational systems completely but change will come as the generation progress

I'm all for homeschooling and unschooling. I personally did not have a great, if not bad, learning experience at school. However, I would have loved if some concrete statistics and some well known examples of home-schooled children who went on to achieve great success were presented. Don't get me wrong. I don't doubt that the children who were given as examples have real talents. But to convince people that the current educational systems in most of the world are broken, we will need much more than some arbitrary numbers and examples of children of the speakers themselves.
Having said that, I loved the example of our grandparents that she gives. Very logical.
