  • We ride and review the Langen 250cc V-Twin 2 Stroke and compare it against a 1992 Yamaha TZR 250.
We love all things 2 stroke here at 999lazer, so when we got the chance to throw our leg over what we think might be the World's most expensive production two stroke motorcycle we jumped at the chance....and what a machine it is!
A massive thanks goes out to our channel sponsors. Their help enables us to bring you weekly moto videos. So when you need to restock on the essentials please do support the guys that support us! :-)

The Langen Two-Stroke is a super exotic machine manufactured in Britain, which uses the superb Vins Motor from Italy. In concept this motor is two YZ125 dirt bike engines crafted together to form one stunning work of art. I hope you guys enjoyed this video and be sure to let me know if you want to see more road bike content in the future!

These weigh in at just over £35,000 including VAT, a Ducati Panigale V4S is only £25,000 and as much as I absolutely love 2 strokes there's no way most regular people would ever spend that much.
That said, what a fantastic piece of kit, and it just shows that 2stroke technology is viable in todays marketplace.

I'm impressed with the bike, its weight, power and detail. Keeping everything British (apart from the engine and the forks!) reminds me of the Hesketh V-Twin. Expensive and a lot of Union Flag waving but it soon disappeared. I hope this doesn't but at that price it's not a real world bike. If only I still had my 350LC.

I'm reminded of sidecar motox in the 80s. Mainly dominated by Norton and Yamaha 4 stroke motors. Then along comes the EML Jumbo which was basically 2 x 500cc Maico engines grafted together for a 1000cc 2 stroke twin. Nothing could get anywhere near it in the right hands. Happy days. Good to see Langen keeping the 2 stroke spirit alive and good luck to them.

How do I know the snowmobile engine will not correctly apply to the motorcycle market at all otherwise someone would have grafted one into a bike is my guess ...yep just looked at and no way is that motor right for a proper motorcycle it has bizarre cases compared to a MC probaby for a totally differnt transmission setup in otherwords you have no point other than the technology which WHEN will it make to a new motorcycle model? And as far as just pure tech goes? I imagine there are even more "advanced" ideas patented and played with even before Skiddo seems there never anything really new under the sun...someone already thought of whatever a long time ago@@autodidact537

The oil system is a nice touch, far too many don't give it the time & effort it deserves, I useually bore mine out at assembly or re-assembly, , I used to have the full set of Suzuki GTs(still have the 750) & most of the Yamaha RDs both AC & LC along with a shit load of old British bikes, all bought as proper "Basket Cases & builtby my own fair hands until illness had me lose the ability to walk, my beautiful wife SuperNurse told the Dr's at her own hospital that despite the fact they said I would "Never wakj again, let alone ride" she said "We won't be having that", she gave me a month to sulk then put me through 5 months of hell, but I was kind of a walking, 2 years later back riding a bike, not what I was used to but riding is riding, now I take money off litrebike riders(??) on my Suzuki RGV500 Gammam or sometimes my RD LC 500, both fabulous to ride, & you do have to know how to ride, not a Nanny System in sight, just me & it just as it should be, Nanny Systems have taken the skill out of riding, that's why I van beat them on an almost 35 tear old bike. The only problem with this is the price, it may be fukn amazing, but the only people that can afford it will be putting it in their "ManCave" & never where it should be, I'm a "Die Hard 2 stroke guy" but even I wouldn't pay anyfuckjnwherenear that for a bike like this, I have a shed & yard full of bikes that probably add up to that, all better than new, & a lot faster too.

you sir are a man after my own heart. many years ago i had the 1st RD 125 LC which was restricted to 12 bhp in UK form. this was not acceptable to me so i se about making it a bit faster . well lots faster. most people just bought a Micron and a big main jet so it didnt burn a hole in the piston. they were lucky to get it to 95mph. i read everything i could andwrote to alot of 2 stroke tuners who were very helpful. after a lot of work i had it passing 100 mph in 5th and going on to around 120. no one would believee it was not a 175 kit. i could have done more but it was getting expensive ans needed o be srviced and rebuilt far more often than a standard 12 bhp model. i havent got a collection like yours and i am very jealous. but one day soon i an going to build myself something very special based on an early RD 350 LC. No powervalve BS. Just everyhing i have leaned since 1984 andit will destroy many anew 600 cc in line 4. hopefully it will get noticed and i can take it to a few shows maybe even get someone like these guys to do a video on it. all the best Roger I hope you get to carry on riding forever. and love to your wonderful wife. I raced classic TZ250s and 350s and an RGV250 in production racing in the early 90s and owned countless two stroke dirt bikes. The problem with 2 stroke engines for road use is they don't like constant throttle. The end result of that is a shredded license. Maybe I just don't have any self control but I need to keep my 2 stroke enjoyment off road and on closed circuits. Pootling around on a 2 stroke is like having 1 beer.

It produces a bit over 60hp with stock carbs and all the air injection/carb heating circuitry removed. I can only imagine how good a modern 2T would be.

@trixnorma4508 The Zeel is a miracle upgrade. You can tune the Power Valves, the ignition timing and (if you still have the air injection jets installed) control the air injection system. It also provides a hotter spark. Not very expensive for what it does. The guy who builds it owns a 3xv and is usually available for advice.

@trixnorma4508 The 3xv1 was restricted by Japanese law to 45hp. A good pipe, porting, head skim, Zeel and careful jetting can yield more than 60hp. Just putting on a Zeel is not recommended unless the bike is modded and tuned with new bore plating and pistons. If its fun for you now, just ride it. Have fun.

Absolutely beautiful bike. And the way that he has it set up to make it easier to ride and less on off than the old two strokes. The weight is so low. Which is fantastic. In my lifetime we have gone 4 stroke. 2 stroke. And back to 4 stroke. Wouldn't it be nice to have a range of 2 strokes again before we all get resigned to electric power.

Judging from the performance in the video, this bike isn't making anywhere near 78 hp. If it was, it would be pulling the front wheel up in every gear. From what I've read in several articles, these are destined to be a track-only motorcycle, since they still can't meet emissions in the U.S. High dollar doesn't necessarily equate to high performance and handling. I'd need to see it on the track to really get an idea of what it can do.

Nothing will erase the memory of my TZR, a small 50 cc 2-stroke with 6 speed , a very comfortable seat with a 13-litre tank,
Over the years I have increased its power (it is forbidden) raising the engine to 22,000 rpm making the dial trot at the rpm needle.
With a short transmission it was impossible to change gears fast enough even if I was not using the clutch
With a long transmission I entered the highway (strictly forbidden) overtaking trucks and cars on a 2 wheel which was not supposed to exceed 45 km/h (it's the law)
this machine out of hell could pass the 140 km / h
What a pleasure it was to line it up for a run with friends
    leaving them far behind
sometimes I even won against 125 cc
It was with her that I had the biggest fright but it was with her that I had the greatest pleasure
So I agree there are much more powerful motorcycles
but the pleasure of having developed this mechanism and of making his 2-stroke engine roar to its last entrenchment
The years have passed I have calmed down and 24 years later I still have its engine on a shelf at the back of the garage
nostalgically remembering all those good and bad times spent with her

I'm desperatly in love with the tzr, the most beautiful bike ever.
I think the comparison is not completely fair, because the 3xv complained with japanese regulations, so she had only 45 hp. A theoretical export version would be some 60/65, and that's would be a fight...Aprilia rs250 were the last sport smoker, and they were around 70 hp.
I understand the project of the Langen, but this way you cut out all the 2 strokes fans who does not have a lot of money.
The future will be assured when a major producer (Ma' Yamaha, can tou hear meeeeee.....?????) will put on the market a modern, reasonably priced 2 stroke. Fuel injection is the key, the thermical part is essentially always the same.
Thx for the video - I envy you a lot.

@@999lazer Where I live the pure idea of a road legal tz250 is pure madness. Our law on modifications says:
      1: NO
2: Don't even think about it
      3: Forget it.
4: ok, if you really want it go to German's TUV and come back, for a 5000 eur you can do it.
And we are talking about stock bike (or car) you just want to mod or upgrade. Getting street legal a racebike....? Hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa......

I think it was Yamaha that also used the reverse barrel 250 (carbs at the front and exhaust out the back (for better/more efficient air flow) on the TZR 250 3AK (?) street bike. Honda then did a credit card style ignition system to start the bike that... IF memory serves... Also had the feature where different 'Keys' (cards) had different tuning profiles... 🤔 😎🇬🇧
