Made it here 4 years later! Learned the groove itself super quickly listening to the song but was tripping trying to figure out how to count it.. im counting and contextualizing the groove in 5 which weirdly makes perfect sense as well?? lol love that we hear it differently,, nice vid!
This groove is sick!! and hard! didn't know about this trio before so thanks for sharing! sick lesson and playing!!
Hey mate! Thanks my dude, stoked you're feeling it! I honestly thought I was gonna be working out a 16th note triplet groove at first but it's literally 8th and 16th notes, just played super fast and with sick phrasing. Hope all is well Eli man! Alex
Wicked lesson man! Super tasty groove!👌🏻
Thanks Troy my dude! Stoked you enjoyed it! Yeahhh man, a super fun one for sure! You been listening to their newest release? Alex 👊
Someone listening to Vels Trio and breaking down the drum grooves ? You're the man dude. I love playing along to BADBADNOTGOOD tracks and have been vibing with their music as of late.
Yes mate! Stoked you're digging the videos man! Gotta love Vels Trio, not sure if they're still going but def worth seeing live when gigs are happening again! Alex 👊

I’m not even a drummer but like the style of your videos keep going my dude
Thanks so much man, really stoked you dig them! What instrument do you play? Sometimes just as fun to watch a video aimed at other instrumentalists, I always find myself down a Rick Beato rabbit hole haha. Alex
@@DrumHubTuition I play the guitar! But it helps to learn rhythm trough drumming. It opens up a lot of possibilities to create new music!
Ah nice man! Yeah dude for sure! Glad you are digging the videos and stoked to help break down some rhythms in any way! Alex
Man thanks for all the sick breakdowns! You are doing al the stuff I like! Vels trio is awesome had the privilege to see them in Amsterdam last year. Was awesome.
Yes my dude! Glad you're digging the videos man! Ah mate, they are so good live aren't they! Dougal Taylor is super constant. Let me know how you get on with the grooves mate! Alex
Great video as always! Keep up the great work
Thank you Harry my dude! Hope you get something from it man! What have you been listening to lately?
@@DrumHubTuition All the greats! Elvin, Max Roach, Tony Williams, you name it. But in terms of contemporary London jazz stuff, kokoroko and butcher brown are top notch
Sick man! Can't go wrong with the classics! Ah yes mate, love those bands! Might have to do a Butcher Brown / Corey Fonville lesson at some point! He's so good! Alex
another sick video man!
Thanks man! Vels trio kill it. Always see members of them playing with other bands around London but not seen them as a trio for time! Hope all is good my dude 👊
Wow heavy groove here!! Just discovered a new band. Thank you for this excellent breakdown and video work, long life to Drum Hub!!!
Thanks so much my dude! Stoked you dig it and good to see you again in the comments! They're a wicked band for sure man, didn't put out too much but what they did release is gold! Hope all is well mate, Alex

@@danser9150 Thank you dude! Sick man, super hyped to hear that! Will make it down to a gig when things are back open for sure! Alex
Awesome, thank you so much. GOtta cover someone at short notice and jam this tune out!
Sounds like a sick band to be subbing for 🔥 Alex 👊
Vels Trio are very much together and performing. They have just re released their first Album on vinyl and are performing live at the Jazz Cafe on 14th November. Dougal Taylor also plays with Emma Jean Thackray and they have track on new album Blue Note revisited available to buy or to listen to on your favourite Music Steamer. Invite Dougal onto your channel?
That's sick mate! I wasn't sure as I hadn't heard anything from them for a while but kept seeing members performing with other bands. That's rad though, might have to grab a ticket if there's any left! Will check out Emma Jean Thackray too, thanks for the heads up! Alex 👊
Thanks for this tutorial video! I've just mastered the Tame Impala groove so can't wait to move on to this one. Loving it mate, you explain things so well!
Have you heard Fazer - White Sedan before? Keep up the good work man if you had a patreon account I'd support you (just saying)
Thanks so much my dude! Stoked you're digging the lessons! Be sure to tag me up if you ever film yourself playing any of the grooves, would love to see that! Ah man, I just had a listen, hadn't heard it before but it bangs, the left foot clave action is sick!
Thanks man! I haven't thought too much about Patreon to be honest, although I do see more and more people using it! Super nice of you to say man! Do you rate it?
Yes my dude. Love this channel! Been learning so much from it. I have a feeling you're a massive bop head. Could you do some beat break downs of some more old school stuff? Roach, Blakey, Haynes etc.
Yes mate! Thanks so much, made my day to hear that man! I definitely had a big bop phase where I put some hours over a few years into bebop phrasing and studied a jazz performance course! I rarely play old school stuff at the moment but could be fun to get back into it and break some down!
I'm sure you've seen these, but I love these 2 channels for bop stuff! Alex

Hey my dude, thanks for checking out the vids! I haven’t worked on that book but have Rhythmic Illusions which is wicked!
There is a video of Gavin Harrison explaining 19 Days on CZcams, I’ve put a link below! You should have access to the full vids if you have the book! Alex 👊
