    What happened to the alternate world of Draenor after we left it after Warlords of Draenor?
    Even though WoD occurred only a few years ago the actual time that passed on the alternate planet was in decades. As we have seen in the mag'har questline there is an entire new story with old Grommash, the united orcs and the Lightbound Draenei.
    We only briefly see Draenor but from what we can tell there is an all-out war that is going on there and we only experience it for a brief period of time. As opposed to all other expansions where we have left but maintained a presence, Draenor is completely different and the planet is in an entirely different state.
    All of this is very confusing with the alternate universe and the Warlords of Draenor time travel lore but I do my best to explain what we know while also presenting some speculations.

    For those of you complaining about how Blizzard is "turning the Light into villains", just consider the fact that, technically, the Light has NEVER been inherently "good". The Light doesn't empower "good" people, but people who BELIEVE that they're doing good. If the Light was really "good", it wouldn't have abandoned Nabundo and the Broken Draenei for accidentally inhaling Gul'dan's demon mist. Nor would it have supported Alliance paladins as they abused and mistreated Orcish POWs after WCII. Nor would it have aided Arthas as he slowly turned on his own men and mercenaries in Northrend prior to taking up Frostmourne (during this time, the Light only faltered in Arthas during the purging of Stratholme, and that was only because Arthas was doubting himself during the battle). Nor would it support Scarlet Crusaders and allow a Dreadlord to infiltrate their ranks. Nor would the Light have aided the selfish Blood Elf paladins in TBC after they imprisoned a Naaru and used its powers for their own purposes. Nor would it turn the Draenei of Alternate Draenor into genocidal zealots. And, of course, the Light wouldn't have tried to violate Illidan Stormrage and force him to do their bidding if it was truly a "good" force.
    Point is that the Light is not inherently good, and the Void is not inherently evil. They are opposite sides of the same cosmic coin. Don't believe me? Read some of the lines that the Naaru have said over the years and tell me that you couldn't hear an Old God saying the exact same things. Both Light and Void aid those who BELIEVE, regardless of morality.

    • @robertushaposan2048
      @robertushaposan2048 Před 4 lety +5

      Nobundo is already corrupeted by guldan mist, i think it's severe his connection to the light. Paladin is mostly good, some of them who turn to be evil will be abandon by the light. Tirion fordring is example for the light never abandon who believe to it. The light is already living arthas, but arthas blame the light while he should blame himself. Naaru is fragment of light not light itself. Just like us they use light power and they can make mistake, example xera and her alternate counterpart, some naaru is noble, example is a'dal.
      I agree with your point though light is power, it can be use to do noble things and not. I think Xera's plan isn't evil, but isn't good either, she forced illidan but for a good things, but still it's not her call. Neither light or dark can be consider evil or good. But mostly people who use light is good, one of them is tirion fordring

    • @chris8878
      @chris8878 Před 4 lety +4

      @cracked dagger the light was obviously good in the past, saving children and protecting families from torture and death and structuring society around good deeds and honor. The only reason blizzard writers would introduce light as evil is to flip the dynamic, probably toward making the orcs fill the same role and portray paladins and priests as evil schemers and racists. It fits the larger political agenda throughout the real world today. You cannot have anything portraying perceived brown persons in a bad light, so that defaults stories to be twisted unnaturally from their origin. This game has lost many players due to creating the savage horde beasts into honor society with patriarchal hierarchy with no arguments from real world, while alliance becomes soft frail knee jerk idiots with all women as their leaders because the men are written in the game being fools.

    I have an interesting idea for what happened to the Arakkoa, and it also has some precedence in their own unique history and culture on Draenor:
    After the Battle for Tanaan Jungle where we defeated Archimonde, Mannoroth, and Gul'dan, the Arakkoa that had formed the Order of the Awakened offered their services to their Orc and Draenei allies that they Alliance and Horde had aligned themselves with, however when the Frostwolves and Laughing Skull Orcs aligned with the remnants of the Iron Horde, the Order of the Awakened ended up breaking off all ties to the Orcs due to the simple fact that throughout the Iron Hordes' campaign, the Arakkoa were targeted by the Shattered Hand, the Blackrock Clan, and the Bleeding Hollow Clans specifically. And when the Naaru arrived for the Draenei to begin spreading the message of the Holy Light across Draenor, the Arakkoa decided to cut off all ties to the Draenei: the Arakkoa themselves had just came out of a civil war brought about by Light fanatics (the Adherents of Rukhmar), and the Arakkoa had already seen the telltale signs of what the Naaru were going to attempt, and had their confirmations validated when the Lightbound began to enslave the Ogres and the Mag'har. Many of the Arakkoa would retreat to their holdings in the Spires of Arak and start to reinforce it with whatever long-forgotten Apexis technology and research they were able to muster and recover in around 30 years as they patiently waited, hoping that the champions from Azeroth would come to their world once again and stop the encroaching madness of The Lightbound...

In my day the classes didn't have to do a lot of dps or heal like jesus on a caffeine drip, they just needed good utility to stick out from other classes, paladins had blessings and divine intervention, druids were there to bring innervate, hunters had tranquilizing shot to dispel enrage, and priest had fear ward. From what I see, the light seems to reflect life, order and stability; while the void represents death, chaos, and Motion. In this case, too much would likely cause Stagnation and thus things would begin to weather away as things would kept in a ridged manor and be unwilling to change, which is not how a natural ecosystem would function, and could explain why Drenor is dying; there is too much Light over the planet and so the Ecosystem is being choked out. That being said, it would also be bad for there to be too much void, as the constant changing of everything would not allow time for things to grow and nourish, and so we certainly don't want the old gods winning. That's my take at least.

    In regards to Yrel's "dark secret" cut before the release of Warlords of Draenor, it is known that she referred to Velen as her "uncle" during the expansion's alpha. Given Velen's former views of and relation to Kil'jaeden and Archimonde - as well as Yrel's participation in the latter's encounter in Hellfire Citadel - it's possible that Yrel was meant to be the daughter of either Kil'jaeden or Archimonde.

    While I played through WoD and its story I really didnt enjoy it as I did with other expansions.The story was weak and a lot of characters felt wasted.Not to mention the huge amounts of content that was cut or left unfinished.Honestly I like the idea of the timeline decaying.

    And next time in World of Warcraft, The Lightforged are invading Azeroth. Will our Heroes defeat them on their home Planet?
    Edit: I tried to imagine a Light version of the Outland.

    i think most would agree that blizzard really dropped the ball with WoD... i mean players live in the main timeline, but when they introduced the alternate timeline it introduced a LOT of plot holes with it. and like you said a lot of the stories had dead ends in WoD because there was no way to connect them with the main storyline... i think blizzard realized that making an alternate timeline made too many "anomalies" (idr the scientific term that says when you change the past, the future has to change also or its an anomaly?) but this happened too many times at the end of WoD and during legion (legion's issues were inherited from WoD's plot holes)... one of the biggest plot holes i like to talk to my friends about is the fact that illidan still exists as a demon hunter but gul'dan wasn't dead yet at the beginning of legion so illidan couldn't have transformed yet (warcraft 3 reference)... lol
    i mean the legion timeline and the burning crusade timelines would have been 2 different timelines if blizzard did their storytelling correct, but that's not what happened...

      Gul'dan was already dead in our timeline, this was a different Gul'dan.

      Due to having a relatively unmixed population, a language different to Serbo-Croat, close ties to Austria and being furthest away from Belgrade, Slovenia managed to successfully secede and win a relatively bloodless and very short war of independence (although there were still casualties). It is now a thriving - if small - European state, nestled between Austria, Italy, Hungary and Croatia, with beautiful snowy mountains and a warm, though very short Mediterranean coastline on the Adriatic Sea. They produce high quality wine and beer. Slovenia is a member of the Council of Europe, European Common Market (European Economic Community), Schengen Area (free travel without passports to all neighbouring states except Croatia), Eurozone (Euro as state currency) and the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

    I wasn't really happy with the whole light is evil now retcon. It seems the writers want to subvert expectations just like Rian Johnson did in The Last Jedi.

    Everyone is hating on this expansion, I personally love it, although the plot is a little messy (who am I kidding, it is destroyed!) the expansion was good, and in the end, alternate Gul'Dan escaped and went to Azeroth and started the Legion expansion, but basically the story of the escape of Garrosh during his trial is that he needed to escape, and Wrathion liked the idea of Alliance and Horde teaming up to defeat one enemy, that's that...

      It was terrible in term of gameplay. Pvp was dumbed down and social aspect which were already lacking took a even bigger hit. Terrible expansion and storyline feels silly.

    I Don’t understand why people are eager to just throw shit at the light. Because you just saw a scene where a Naaru tried to force “her” will on Illidan is that it? You guys need to learn no primal power is good or bad it is just who uses them. Remember Scarlet Crusade? Yeah those guys who used the light to “purge” the land from undead and other races. So that should prove light is bad right? Well no? Because it was the people who used it for their own ends. Same goes with Undeath Lich King used it in a bad way but hey we have forsaken and the Death Knights who helped defeat the lich king so. Void? Lolz bruh I think void elves are the proof that void can be used for good. Even before them players character could use the void to do good.
