- Stage one loadshedding is currently underway. Eskom started the rolling power cuts yesterday morning. The power utility is urging the public to continue using electricity sparingly. Earlier this month, about 1000 Megawatt was removed from the grid when a unit at Koeberg power station was taken offline for maintenance. Loadshedding is expected to continue into the new year as Eskom has been battling unit breakdowns at its stations. Energy expert Clyde Mallinson weighs in.

27th today and already back to Stage 3.
By the 2nd week in January we wil be back in stage 6 as soon as holidays come to an end as demand pick up
By the second week of February, we'll be in curfew owing to high crime from unemployment

When the Western Cape rallied to the call it was because there was a drought. Why on earth must we rally to the call for Eskom? First off, Eskom in their efforts to become 'more inclusive' got rid of the expertise it had all in the name of an ideology...the ideology of BEE & BBBEE of the ANC. This was a stupid endeavour. Stupid mistake number 1. BEE then ensured that only BEE companies could supply Government - since there were no Black companies with the expertise and supplies available BEE shelf companies were formed and acted as the middleman for those companies that had said expertise and supplies and then added another 100% to the price tag. That was stupid mistake number 2. Then Eskom under Pravin gordan decided to ignore the helping hand of organisations such as solidariteit that had all the expertise Eskom needed....300 odd engineers and artisans (who are white) who were willing to work for FREE. That was stupid mistake number 3. The stupid mistake number 4 was to overstaff Eskom by approximately 10000 people. Stupid mistake number 5 was using incompetent uneducated ANC cadres to be board members so they could earn massive salaries. The ANC is getting stupider by the hour!!! And all because they push racist policies and want to carry on riding the gravy train. The ANC couldn't give two stuffs about South Africa or the people they are serving but don't. Now Eskom wants a 32% price hike.....FOR WHAT MAY I ASK??? AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO RALLY TO THE CALL???? REALLY???

We will not get used to load shedding because we pay them for delivering electricity. It is their job to see that they keep their plants operational and not trying to hike the price for this after years of not doing so. Eskom, get your house in order!
Day zero water in CT was averted by farmers giving up their water storage as destroying their crops. It was a backup source.
There is no backup source of electricity.
For the past week, our town in the westrand (westonaria) we without electricity every 2 hours. We pay our bills but must suffer because of all the theft.... Today wednesday still the same thing 2 hours on and then 2 hours off.... Dont know what this government are thinking, how must people do business and people cook food. 12 hours without electricity. All the municipalities have the same story, they did contact eskom but no response from eskom.... Loadshedding and load reduction, dont know why we pay rates and taxes. All of the houses in our town are pre-paid...
You wont see any effect with the army being there or not. Eskom will (might) see a change but we wont

Your constitutional rights are not absolute.
Why must be at reduction if the municipality didnt pay ESKOM? We paid our account. And in summer we use less electricity as in winter. Come on Eskom. You didnt say anything on reduction?????
It is 28 Dec 2022. Half the country is on holiday and Eksdom manage to pull of stage 4 load shedding today? What is going to happen in 2nd week of Jan 2023 when manufacturing starts up again? WTF Eksdom?

80 percent factories closed surely a big saving on power
When will Eskom coming right.........?? Their must know there are plenty people (Old age People) that making use off power for their Oxygen instruments and with out power what will happen.........?? If Hospitals don't have power what will happen if people have life machines on this Loadshedding must stop

They will not sort anything out. They have had 20 years to do so. To bring the best electricity provider to its knees needs some doing. This government is not providing anything to its citizens they only collect taxes for themselves.
