  • The plaintiff hired the defendant to make her daughter’s prom dress. However, she claims it was the “worst mistake” she ever made in her life, and is now suing her for destroying the dress. The defendant claims the plaintiff’s daughter loved the dress, and she is countersuing for defamation and emotional distress.

That woman does not know how to sew. When he asked what tulle was she said “it’s a fabric that makes it flare, I don’t know...” like she never used it before. It doesn’t make it flare, adding tulle would NOT have made those feathers stick out like the picture. Tulle in a thin mesh like material. She needed to add a shit ton of feathers and sew them so they don’t fall straight down. Looking like a wet bird or some shit instead of a fluffy peacock. I’m glad she got her money back.

Honestly the seamstress should’ve ordered the feathers. It’s very hard to order something that you have no experience in ordering. The plaintiff could of reimbursed the seamstress for the feathers later. She knew what feathered needed to be ordered. It’s irresponsible to place blame on someone with no expertise. She’s making her self and business look bad by not being accountable. Humble yourself and learn from your mistakes.

People please teach your kids to speak up in situations like this. I'm not saying judge Mathis was right because I feel like he was totally wrong for bashing the mom about going to Panama. He has kids and he knows how kids are especially if they've been raised to not "talk back" to adults. I was raised that way and my mom didn't tell me until I was 18 that it was "ok" to speak up for myself. Even now, at 25 I still have difficulty sometimes because I don't want to come off as disrespectful. The point is, Mathis knows that the daughter probably said that she liked it because of the exact reason I just explained.

The seamstress should charge more for her services and require parents to sign approving dress before delivering the prom dress. Because you get a difficult person & you could get stuck making so many changes that you don't have time for any other customers.
In the end they got a free dress if the daughter wore it to prom.

She showed the woman what feathers she bought and she still put them on the dress. If they were wrong she should’ve told her.

This coming confirms why I will never do alterations. Instead of trying to cut corners, the mom should have purchased that exact dress. Also, the feathers fly out because they are layered and close to the floor. The feathers are fanned out in the picture like you do wedding dress train.
