I have been playing since Freedom 2 and I must confess GU is the best MH game I have played so far, I really like the styles and moves you can do un GU. The games afterwards are good but GU is the top for me. Also seeing skilled players and some luck adds to that.

@@serapio1133 same, gu had a massive roster, and some great new monsters, but the world and journey of 4u was just amazing, and the magalas are just so cool.
I think it depends on when you got into the series, I played the original monster hunter on PS2 as a kid but didn't really get very far, I didn't play any others until world on the PS4, I really got into world and then got rise for the switch, when I'd beaten rise and got to the stage where I was just farming for different gear I thought I'd buy GU but found I didn't enjoy it as much, the nostalgia was great at first because it was a lot like the game I played as a kid but the gameplay felt very dated and clunky after coming from the two newest games and I found myself missing some quality of life changes like the radial menu and being able to move a little while using items, even the way the weapons play didn't feel as good as the newer games, I did enjoy playing it and the styles were cool but I'm mainly going back to rise because I enjoy the way the game plays much more, for me the best game will always be mhw because that's the game I really got into.

I think MHGU is peak monster hunter, maybe alongside Frontier but i’ve yet to personally play that, both go so hard and really reach the logical conclusions of “hunt monsters to get cool shit to hunt bigger monsters to get way cooler shit” it’s just banger after banger and the vibes are immaculate

One time I was doing a g2 Boltreaver as a Striker gsword and my brimstone slash was ready and Astalos dolid the tail thing nearly killing me and ending the hunt I hit right back knocking it down and quickly cutting that tail. Best and worst play I've ever made at the same time (we went on to beat the quest that same hunt)

I like energy blade a lot but I wanted to see what it was like to saed with 10 phials and boy does that feel good. It’s pretty much the only reason I’d intentionally saed. Although, 10 phials with lazor sword sounds fun… might mess around with that

makes me want to make a new character and main charge blade. I play everything else in this video except charge blade
it's good, iirc Striker and Valor are generally considered the better styles but Valor especially gets reductive since the way you build gauge is just spam stance roundslash and once you're in Valor the element discharge 1-2-3 route is your optimal damage so there's not nearly as much combo variety as say 4U CB. I might have to pick up the game again myself for Valor Horn tbh

Just recently got back into playing this. Rise is great but lacks content and is a bit too easy. Just sucks I haven't had a dedicated group of friends to play MH with since World.

honestly its so hard to get back to older MH titles after playing MHW on mouse and keyboard.

Difficult to play anything older than MHW after playing MHW. It's like an almost perfect version of the series.
I'd say MHGU and Rise are both very worth playing even for a MHW fan since MHGU has insane amounts of content and Rise has interesting movement. MHGU on PC needs to happen now.
