*This is a great camera **do7.pl/GoPro5** which I use in my travels to video takeoffs & landings. Just returned from Ireland and glad I had this GoPro. The only drawback is the Hero 5 is unable to change the image eg; it only records in fisheye setting. I will be trading this in for the Hero 7 which allows changing of image settings.*

Nice one MicBergsma - you make it look much easier than other videos I have watched. I have the lens replacement, but I'm slightly worried that the procedure between the GoPro 4 Silver and the GoPro Hero 3+ Silver will be different. Can you confirm that the easy method you have shown will work for the 3 Silver?

the caliper is a good idea, I did my replacement before this video , what I did was hook up to my TV via hdmi and focused it by watching the picture.

Wondering if we should apply a bit of Loctite blue to keep the new lens from turning after installation in order to keep the focus locked in?
How about sugesting a replacement lens to remove fish eye from gopro. Also will this same tip work for GP3?

The replacement lens works great, was easy to replace and only cost $25.00. Thanks you so much! Ain't nothin keeps this guy from getting the job done well.

Hey mic i just bought the gopro 4 black and i went to tested out and after some time get's really hot that you cant touch it with your hands also when charging (my settings where 1080p with 30-60fps) is this normal or should i check with the seller ? Thank you .

I have a Hero 3+ Black Edition in front of me right now that will not work at all. It simply restarts and freezes up, making it useless. It does this with and without an SD card in. Have you had any issues like this?

You can focus the lens by connecting the hdmi out of the camera to a monitor and you can see it to focus it best. Also, you can put Teflon tape on the treads when you install the new one because the threading isn't tight enough. Its an easy job.
I tore the built-in mic solders replacing the lens on my Hero 2. was a small price to pay to get rid of the scratches right in the center of the lens though

Oh man! I was with GoPro support this morning because last night lens seal broke while taking off the protective lens. Fortunately the warranty will cover this if you've purchased your camera less than year ago, but one slight problem for me... I can't find the receipt! :( Explained my receipt situation and waiting to hear back from them. If they are unable to assist without receipt, then I'll try what you show here. So glad I ran across this video, definitely saving for later. Thank you for this video!
Oh by the way, the guy at GoPro support said we were supposed to pull it off, not twist it off. So yeah.

I used a little plumbers (Teflon) tape on the new lens to keep it better in place.

If you soften the glue with a hand held hair dryer for a few seconds, it won't take as much force to unscrew the lens. As a bonus, you don't get that unsettling cracking noise when the glue breaks. Also works when you are adjusting the focus on a GoPro.

Hi. May I ask - If all that was really required was to screw your EXISTING lens a bit left or right to get it perfectly focused, why do you need to buy a new one ? Could you not have just re-focused the one you had in it at the first place ? Thank you - I know this is 2 years old subject, but I hope you can answer my Q- Australia.

funny you post this when i JUST bought a used 3+b with a VERY VERY small scratch on the lens !! i cant find it in video/photo but i can find a small glow when the light hits it so i might change it anyways ^^ what lens do you recommend ? im going for off brand ones due to cost :> or maybe even due to different angel on the lens :>
