- Felling a widow maker tree without a chainsaw. A widow maker is a tree that is leaning or broken off. We use a rope to pull down the tree, not a chainsaw! More of my chainsaw tree felling vids: • How To Cut Down a Tree...

Ah, the Black Veil Lottery! Well done. We have a small wood we walk the terriers through. Because “she” (like deer) never looks up, I discourage her from going until I’ve surveyed the wood after a storm. There’s just too much old, nearly dead pine in there.
Eric to the rescue, now everyone it's safe and sound awesome job!!!😁😁😁
Hi Ana thx for the smiles. It was fun to drop the tree. Thx!
Lol charlie is making sneaky comments lol. As always your approach is simple persons great for all of us. Yes we learn from you.
I was surprised that Charlie commented on camera. Off - camera he has many comments 😉I’m sure you know friends like that!
Loved the drone footage and music it really made this a great video. And the fact No one got hurt :)
Nice video as always, thanks Eric! A bit short though, we want more Eric (and the pups!)
I’ve found the vids are as long as they have to be. Didn’t want the Labs around for this. Thx!
All the tension build up and overthinking and then the big success music.. it's a little bit over the top for such a simple task 😂
Maybe for you but slightly dangerous for your average tree man. These kind of videos are just what's needed for the novice.
love the music you have runny... and a very cool tree felling..
Thx Sophie! Eric.
Great video. I had a similar situation where the blew a large 18" branch down. It did make contact with the ground. I cut off as much as I could safely before pulling the rest down with my truck. Luckily I had enough rope leader because it bounced more than I thought it would and left a huge gouge in the ground.
This didn’t bounce much Steve, but there is a lot of energy in a tree trunk falling 30’ isn’t there? I did think about the rope and the drop, this one worked out ok thankfully. - Eric.
You're never gonna be able to untie them knots. Lmao.
always a joy to watch you tackle a job. one note: the yellow woven rope is s-t-r-e-t-c-h-y. i always recommend using the standard twisted rope. stretch ropes such as yours are generally good for wet conditions like anchor ropes. other than that love the video and the outdoor area you're in.
You’re my greatest superhero Eric The Widow Maker killer!
Hey Eric! The Aussies have been calling their eucalyptus trees (gum trees) "widow-makers" for ages. They are self-pruning, in the parlance. With no warning, apparently for no obvious reason (heat, frost, drought, broken, wind-damaged, or other stressors) they just drop limbs willy-nilly. A trip down a forested path in Australia is dangerous.
Great music at the end!
Thx Katherine!
I went dirt bike racing/camping a few years ago and one tree snapped during the night. The guy parked next to me didn’t stay the night and lucky for him the branch would have totaled his truck. It made a whole bunch of noise when it crashed and we had no idea the tree was rotting from the inside.
Wow. Lucky for your neighbor there. I think the tree we worked on here had been hit by lightning. But yeah hollow trees cause a lot of damage. - Eric.
You got a drone! TOO COOL!
Eric I figured you'd have shinnied up that tree and jump up and down a bit
to make things more interesting...
think of the view counts you just missed.
Great post again! GBY & those U Love!
Yeah, but the hospital emergency room is 45 min away... thx for the note!
No more widow makers
Good job✌️
Yes Ron, the driveway will be safer with this tree out of the way. Thx!
Trade that drone in for some better rope that is rated for pulling trees.
Very nice editing on this one. That tree was precariously perched up there! Off topic, I was just thinking about you this morning when I put away my IP. Do you have any trouble getting it clean? Mine seems to always need a serious scrubbing!
Whoop! Whoop! is what I think! Yay!
U should plant a new one
Good work man love it
Yeah Felix, thought about this one for a while before I did it. the drone helped me see it was pretty straightforward. cutting up the dead pine afterward took longer, lots of limbs on those trees. Have you ever dropped one?
Hey i wrote about the plywood boat I build i have been wonding to Sendt some pictures of it I just haven’t had time
Is it that big of deal you have to take it down
It does hang over the road, so yes IMO. Thx!
Well Done. My money was o0n the tree.
We had a REAL Widowmaker about 2 Years befor today. It was in one of the worst Autum Storms we had since the early 2000s. In the Evening when it was dark and rainy a Woman in a little blue Car on her way back Home was hit by a Tree with a Diameter of more than 40 inches....
These big Trees along our Street here will be killed during the next Years, for Workers, who want to build a new, but exrtremely short part of a subway Line with just 2 little Stations. The new Part will be just about 1500 Metres long....for more than 500.000.000 Dollars...!!!
:-( :-( :-(
Not nearly as "entertaining" as the guys back home. My guy friends when they used to do this sort of thing fell under the category of "This is how NOT to do....." usually some beer involved as well. However.... I much more approve of your safer methods and you are still fun. I love the camera angles and the drone. Your channel and another make me wish I had one. Love the views, but I have no good reason to spend the money. I'll just keep watching you.
