  • Dillard’s in Tyler is saying goodbye to a longtime employee, and even that may be an understatement. It all goes back to 1949, when she started as an elevator operator.

    74 years of service and the only reward is ⚰

      Exactly. That’s why I’ve never understood why so many people act like these companies are so important when we’re all going to the grave anyways. She is already 90, how much more life can she enjoy? Hate to put it that way, but it’s the reality.

    Sounds like Dillard's never paid her enough to properly retire at retirement age...

      She’s from a rich rich family here in Tyler, she just likes talking to people and gives her purpose 😊who are we to judge?

      @@TheDeathvice187nah we got a lotta people that work at my Dillard’s who talk to me about how messed up the retirement is, they don’t care about old people, or young people

    This is such a sad story. This woman had to work until she was 90, way past retirement age, in order to survive day to day. Dillard's doesnt pay its employees enough to retire at a normal age and she had to work an additional 25 years. How sad.

      How do you know the reason she worked there? Why make assumptions?
      And yes it is an entry level job for people to get work experience or move up, not meant as a permanent career job.

      @windowlicker_4207 Před 10 měsíci +8

      @kisong1960 you're right! People work until they're 90 just for fun. Noone wants to retire and enjoy life. People prefer to serve others. Boy, I'm so dumb! I hope to work until in 105! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
      I think you gotta leak in your attic buddy. When you go to work and it's time to go home, do you stay at work and insist on working more? Or do you look forward to enjoying your life? Mmmhhhmmm that was rhetorical, btw. I already know the answer to that. Common sense is hard

      @@windowlicker_4207We literally have 3 or more ladies that still work at my Dillard’s, because they don’t offer a good retirement plan for people that reach the retirement age

    And Never missed a day is what some other reports say. LIES! Um, menstrual pain, colds/flu, postpartum, bereavement??? Not One day did she call out in 74 years? Yeah, okay! Her dedication and work ethic are otherworldly, but staying this long just to not have much more life to enjoy doesn’t make sense. God bless her.
