    That second cat had beautiful markings. I agree with Mike, if we were allowed cameras it would help catch these trap thieves!

      yeah, the smaller cats always seem to be the prettiest, it sure is a pain what the AZGFD commission subjected us to by banning cameras, I hope someday we can repeal the ban.

    Good call on the cat to let go. It definitely had a kitten face. Going job you are crushing it this season.

    Good call on letting those smaller cats go. Thieves suck only suggestion would be to turn the cages in a spot where the back end that you are brushing in is facing the road. Harder to spot them that way. Just put something on your door that you can still see from the road with a pair of binos. Little chunk of white cloth stands out good enough to see if the door is still up. Yet doesn't get to many people taking a 2nd look.

      yeah, this is the first time it happened to me, but I know it happens to all trappers, and I am going to do my best to see that it never happens again.

    Did you have one of those tags on your trap that act as a warning?
    We've spoken before and I saw you up at that northern Arizona cage trapping demo over the summer.
    I just got my first catch yesterday which was a kit fox.
    How many traps are you running? I only have 8 right now

      thank you! sometimes people do stuff we can't understand, but as long as we know we are doing the right thing, and nothing wrong, we have nothing to fear!

    U ever think about an earth anchor? Might make it that much more difficult to just walk off with your trap. Trap thieves suck.

    • @TheArizonaSportsman
      @TheArizonaSportsman  Před rokem

      yes, I have actually been trying them out recently and have been liking how they work..

    Sucks about the stolen cage. It's only going to get worse too because of the ban on trail camera they know there is no way for us to catch them.

    • @TheArizonaSportsman
      @TheArizonaSportsman  Před rokem +2

      Yeah, I totally agree. I think the trail camera ban was one of the worst things to happen to arizona trappers since 1994 when they took foothold and bodygripers from us. Now, we don't even have a chance at catching trap thieves or learning how to become better trappers.
      Recently, have been using disposable earth anchors on some of my sets to make it harder for my traps to be stolen, and so far, it seems to have worked, it also has stopped the wild dogs from ruining my sets, so that is probably what I'll continue to do whenever I am in public areas

    • @OutdoorMike
      @OutdoorMike Před rokem +1

      I think we need to start compiling a list each year for how many traps are stolen or destroyed by trap thieves and vandals. At about 135.00 a piece it would not take long to show losses in the thousands each season. It might help us make the argument to get cameras allowed on our sets.

    • @TheArizonaSportsman
      @TheArizonaSportsman  Před rokem

      That is an awesome idea. We should definitely do that.

  • @watchgoose
    @watchgoose Před rokem +1

    all you know to do is kill it?

    • @TheArizonaSportsman
      @TheArizonaSportsman  Před rokem +1

      With the coyote yes, they are a huge problem and nuisance in the United States, they are extremely overpopulated, and they need management.
