The Civic is famed for being the do-it-all hatchback and the 11th generation is no exception, providing more space and usability than ever before. The 35mm longer wheelbase has allowed designers to create a more expansive and comfortable cabin space as well as improving dynamic performance and straight-line stability. The construction of the tailgate is now resin, a first for Civic. Developed using new manufacturing technology, the weight has been reduced by 20% compared with the previous Civic, making it easier to open and close. Additionally, the supporting hinges have been moved outwards, achieving a cleaner roofline and further contributing to the new sleeker rear design.
Once inside the Civic, the horizontal style of the dashboard emphasises the width of the cabin which, when combined with a wider field of vision gives a truly airy and open feeling. The interior also benefits from new tactile, high-quality materials throughout, including a striking metal honeycomb-pattern air vent detail running the width of the dashboard. On Advance grade the drivers’ display now features a 10.2-inch HD colour LCD panel for improved visibility.
The new Civic offers an intuitive infotainment package. The size of the central touchscreen has been increased to nine inches and has been moved upwards to minimise up-and-down eye movement. The system comes complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility to keep occupants connected whilst on the move.
In addition, to further enhance occupant experience, the Elegance and Sport grades feature eight speakers whilst the Advance grade features 12 premium BOSE speakers for a concert like audio experience.
Honda’s proven e:HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) powertrain technology is offered as standard and its application in the Civic, sees the deployment of a new 72-cell lithium-ion battery and two compact, yet powerful electric motors paired with a newly developed 2.0-litre direct-injection, Atkinson-cycle engine. Combined, the powertrain delivers a maximum motor output of 135kW and 315Nm of torque. The latest iteration of the internal combustion engine has several new elements within its architecture to help achieve a thermal efficiency of 41%, one of the highest figures within the automotive industry for a production road car.
The two powerful electric motors work together to provide the primary drive force for the all-new Civic. The engine is controlled by a new, compact Power Control unit which now sits under the bonnet with the rest of the powertrain. Sitting under the rear seats is the latest version of our Intelligent Power Unit and whilst smaller and lighter, it benefits from an increased energy density. This system delivers a feeling of instant torque and powerful acceleration whilst still offering outstanding efficiency.

This is an unreliable test for me. A car that has no downsides? I watch your next test and begin to doubt...
SDA Dan Cars
Be honest, does the cars engine rev up crazy high just like the HRV and Jazz, when you push a little on the gas?
The video shoes mostly cruising so it'äs hard for me to determine
I bought myself one in Premium Crystal Blue in Sport trim.. When I drive from Gibraltar to Malaga and back, I get around 4.5L/100km. I take the coast road (A-7/N-340) and hit the toll road sections, when the road merges. The coast road is 80km/h with a section being 100km/h, with the roll road being 120km/h. When driving from Gibraltar to Chiclana via the A-381 and A-390/A-48, I got 5.1L/100km and that's also fairly hilly. I'm very impressed. When driving in the city from the western entrance to La Linea de La Concepcion to Gibraltar, I can make it all the way home on EV mode. Super impressed.
Nice 👍 thanks for all infos 👍🙏
I also live in Switzerland near Zürich and I ordered the sports Version with the same blue color in July. Today, my Honda Garage called me that my car is here, so I went there to look at it. It is so awesome. I can pick it up on Wednesday morning, and I am excited like a child on Christmas 😂I also added carbon style side-mirror caps and Carbon Style Spoiler. The Spoiler will only arrive end of October and the Garage will install it then when it arrives. Anyway, thanks for all your Videos, they are very informative. Keep up the great work. 👍
Thanks for feedback 🙏 👍 Enjoy it and drive safe. You did a great choice
Good for the world to know, bro.
Booked yesterday afternoon, Advance version..Pearl white.. Tried last week sport model, but Advance for only 3400 euros I have the top of the range with everything .. Leather interior, sunroof, electric seats, heated steering wheel.. I fell in love with it as soon as I drove! Consumption from hyper diesel!! 👍 Honda civic top 🔝
It happened the same to me. Bought advance and white.
Just the wait as a regret
Nice 👍
It's just amazing a beast like this could be so efficient. Honda has really found the balance with e-HEV!
Yes true 👍
Yeah because they finally just copy/pasted Prius concept, lol. All previous Honda hybrids are just one huge fail.
@@VYM No man, Hondas Insight (2018 model year) got pretty good gas mileage.
@@VYM one of our two daily drivers is a 2011 Honda Civic Hybrid. Except for the fact a bit more power would've been nice, I can't fault it on anything. It avarages 5,2 litre / 100km, has all creature comforts you need, is spacious, and has been completely reliable for over 210.000 km. Quite a nice car for commuting actually.
This Car needs to come to the US already!!

Awesome car. This definately beats the new Toyota and Kia's. I pick mine up in 2 days. Full spec with light and carbon kit.
Nice 👍
Bro where do u live ? I also want this car. I am in canada
@@gurjitsingh2239 UK. Picked it up today. Managed to get 69mpg without even trying. Rides wonderful. As its new - so many other drivers looking to see what car this is :) when driving past them.
Man, anybody can tell that you absolutely love the car, I think you’ll regret if you don’t go for it. I’m picking up my own in February. Toyotas are nice but this has more joy to it.
Hope to see the photo in which you sign for the new lease soon! 😉

Thank you again for another great detailed video Dan. I went to test drive this car last Saturday and I think I am going to buy it this weekend. This car drives great. It is really comfortable, smooth, quiet and responsive. It is also very quick and effortless. The only issue is that I am going to have to wait until March-April next year before I get it, here in Scotland. Another test of my patience... I think this is a step in the right direction with the price of fuel increasing more and more, as you mentioned. Not quite ready for electric cars just yet. Keep up the good work. All the best.
Thanks Manuel for feedback 👍🙂 I think same to
@Manuel Genin what version did you order am in Scotland too planning on buying the new civic next year but was wondering what the wait time is at the moment thanks
@@steven0654 I ordered the advance version in crystal blue. I was told by the dealer that I should get it by the end of March (worst case scenario) but I might get it sooner. I believe the version and colour have an impact on the lead time though, crystal blue increasing the wait time. I think you might get it quicker if you were to go for a different colour e.g. sonic grey. Best to check with your dealer. 5 months to wait for me.
@@manuelgenin6690 5 months seems fair to me as one have to wait more than 1 year for Ioniq 6. If you get hold of any!🙃🤔
I really hope you are getting one! It would be awesome to watch more videos of your car. I am going to get one too!
Excellent real-world review Dan, and astounding fuel economy! What's not to like?!

Elle est superbe la Honda Civic Merci mon ami Dan pour ton essai route ✌👍👍

Very impressive numbers. My 2018 Passat 2.0 tdi with DSG gets between 6-7 L per 100 km. Thinking of trading it for one of these.
👍👍
Thanks Dan, great review yes as a retired Master Motor Mechanic & sales on mostly Euro Cars and everything else. I drove this new Honda Civic Hybrid for a couple of weeks in Thailand absolutely great vehicle for the money. I have to admit I am a convert Honda owner for many years very reliable and great resale price better than most cars from experience. Buy one you won’t regret it also I read one of your viewers comment about oil change every 10,000 kms Honda has fixed price low service cost for the warranty period. Anyway the best thing you can do for any engine is change the oil & filter especially Turbo fitted cars regular than what the manufacturer/dealer says that’s for years of experience fixing them. Keep up the great work Cheers Irish Paul

Many thanks for the video, amazing, now I can really have the feeling of what is like about consumption in this car. But yes, as you mentioned, this is a car to use in the city. I wanted to place an order, but I'm Still in doubt because I drove mostly on the highway.
The highway video will come today👍
One of the best test of this car, with not stupid 0-100 accélération 👍
Thanks 🙏
Thank you for the consumption test :-) it is really good. The only thing that I don't like is the price 42900 CHF is very expensive. In germany it costs (depending on the extras) between 36 and 38000 euros for the sports version, brand new with 0 km.
👍Thanks for feedback 🙏
In Italy, much of that biker, would died 😅. I'm waiting for a video like this. I love this car. 4.0 l/100 km is an incredible result.
It's a fabulous car. I have a Jazz, but the Civic is a much more substantial car, and like you, I've been thinking about getting one.
Yea agree 👍
Very nice review, 👍
Thanks Andrei 👍🙏
Amazing video, Dan. Absolutely fantastic without a separate cameraman. Even much much better than those made with a cameraman and professional cameras. Special thanks for showing every detail of the car inside and out. Swiss precision.
There is another interesting car review channel: TURATII by Robert Adam, claiming The Most Detailed Car Videos in the World! Well, I think you are at least as detailed as his one. Even better to some extent, because you do not loose in details, for instance Adam is switching on and off a switch six-seven times, noting foarte bine, foarte interesant... So, your videos are really much more enjoyable. Hopp Schwiiz, Hopp Schwiiz.
Thanks Ferenc my friend 👍🙏really appreciate you feedback
You could be driving even more economical if you would drive a little bit more forward-looking and use recuperation more often and longer. Use the pedals on the steering wheel to select the level of recuperation.
Yes agree 👍
Just bought a Sport Version like in this video... Waiting to have it ! One Month and it will be mine 🙂
Nice 👍
What a car!!! Most probably my next
👍👍
Thanks!
👍🙂🙏
Very nice test, but I wonder how economical will be during winter time with temperature between 0 and -15 degrees. Very nice job !!
It should have less of an impact than a full EV Car since the battery is only used as a buffer. The main energy comes from its petrol tank. But this is just a guess.
Will test it in winter to🙂👍
Hi, Thanks for your great videos. I hesitate between a toyota corolla touring Gr and the Honda Civic, which one do you recommend? Thanks

Hello. I subscribed to your channel for two reasons.
1. I like how you present the cars, quite objectively.
2. I want to see the video of the new Toyota 2023 - when you will have it. How it looks outside, inside, opinions about it.
I have a question. Are you of Romanian nationality?
Thanks 🙏😊Yea iam from Ro . As soon as I get the Corolla 2023 I will review it

Yes it activate on brake to 👍👍
Honda is always my Dream car ! May be next year for me :)
Yes 👍👍
Great video. Just one question. When you drive in electric mode how the consume can change without the engine motor?
Karin is complicated to explain ..it is an automated system
Ok thank you for your answer
That pads under steering wheel are changing gears or amount of recuperation? Thanks!
It's the amount of recuperation. There are no gears in this car that you could change.
Yes it all about recuperation energy
Great video mate and great car indeed. But if i compare it to my Corolla S it seems that it gives less range :/
I'm getting a range of 1010km when i fill it up and end up doing 780km to 820km depending on my driving. i am wondering if this civic can get these numbers as well? if yes then i'm definitely gonna be changing my car as well haha
Thanks 🙏 iam planing to test it out as well to see how much a full will get
The tank is 40 l, so with a 4 liter consumption you easily get 800 KMS on one tank.
I might missed that in one of your videos but is there any way how to preheat/precool this car via APP?
I think no...can't remember
Hi Dan, what happened with the highway video about civic you've uploaded today? I really wanted to see it but cannot find it anymore.
It was a mistake ....I work again on video and will be back soon with the video. The editor made a mistake adding same video

I have tried both the new Honda Civic e:HEV (I like very much the design) and the Toyota Corolla Touring Sport 1.8 hybrid but I have to say that the whole family enjoyed more the Toyota than the Honda and has all functions we need (especially the boot is crazy big!) and even for instance the space you get at the back seat and even the central armrest is placed higher compared with the Honda. It was clear for my kids that they wanted the Corolla and I liked it very much to drive too (even my wife) but the Honda is more “sporty” and a little more responsive but not that much. It is decided I will order the new coming 2023 Corolla TS. The only cons of the Corolla is that the USB sockets at the back seat are missing so you have to connect from the interior or the front of the central armrest… not so good!
👍👍
Are you joking? Honda id larger, specially on back seats. And faster. Very. And quality inside... No, Toyota is ok., but Honda is better. Much.
@@parceleplock4355, well it was our experience, not only mine but the whole family and especially the kids sitting on the rear seat. We tried the new Honda civic e:HEV and not feld in love. We have an holder Honda civil at this moment and think that the space is quite the same and even if the new Honda is longer it doesn’t feel so inside.
@@parceleplock4355 I think that you are speaking about corolla hatchback and he is speaking about TS version ehich is longer and has more room
Although both are hybrid, honda has more genius and efficient system.
Civic is a premium well looking sport hatchback, corolla ts 1.8 is a conventional indifferent station wagon..
So, it's meaningless to compare those 2 cars..
Would you choose this over a Corolla touring sports? Thanks!
Probably yes because have better price 🙂👍
Hey Dan.
If I am not wrong, you now own this car? How is the turning circle and maneuvering in the city?
I am not expecting anything close to Jazz, but... any good? Any concerns?
Not owning yet 😁 But turning circle is fine for the car size
Bro negative is more recuperation, it shows more down arrows next to D
Yea right 😊👍
Good fuel economy, but I can't change it to my civic 1.6 idtec where consumption is always around 3.5l to 4l

will you do a test of the new nissan quashqai e- power?
Yes 👍
. I agree about cyclist, we have the same problem in the UK.
Hehe 🤣 I think we need better road signs and rules
@@SDADanCars Yes and common sense.
@@SDADanCars The rules are okay, the cyclists just dont care about them....
@@alexbernadina3082 Don't agree with you. For one cyclist should be insured and pay tax for use of the roads , like the rest of us have too. Secondly there is a park near me where cyclist are exempt from prosecution and can only be given a verbal warning, i have lost count the amount of times that they been cycling in a dangerous manner. Thirdly i am unaware of any rule which forbids cyclist to cycle two abreast which once again means that they take up the whole road, extremely selfish and dangerous.
Forget about the bicycles. You could try some Prozac.
🤣🤣
It’s way way better than the accord.

I would buy this gem in a heartbeat, if only it would not be so expensive.
Honda is always missing a sweet spot for about 3k.

Not sure...I have to check
Can you do a conso test on highway (120km/h) (more than 100km) ?
I am waiting for this movie too, when can we expect it? :)
I try my beat guys to do it as fast as i can 👍
Does it have auto high beam lights?
Yea from what i remember
Of course you get only 4 liter consumption if you drive in city and outside limited at 80 km/h 😅 that’s the point with full hybrid (e hybrid) from Honda or Toyota. It could be good to try in a motorway at 120 and see what happens but I think it will be above 5 litres up to 6 litres.
👍

Could you please mount the camera somewhere? The head turning ruins the videos you make.

Este adevărat că mașina nu “ține minte” nivelul de frânare regenerativă setat, după oprirea motorului? Și că trebuie setat la fiecare pornire a motorului? Ar fi un mare minus. Tesla Model 3 reține această valoare.
Anybody know what amount of discount are the dealers offering on these new Civics?
Depend on dealer
How about the highway vs city consumption?
Depend on the speed …
@@SDADanCars lets say i need to drive it 50 kms to work in one way, driving around 100-120 max
@@hitpoint36 litre
This vs Mazda3?
I wouldn't trust the trip computer. The best way to measure consumption is to fill the tank, drive, refil and devide used fuel with distance.
Also, I'd like to see a comparison with Nissan's e-power, which is a similar hybrid system.
I suppose Nissan is not exactly the same hybrid system. Honda engine power bypasses to the wheels at higher speeds, wich is more efficient than Nissan, thst drives always with electric trsction.
For those that like Manual transmission, but thinking to give that up for Hybrid... is saving 10 mpg worth giving up the stick and clutch?... hmm... I'm guessing 35mpg gas vs 45 mpg hybrid... hmm.

Nice test ! But i learned that there's oil service every 10000kms... It's a no go for me, unfortunately.
😪 didn't know that
Are you sure we are talking about the same engine ? 1.5 turbo was plagued with oil dilution; this one is a different engine.
I think they wanted to stay on the safe side with this. 10.000 is not much, I agree. But for an engine that uses 0w20 oil and continously stops and starts. I think they just opted for engine life over oil life. OR they want the owners money. Or both.
@@cstrx11 Toyota's service intervall are 15000 kms, and i found it already too short, 10000kms is a no go for me. I tested the car and found it very nice to drive. Drove on motorway and had an average consumtion of 4.9/5.0l/100kms. I think 4l/100 is more on city and roads.
@@sylvainHZT I also plan to destdrive it.
By motorway you mean... driving at what speeds? 100 km/h, 130 km/h?
I currently drive a 10th gen civic with 1.5 Turbo and actually I'm getting very good consumption around 100-120km/h. Around 120km/h continous highway driving I get around 5.0-5.2 l/100km (calculated when refueling).
My civic btw wants an oil change every 12.000-16.000 km. Which I'm actually completely OK with. I think it's realistic and does good to the engine not letting it run for 20.000 or more kms. But my Honda dealer doesn't use original honda oil but other fully syntheic form Shell so, the change is usually not very expensive.
This fixed 10.000km period is a bit problematic tho. It's really not too much.
Fantastic even more if you think about the petrol engine is really new and still locked up…
Yes True Matteo 👍
fuel consumption test with AC off are unrealistic - nobody turns it off...
