- I spent just under a week solo travelling in Montreal, Quebec this summer. It has now firmly established a place in my mind as the coolest city in Canada!
I tried my best with the pronunciations, haha.

First, I want to congratulate you on how you have been able to make your viewers feel the coolness of Montreal. Secondly, I want to congratulate you on the quality of the French word pronunciation. It shows that you value the importance of respecting the language of Montreal’s majority who are French speakers.
Thank you Jacques! I tried my best, I’ve had little opportunity to practice what little French I learned in high school!
I loved your video! ❤
This was a fantastic video!!
This is an exquisitely produced video, congratulations. I am born and raised in Montreal and you showed perspectives on the city that I had not realized existed. It’s wonderful to experience my city through your eyes, you make me feel proud and grateful that you appreciate the richness of Montreal. Thank you so much
Thank you for your lovely comment!
Très bonne vidéo. Félicitations pour votre curiosité et vos commentaires faits sur un ton posé et très cool. Revenez nous voir, on vous aime 😊
Merci beaucoup!
I just came across this and wanted to say how much I enjoyed it! You gave a fantastic snapshot of the city and visited some places you don't usually see. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Siena! :)
The highlight of my Montreal trip was definitely Mont Royale. Such a unique experience, Toronto could never compete with that beautiful park.
I lived in Montreal from 96-09. You made me very nostalgic. No other city like it in the world. One thing that changed for the better: In 96 there were very few bike lanes and no one rode to commute. Now the total opposite
Interesting!
Was so much better before
We lived on the plateau for 6 years before moving back down to Michigan for work. I have to say this video brought a tear to the eye. Very fond memories of Montreal.
I really want to visit Montreal! Looks like it is the coolest city in Canada!
You’ll love it sooo much
It is !!!
For sure it is!
😊
It really is :)
What a charming, delightful and inspiring glimpse you've created of my city. You've truly captured the spirit of Montreal (I like the fact that you chose the Main deli over Schwartz -- a deli I regularly frequent as I live 5 minutes away). Thanks for your clip, and please return for a winter exposé!
Thank you Frederic, I would love to return in the winter!
@@DaphneXplores try Autumn maybe to see the colours. In winter there will ice ans snow banks everywhere and very less people outside, only ice slush
Parles-tu Français?
@@DaphneXploresno you wouldn’t like it as much. It’s feeezing ! Much nicer in the summer. I love my city but in all honesty winters are brutal here.
The Main Deli suddenly closes its doors after 50 years on St-Laurent Blvd.
After 50 years of serving up "charbroiled meats and Jewish sides in an old-world atmosphere", The Main Deli has closed its doors for good. May 2023 😢
I live in the suburbs of Montreal and I never go to town. I hate it. Now, you made me fall in love with my own city. I feel like living in an endless romantic comedy in that very city you so beautifully showed us. Thank you for that.
Wow, thank you for your comment!
@@DaphneXplores I discovered your channel with this beautiful video on Montreal. You seem to be an endearing, passionate, cultured and stimulating person. I will definitely explore your videos further.
The cinematography and editing of this video was so good. I don't normally comment on videos but this just stood out to me so much (in a good way). Great job!
Thank you so much, that means a lot!
Watching this video made me tear up as I am temporarily located in Switzerland and I miss my Montréal. You showed it so beautifully 😭😭😭
It is amazing and refreshing to see our city in the eyes of somebody else. It makes me appreciate Montreal more. I feel completely new here lol Like I didn't know anything. Thank you for this video. It means a lot xoxo
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
ive lived for 19 years in the south shore of montreal and theres nothing better than a summer day walking in montreal with the sunbeam on the skin and the fresh wind
.
I love your style. Love the voice over, the choice of music, and the overall atmosphere of the video. Just a matter of time before the channel blows up!
Oh and Montreal looks amazing as well :)
Thanks so much Karthik, appreciate it!
I was born and raised in Montreal and lived there for 22 years. I haven't been back for decades. I appreciate your video bringing back so many memories and encapsulating so many desirable and interesting places. As I remember the food always tasted better in Montreal than food in the U.S.A. where I now reside. Well done video. When I get homesick I will look at your video again.
Mabey the best video about a trip in Montreal i’ve ever seen.
Wow thank you!
Makes me miss my hometown so damn much 😢 I’m an expat living in Ireland and it’s great here but home is home!
Same for me… expat living in England and miss Montreal so much!
Ya but winters are brutal there ...nice to be there in the summer thats it
You did an amazing job depicting the beauty of this city! I used to live in Montreal back in University. Your storm scene took me right back to the day I moved into my first apartment :)
Thank you Emilie! :)
Montreal c'est ma ville. Je l'aime depuis ma naissance. Thank you for having shown it through anothers eyes
Not sure why this popped up into my recommended but I'm glad it did. Montreal holds a special place in my heart and always will. Every year for our anniversary my now fiance and I take a trip down to visit where it all began for us 3 years ago. She adores Montreal now like I always have and we look forward to it yearly.
You did a amazing work to show how actually beautiful Montréal can be.
Thank you and I really hope you had fun
Thank you!
I live in this city and now Im just excited for summer to start hahha. Cool video
This was so peaceful to watch. You showed my city is such a beautiful way. I love re exploring it again and again, but my favourite spot is the Plateau of course. Simply walking around is a pleasure, especially on a summer day. Glad you got to experience it!
you captured the city's spirit well!
Thank you!
Montreal will forever be my favorite city in the world. I loved this video, especially the summer storm.
Montréal, QC... the coolest city in Canada! You hit the spot with the love this city has to offer. Thanks for sharing the video! Bon voyage to your next destination!
Thank you!
I had not seen any videos to get a clear picture of Canada. But I came across this video; I really enjoy the city, and it's really helped me build up a beautiful picture of Canada. You explain everything clearly, and now obviously I am becoming a fan of your videos.
Thank you for watching!
People forget about Lester's deli on Bernard.
im so glad you loved my city! stay longer next time in the summer, we have amazing festivals too!
I’ll be back! I did go to Osheaga and had a great time!
My wife and I have watched so many videos, documentaries, travel vlogs etc about Montreal. The way you captured it was by far the best!
What a compliment, thank you!
That was so therapautic, thanks!
nice short and professional thank you
Hi Daphne. I'm so glad you enjoyed our city. I love to see how visitors experience Montreal, where they go, where they chose to eat, and the wonder they experience from the sensory overload of things to do here. You hit all the right places !! Notre Dame Cathedral hosts light shows within the sacred space. At the fireworks festivals, finding someone with a radio is key, if you are on the bridge, because there is a French radio station that broadcasts the Fireworks Playlist Music that is played on the ground at La Rhonde amusement park for those who buy tickets for seats on the riverside. Or bring your own radio !! The underground city begins on the ground floor of the Eaton Center and goes under STE Catherines Street over to Place Ville Marie. From there you can navigate to other parts of the underground city, yes it is very convenient during frigid winters for sure. Over at Place Des Arts, there is a secondary tunnel that will take you across to Complex Dejardins. You chose a very picturesque Plateau for your visit. A good choice because of the proximity to transit, parks and FOOD !! Mount Royal/St Laurent/St Denis streets are really great for walking and window shopping, and also FOOD !! Throughout the Summers, Mount Royal street is closed for many street festivals. There are many different street festivals during the summer. And some Major roads and streets are closed to cars for the entire season, for pedestrians only. Sometimes they shut down Ste Catherine's street on the West End towards downtown, for pedestrians only as well. During the pandemic, streets were closed to through traffic to give people space to walk apart from each other. They had Adirondack chairs and tables set apart so we could sit outside when we were able to leave home, after the set quarantine and lockdown periods. And not purposely be near other people. Two Major summer events here are (1) The Grand Prix, and (2) The International Jazz Festival, two must attend events. If you like fast cars, but moreover the Jazz Festival is a great festival set over weeks, then on to Franco folie and other great music festivals. Loved your video, please come back and visit us !!
Thank you so much for your tips!
Always happy to see people enjoying my beautiful city.
I love this video so much with all the places you chose to go, it makes we want to visit Montreal!!
planning a trip here soon, thank you for sharing this - super helpful!

Amazing city!
Such a beautiful video ❤️
Been searching for one just like this... happy cry 😭
Thank you for showing my hometown in all of its glory. Montreal is sure a swell place to be.
I live in this city. I am a student here. You really showcase the city in an incredible way!! Next time when you come here go to the Parc Jean-Drapeau, Parc René-Lévesque, and do cycling around Lachine canal
Thanks for the recommendations!
Hi Abhishek!
Just wondering is French still very much needed or you can get through with English.?
I was planning to visit for a week for my birthday this last week of August but still debating as to if I should or no as many have different views about people being too picky when it comes to language and if you don't know french you might feel a bit left alone
@@Ashhhh688 French is only "mandatory" in the small town/village where most people just dont know english at all, in all big city it's pretty rare to not get someone that speak at most broken english.
This just showed up on my recommendation and though I wasn't looking to watch anything on Montreal this video was so wonderfully relaxing while longing for summer in Canada.
Great video. I'm going there soon and really enjoyed seeing where you went!
very well done, thank you
Thank you for this beautiful and realistic portrait of my hometown.
It made me realize how lucky we are.
Omg!! Everything about this video is truly a work of art-the editing, the scenery, your commentary…I absolutely loved it🥰☺️ It’s almost as if we were right there with you! Thank you for sharing this💖💖

Thanks Alon!
Probably the best video on Montreal ever!
I love it! Videos like this make me proud of my city ❤ very nice editing and music choice
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! :)
IF you can return during winter Christmas season before and immediatly after is one of the most beautiful times, not too cold, hopefully some snow to add to the effect. I lived there for many years and now I live some 20-25 minutes off the island of Montreal.
this vlog is so beautiful it made me cry... i didn't know this was possible....
Very helpful, looking even more forward to our trip this summer!
Enjoy!
What a fun trip! I've never seen canned food served at a restaurant table like that, very unique. I will have to give that a try the next time I'm in Montreal.
Mont Royal is my favorite street I've ever visited. I'm from Toronto and the european vibes are heavy, the shops and restaurants are great, the vibe of people laying down and drinking wine in the parks, it feels so far from North America. Nice video, thank you
You made my hometown shine! Fantastic job!
Thank you!
absolutely loved how you captured all this beauty and inspired me to travel alone.
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!
You made a beautiful video. A perfect snapshot of the city and its vibe during the summer!
Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful film. Well done!
Thank you, Lucia!

Randomly stumbled on your video and I loved it! Living in Toronto my whole life, I've been to Montreal and never really felt like my cup of tea but this video definitely convinced me to give it another shot, perhaps on a solo trip :) Thanks!

a very expressive video. Merci
This is a really fantastic video. I feel like you've captured the essence of Montreal perfectly and it made me feel like I was back there! :)
I just found your video randomly (thank you youtube) and I must say, I am truly inspired and impressed. I've lived in Montreal for most of my life and have never explored most things you have in this short video. You make me want to discover this city all over again and I love it!
Got yourself a new subscriber :) keep up the good work!

Currently studying abroad and this video popped up in my recommendations. No regrets on watching! What a lovely video; it really brought me back home. Thank you for showing Montreal in such a beautiful way!
Thank you, it's a beautiful city :)
Nice job Daphne. What a pleasant video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Québécois here -- le Pouding Chômeur was never made with a caramel sauce; it was more like a thickened brown-sugar syrup. We still make it that way today when we want to save money, or even use a mix of brown sugar and maple (depending on the time of year, maple syrup gets pretty expensive here, too). If you've never seen how it's made, you really should -- you make the thickened syrup, pour the pouding batter into a dish, then pour the sauce on top. While it bakes, the sauce sinks to the bottom and the pouding comes out golden and crunchy on top.
