First year beekeeper here and the learning curve is REAL. Your videos and classes have helped me so much! If I had all the money, I'd either endow a library with extension programs about regreening, greenspaces, nature and farming...or I'd love to get good enough at bees to bring this to my college campus. Wouldn't it be cool to learn beekeeping in college?

Thanks David, I appreciate the video! This is some timely information for me. I had a swarm move in (accidentally on purpose) in a spot by the garage and they will need to move more then 3 feet and less then 3 miles. I think I will try to reorient them maybe with the branch method. It’s too far to move them 2-3 feet a day plus I will have to move them on a hill. I hope your season is off to a great start. I think this is the first one of your videos that I found! My priorities are: New siding for the sheep barn, build up the rabbitry, hire a local person to help my wife and I on the farm, get some sheep handling equipment because we’re getting older, honey collection equipment and be able to support our local food bank. I'm so glad I've come across your videos. This week I just ordered my first hive. I live in West Potsdam New York. I'm so excited to get started learning, collecting bees and caring for them in my new hive. I am growing my own food and making my art. One of my art media is painting with encaustic wax. I have been painting in encaustic for many years. Last year I was given some bee casting which I used to make my own wax. It was awesome getting over 3 pounds of wax in the end. I took photos of my process. It made me really want to keep bees even thouogh for years I watched videos on other beekeeper doing there thing. I eat honey every day in my oatmeal and tea so it will be great having my own bees making it for me.
If I had a lot of money I would repair the roof on my barn garage, insulate and heat it so I can have an art studio of my dreams. I could teach there and really enjoy using my printing presses and using my wax in some great art work.

Nice work, I believe I’ll try this on my next split. If I had unlimited resources, I would start animal husbandry classes for grade school ages up through college levels. Focused on pollination and the diversity of pollinators in the world.

Hello, I’ve been watching your videos for about a year. I’m new to beekeeping and love it! If I had unlimited money I’d buy houses for my whole family for the little homestead that we live on together. I love to turn our little into a retreat for people to come enjoy farm life or even to stay at during tough times.

If money were no object, I would buy a 1000 acre ranch with multiple lakes and ponds for trout fishing. Great video. Just got my first two nucs last week…steep learning curve, but your videos and book helped prepare me tremendously! Thanks and keep it up!

Just a quick after thought, sent a note on the sweethearts e mail & we hadn't subscribed... just did that. I am subscribed elsewhere, we watch your informative thoughts and uplifting information on our smart T.V. & frankly the TV is much smarter then I am... just can't figure out how to comment from there! Been watching a couple of years but this year is our first with our sweet fuzzy guests. Thanks for all the information & inspiration we enjoy your thoughts and energy. We will continue to learn together with you.

As a newBEE bee keeper...I am really enjoying your videos. If I had unlimited resources and the world was my oyster....I would definitely do something about inflation and supply chain issues. As well as make sure my family was debt free and taken care of.
And YES my grandbabies would be SPOILED! 🐝💜🐝

Interesting! I've had bees for a couple years, but never felt confident enough to make a split. It looks possible! My wife and I are retired and feel fortunate to have sufficient resources to "make it". If we had all the money in the world, we'd probably make sure that our family was OK, and then share the wealth with the charitable groups we support now. Our church (which supports the homeless and hungry), education, public broadcasting, and a few others. We'd also probably get a little fancier with our beekeeping! Thanks for all the great information in a format that's so interesting!

Newbie here. Started this year. Bought three hive systems and two nucs and have been able to pick up a swarm through the local club. Liking it so much, purchased 10 more systems. If I had the money, take some trips abroad then donate to conservation groups.

Been sharing your CZcams name to my kids that are interested in getting into beekeeping. Also a co-worker has started watching your channel. I will nudge them to subscribe. I enjoyed this video. My co-worker and I were just talking about making splits next spring on our new hives. Of course that depends on how they over winter.

Hi David. Based in the UK, our climate/weather may be different, but it's always useful to see how you approach matters, especially - in this case - splits. With regards to your giveaways, I 'm not in the US, to benefit but hey go. Unlimited money - Anything I like and yes, charity is a big part of that. In Europe we have a lottery which often gives £100mn and a recent winner has already given multiple millions to friends and family.

I have followed your videos . Your advice on stopping hive robbery is on spot .
I live in an area ( South Central Texas where the local population of wild bees are 70% Africanized bees ) and I have been successful to stop robbing from the local wild bees . The pressures on domesticated honeybees are very high and I have followed your advice to help those rogue bees in hand .

Hi Rod, unfortunately, bees are so perishable and sensitive to shipping issues or production issues. Many hands are handling a queen that you buy. Any of those fingers could pinch her too hard. These huge bee supply companies try to do a good job, but it is difficult to find workers to work bees. They produce such huge volume of packages and queens, that they work in a fury of activity for just a few months a year. Honestly, they cannot listen to their mistakes. But, you have the option just to be understanding, they tried but failed and try a different smaller company next year.

Great video and exactly what I was looking for. It's like you somehow read my mind when you're making these! Thanks for the video David!
Our answer to your question is we would fund education centers around the globe (build, maintain, transport and some areas protect ) to teach the basics of reading, writing, arithmetic, science, history, tech, arts, agriculture and what we would call blue collar skills.
People perish for lack of knowledge.
Keep the videos coming they help more than you know!

As a side note This my first ever comment in any video that I have watched. Thanks for taking the time to help us new bee keepers.
