      @@davidjames298 Thank you for watching and commenting. I can only speak about myself of course but the older I have gotten the more I have learned to get away from issues of pride and needing the acclaim and the glory. In the end I just want to see the situation handled ASAP so that I can move on the next issue that needs to be addressed. Also if you let other members of your team handle things they get confidence and learn how to do more which makes your job easier. Glad the video was useful to you.

      If you watch this series called snowfall, the main character was so greedy and prideful that it costed him to become something he hated the most. Your comment to this video reminded me of that character.

    I love the fact that you pointed out the voice dynamics... i had taken it as one trying to find the right balance if pride. We all know having too much can be detrimental but not having any or enough can just be as bad ... the middle ground is humility.

    I have never been able to understand how I feel sometimes and it’s not that I don’t care enough to be able to want to feel better it’s just that I can’t jot down my feelings well. This song by Kendrick Lamar has always felt like a calling like I can almost feel what he’s saying to me, but I don’t understand what he really says. This video definitely helped me understand this song that has a great connection with me and this video also helped me understand myself better as a person. Thank you so much. I’m grateful.

    Bruce, you're the man. I looked up a few reviews of the song prior to coming to your video and I must say they skimmed over a lot of important concepts and you on the other hand dove deep into them. Not very many people around me care to discuss or even care about what lessons/meanings artists are trying to unfold. It's so nice to hear a review from someone like you Bruce. You don't want to talk about what Kendrick is not doing right and if you love or hate his song for any particular reason you want to discuss the content. Then add on and relate to the content with insightful and helpful stories/experiences. That brings hope and means so much to an aspiring artist like me. So much respect Mr. Bruce. You're the man!

    • @brucemufson5810
      @brucemufson5810 Před 5 lety +1

      Luke thank you so much for what you just said. I really could not have answered any better then what you wrote. You are extremely insightful and very self-aware of what we are trying to do with these videos. To me artists like Kendrick and I am sure like yourself are so expressive its like an onion that has layers and layers to peel and to explore and understand. And yes, we are all about the content. For us its never about our opinion because who cares what I think, I know that I don't, and also the greatness of music is that its so subjective to anyone that listens to it. Finally, I can never bash any of these artists that put themselves on the front line by taking about deep subjects. I have to much respect for them. And yes as you pointed out I use the lyrics and the message that I perceive by bringing up clinical experiences that I have had to help the listener who might be going through the same situation or know someone that is. Once again much respect on what you wrote and how you tied it all perfectly together. Good luck with your creative career and just curious, what is the medium that you are involved in?

    When this album came out, i thought it was mediocre because “it didn’t sound good” or “it doesn’t sound like his old music” but as I listen to it 4 years later, going through my own experiences as a young adult, this album is such a masterpiece and staple of its time. Awesome breakdown bruce! I found myself listening to Damn and especially Pride a lot when I was down in high school. The messages about Pride: specifically the lines of the “race barriers make inferior” and “indigenous disposition” hit hard around the 2016 election, when I saw how the president’s base reacted to immigration. It felt Like Kendrick was voicing much of my concerns of how the nation was so divided. Looking back, I gotta say Damn is a bit of a downer album. I feel like depressed when I listen to it when Im down. But that is because the message of Pride still stands and is so relevant in our lives. Powerful stuff!
