    We always said when the ladders and buckets go up the building comes down. Flowing 1500 gallons a minute at just over 8 lbs per gallon that’s a lot of weight on the building. 15000 pounds per minute adds up quickly. Especially when multiple lines are being used. Had 20 years of service and always enjoyed fighting from the bucket. I was fighting a fire on the day I was married. Was in the bucket, looked at my watch and realized I had under 30 minutes before I was to get married. Got down as quick as I could and got one of the PD units to give me a ride home. Got home and changed and made it with minutes to spare. No shower and smelled of smoke. One of my most memorable days ever. Later that evening the guys came by with lights and sirens just as the best man speech was being given. The timing was perfect and have a video of it to remember the day. The house on fire was right beside the house I grew up in.

      More like 700-800 gpm with a stacked tip but much better reach & penetration without entraining much air. You are correct though about the weight adding up fast. Structures become much more prone to collapse during exterior operations which is just one of the reasons you pull everyone out & clear first.

    That top floor of the fire building sure was cooking, hopefully there were no injuries to anyone related to this incident.
    Thank you to all firefighters everywhere for protecting the citizens of your coverage area.

    Really good quality footage. Just one thing, it seems the focus was on incoming vehicles right when they were actually dousing parts of the fire and cuts back after the open flames abated. I enjoy watching the water fight the flames, so always bummed when that part is missed.

    Great footage. One small critique, No one cares about your traffic shots while the fire is burning. Stay on the fire until it is darkened down. Over all best footage. Your roof shots crush Skyler

    Isn’t it amazing how fast the fire is controlled by bucket hose why try to attack from the inside when it’s that furious.

    • @FDNYResponseVideos
      @FDNYResponseVideos  Před 8 měsíci +6

      The interesting thing about is that most of the time they are able to control it from the inside - the only issue is that videos like that are less common since the fire is put out so fast. In instances like this the visuals are much more “interesting” so they are more common on CZcams.

    • @davidbott9401
      @davidbott9401 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @DaleDix yes they would. No matter what anyone on the outside may say, always have to check the interior to make certain.
