I was so blessed to see John 'Marmaduke' Dawson and Co. open up for the Dead on so many different occasions; God, I wish they were all still here! To Marmaduke, Jerry, Donna, Hunter Thompson and everyone involved in the expansion of the Universe - you are still with us in our Exploration!
I’ve been blessed to sit and visit with David Nelson. As one would imagine, he’s a great fellow.
yep. nice guy all around.
My very first live event was the New Riders of the Purple Sage almost 50 years ago when I was 14.
They were my favorite band at the time.
They were just really great live.
I saw them in Chicago The Weeknd The Grateful Dead did their Fare Thee Well shows. I spent that weekend a mile and a half away watching David Nelson and Buddy cage in a club what about 60 other people.
It was in 2015. Buddy was still absolutely incredible.
He had a mohawk LOL
RIP Jerry buddy David Marmaduke and all others who brought us so much joy
Everybody else keep rocking on
You too?! Me too, fourteen at RFK when NRPS opened for Leon Russel. Unbeknownst to me some guy named Jerry Garcia was special guests with NRPS that day. 1973 Washington DC, maybe that was in July. For some reason I cant remember the exact date.
But Gnu does. Thanks brother man. This is sweet. Sorry I'm so busy.
I'll be dropping off letters to Potus, Flotus, Vice-President Harris, and Secretary of State Blinken this first week of January, 2023. (Its about time they pay me.)
I hope ya'll got my back.
If you're not in the Garden of Eden, what you gonna do on the planet today?
Peace & Prosperity
Was at that show also. Did you see when someone threw a whole pack of firecrackers in the white piano of Leons and he kept right on playing. So many good shows at RFK. Landover Md.
a really lovely set, took my soul floating through a beautiful field of peace. 🧚✌🏽💜
O. MY GOODNESS THIS WAS MUSIC THERAPY OF THE HIGHEST RANK! AND ALWAYS WILL BE!🎼🤗✌🙏🤗🌈
Your beautiful! Happy New Year. Wishing you the best 2023 has to offer. 🌸
Never heard this in my 42 years as a fan. Thanks brother of light. AKA GNU
These guys tug at my teenage hippie heartstrings SO hard. It's Fillmore West 1970-71 all over again. Their first album is a casket of jewels. And Jerry on pedal steel was (is) from Mars. A zillion thanks for this, gnu.
Yep! You got that right!
(Jerry' still God. LSD still saves.)
🦍Not Fade Away🦍
No kidding! Those '71 shows at the FW and Winterland were the best .... what a blast that was for the band and crowd,. Just incredible, fun energy. Try to find some of that these days.
@@pjbscript there's things happening out there now. "You just gotta poke around." There's new Deadheads born every year. Jesus was a hippie.
@@stefanschleps8758 No, Jerry is not God. Jesus Christ is Lord, & it is he that saves from sin & death. Jerry Garcia knew that. Why don't you? Think about it, brother. Examine yourself. We all need a saviour from sin & death.
Awesome set thanks saw my first Dead show in the Bronx NY Gaelic Park a week after this one no Riders for that my first NRPS was the December 71' NY Felt Forum was hooked went to as many as could after that good to see Davids back

sounds like the legendary Bill Graham on the intro
I am Superman. aka Mr. Reeve. Thanks NRPS. 🐻
Jerry sings the high lonesome sound!!!!!!!❤🎉😊
this might be one of the last shows with garcia on pedal steel before cage replaced him...
I saw him in July 1973, (I think it was July), but it was definitely 1973. RFK DC.
NRPS played a few songs, then invited Jerry to sit the rest of their set and play pedal steel until Leon Russel came on. I wonder what those conversation between Russel and Garcia were like? It's now one minute past midnight, January 1st, 2023. Have a healthy & prosperous new year!
I believe Mickey’s playing drums on this one…
Marma, duke , the man of the hour , no matter what time of day , sweet vocals , may He rest His " Laureles " with Jerry G., there will be , another coming , for those of , Us , whom believe !
love nelsons style....somewhere between lead guitar and crunchy rythm....I do the same shit...my gibson has that capability...playing alot of solo notes with some full chords here and there, the Nelson style!!! and bring true to the song!!!......I HEAR A WHOLE DIFFERENT RYTHM SECTION riffing off the regular rythm drums and all, I am still still trying this, alot times my drummer just dosent get it, mostly he does....when it does, it co-alesces!!! thats when it really gets good....I want to be david nelson for a day!!!
@dad 🧐
Love ya my friend!! beat me here lol
Could we have loved them more - And Jerry Garcia in his tuxedo and tennis shoes ❤
This is Great GNU! Any word on the next Caution Jam or WS Dupree?
Is that Bill Graham introducing them?
yep

Who is in this picture? I recognize Garcia in the back, who are the other 3 gentleman?😊
Somebody robbed the glendale train
..and they made off with the gold.
Can someone tell me whose playin what I’d appreciate it
Jerry, David Nelson, and I think Marmduke. Not 100% sure about this, and I know I’m forgetting someone.
@@davidlilker6054 Dave Torbert, bass, and drummer was Spence Dryden on the record, but here I'm not sure.
@@RobHollanderMusic I’m pretty sure that you are right about Dave Tolbert. I think I will have a chat with our mutual friend, Mr. Wikipedia...
Jerry on peddle steel, david Nelson on lead, torbert bass, Dryden on drums and marmaduke rhythm and lead vocals
@@terrymurphy1647 Yeah, that seems right - and if I'm not mistaken, the introduction was Bill Graham... sure sounded like Bill
