Psychic TV - Towards Thee Infinite Beat Waxtrax Vinyl - FULL ALBUM

- This is a needle drop performed on Psychic TV's Towards Thee Infinite Beat LP.
Audio hardware:
Rega RP1 w/RP3 glass platter
Groovetracer Reference subplatter
Pro-ject natural cork mat
Nagaoka MP110 cartridge
Budgie Tube Pre-amp (parksaudiollc.com/budgiepreamp...)
Yamaha R-S500 receiver in PureDirect mode
Audio info: ripped to 24/96 format, declicked via ClickRepair, 22khz cutoff applied, 25hz and below cutoff applied, normalized and DC offset balanced. Otherwise the audio is direct from the turntable untouched. The entire album came in at 4GB uncompressed, I'm hoping the conversion from 24/96 to the smaller format in the video didn't hurt it too much.
Comment and subscribe if you want, I'll be doing a few more needle drops of this type of stuff soon. - Hudba

Nayla Viggiano thx for the tracklist!
Excellent, thanks
some one gave me an older ptv cassette around 1991 in detroit or dayton. it was the best thing i have ever heard. think i may have a copy in basement. was simple just hand written physic tv, never seen an album to match. same night some one slipped me a cabaret Voltaire album on cassette.. also, was given copious amounts of hallucinogens....
Ahhhh! Amazing album took my first pill to this in 90s danced for a day & a half!! RIP Gen,you are a godstar xxx❤️💋💋💋
This brings back some memories. I was lucky enough to be apart of the late 80s beginning of the LA's Acid House scene. There was a period in the early 90s where Industrial and Acid had babies. Great times. $20 and free beer till it ran out in illegal LA warehouses.
I remember getting altered with my bud Orlando then...we watched a TOPY VHS that i never shall forget. RIP GenPorridge! 😙🤘
Me too
One of the greatest pioneering Acid House records. I remember entering highschool growing up in Chicago where Wax Trax once stood and being, and still, very proud of this record. So should Wax Trax label as should all the then members of PTV.
I would frequent the Denver Wax Trax location every now and then. I was able to purchase so many awesome albums.
I was there in Chicago as well, circa 1990/91. Someone in my high school art class played a cassette dub of this Wax Trax cd, and then there was no turning back for me. There was just something about it, lurking beneath the music, waiting to be explored. Every six months it seemed I would run into a another PTV disciple. Crystal gem of an album that happens to be acid house.
Dance on Wee Star
i had sent poems to topy gen used abit on this n says thanks jackie for words on inner sleave whoo hoo
"water is the source of all life. 7 tenths of this Earth's surface is water. 70% of you is water.
Water. that's what I'm getting at. Water - (Dr Strangelove)
Sterling Hayden was so well cast as General Jack Ripper. This film is quotable. In fact my family is getting tired of me quoting it lol
I admire genesis and his life. He thumbed his nose at any that would stifle him and blazed his own strream of fire across the nightsky. Sleep in the stars Gen, or not, the choice is still yours to make.
Great dancing music... Early 90's...the real thing... Without so many wannabes.. Infinite thanks Genesis and Paula for these unique sounds and beats
thanks for post. a favorite LP of PTV, purchased when it came out. and 'Allegory' and Force The Hand', Roman P Sordide single, and certain parts of their many releases …saw them '86 at 'Underground club' in Milwaukee, spectacular performance, +sounded especially great in concert. i relate more to TG, but i kept a fondness of all they've done up to present.
Loved this period/managed a few gigs at the time of this album/blissful listening to it again/thanks
Gen signed this album for us on my Birthday - with Happy B-earth-day
I only just found out, temporally...been getting farm in during quarantine...yet, i have felt Off, and seen GPO's smiling face on YT for a week. Eostre...i have a fire for my long time friend!
Thee Psychick Bible brought me here
1992 cassette repeat, repeat, repeat
Me too. Still have the cassette.
Much obliged afro! Nice to see brilliant works recorded in quality in the digital age.
This album with some album from Cabaret Voltaire from this era (Code, Groovy, laidback and nasty and Body and soul) are pionners of the Acid and transe music...still good today!
so ahead of it's time...i loved this album
a thing of beauty your needle drop is. quite better than my CD. thank you for this.
OMG thank you I’ve lost this album years ago I’m plugging back in to the harmonic frequency again
Thanks for taking the time and doing the work!
My pleasure.
so nice
great to hear this again
Production on this is amazing 🔮
It sounds wonderful. Thank you. 😊
Memories lost and found..one love..🥰😉😋😊
My record collection and your rig should hang out. I have all the PTV vinyl and no record player. :)
It should all be ripped and shared so nicely.
Thanks for the upload.
Thank you for this!!!
Stellar rip; I'm just getting into vinyl and have not been able to get my records to sound this clean.
I take great pains, starting with a pretty nice pressing. Okki Nokki record cleaner, anti-static gun, needle cleaner (a little sticky gel pad), and a fairly inexpensive setup. The tubes in the preamp are doing some work here also. I think they're genalex golds, matched pair. They add just the right amount of color.
saw ptv live once
psyche!
im here cus of dylan ross!! this is awesome!
The music is still circulating, which is what matters. Glad you like it.
gLadd Ross sampled Intezone by Psychic TV, right?

Glad you liked it!
enjoying this quite a bit
Classic--love I.C. Water!
Whoa, dude who ripped this from vinyl has some pretty serious gear, heh. Sounds really good even given CZcams's compression requirements.
b.e. hydomako it's my gear, details in the description. Nothing too expensive, just well matched. :)
Yeah, I had to go to CZcams to watch the video, so I saw yer name, afrosheenix, and read the description. :)
Gear doesn't have to be ridiculously priced to sound good--I'm no "audiophile," but a bit of a "hobbyist," say--going through yer list and hearing the results (even with the compression)--all sounds good, which is really the bottom line.
I have an RP1 myself, all stock (at the time of purchase it came with the "newer" carbon needle), but it still sounds pretty good to me, heh.
I am curious about the ClickRepair software you used: is it pretty straight forward and not much in the way of fiddling or is it more complicated to use?
I keep meaning to get on ripping some of my records (especially the stuff not available on CD or other digital formats, anyway), but keep putting it off. What do you use for your base audio program--Audacity or something else?
b.e. hydomako Clickrepair is dead easy but sometimes you have to keep an ear on it. Audiogon and some other forums have recommended settings. I use audacity to record and split tracks. Can't beat free. :)
Yes, free is good! And thanks for answering my questions, afrosheenix, and pointing me towards more info--much appreciated. :)
A few more questions, if you don't mind: do you adjust the level before exporting the final split tracks (or single take) or simply export as is after applying the low and high pass filters? Or I suppose that is the "normalized" part, yes? And the "DC offset balanced" part--is that a function in Audacity?
Yes, you might be able to tell I've yet to rip even a single record, heh.
Also, looking through your gear specs, I can't tell which piece, if any, acts as your audio interface to get the audio into the box--what are you using in that regard?
I love how Paula had been drumming like that for years and then Acid House came along and "blat blat blat" on one drum suddenly became trendy.
Matthew Best played drums on this LP not Paula.

YES!
Top 3 inspired niver the same after, haven't heard it for years
Sounds pretty Lou Reed-ish and Velvet Underground. Also, a little like Japan on some songs!
Just picked this up in cd form for 10 bucks and I was pleasantly surprised
It was the start of a new era of sound for them. This album, beyond thee infinite beat (remixes), Ultrahouse and Peak Hour rounded it out. Jack Thee Tab is earlier and halfway to this sound. Check em out.
Side A
"Infinite Beat"
"Bliss"
"Drone Zone"
"S.M.I.L.E."
"I.C. Water"
Side B
"Black Rainbow"
"A Short Sharp Taste Ov Mistress Mix"
"Horror House"
"Jigsaw"
"Alien Be-In"
Theres some actual differences between format. Bliss, IC Water and Alien Be-In are edited shorter on here. Its known nowadays due to the amount of websites listing credits for music, but back in the day many people didnt realize the acid era had Dave Ball of Soft Cell on synth.
Are you from the States or Europe? When I got the LP in New York in 1990, I think these were the track lengths. And Alien Be-In wasn't on my copy. I'm not sure if different shores had different releases but mine was a single LP and to accommodate those lengthy mixes, I would guess there must have been a 2 × LP release also. (Of course the CD has the long tracks).
@@sex6cult9revolution Alien Be-In is on all officially vinyl copies. They only did a single disc for this one. Beyond infinite beat got a 2x12'' release.
@@eightcoins4401 I must be wrong then. A friend halfway across the country has my copy - I'll have to get it back because now I'm curious. I guess it was just Money For E and that track with the Ali sample that got excluded.
I also noticed that Drone Zone here is way too short.
@@sex6cult9revolution Id assume you mean Stick Insect with "the track with the ali sample"?
@@eightcoins4401 Yes, sorry. Thank you, that one. It's been a while LOL
Glad I'm not a miner!
Hehe I used to listen to it as a minor

It took me a long time to realize what the infinite beat is. It's your heartbeat. The first and last beat you hear in this life.

I AM fucking awesome !!!
Indeed sir.
A question - this sounds slightly edited? The CD version of the album I always knew, features way longer mixes of the tracks... + "Money For E" is missing?
This is the original vinyl album on waxtrax. Nothing cut or edited. However Cleopatra did reissue some songs on "Evolution of the Species" volumes one and two which were longer edits by Genesis P Orridge. This is the original and is considered the right version.
afrosheenix thanx for the info - I just asked, because both, the Wax Trax CD and later edition on Visionary records both feature all these tracks, some of which are slightly longer/extended in the mix, plus "Stick Insect" and "Money For E" happen to be omitted here... Just saying :)
+antunivanovic interesting, you're right that the waxtrax CD had 2 additional tracks that were cut from the vinyl album. Must have been a space / time consideration.
+afrosheenix +antunivanovic Indeed the original Wax Trax CD had 2 additional tracks. Clumsy fade out of "Infinite Beat". The edit of "Yes Hello" on the LP is really butchered. The CD is the complete version.
Please
Is there anything out there like a documentary about Genesis P?
I just know so little and what little I know is so interesting!
& Thank you
There are some CZcams videos scattered around from earlier and later years but most stuff is probably in print and was never converted. Old magazines like Mondo 2000 may have interviews with him and the band. I haven't seen any good definitive books on him, throbbing gristle or ptv.
Okay, well maybe I found myself a little project. Thank you for responding! I can't help but feel like there is something to learn from this
There is one called the Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye
There is a book : painful but fabulous by gpo

I bought a copy of this at Wax Trax .
Lucky. This is a wax trax pressing.
I still have a teeshirt that I got there in the 1980's , and no it doesn't still fit .
can i have it,i'll give you exactly that which you adore
Me too. Chris Connolly cashed me out!
Notice any difference in audio quality from the original rip?
Hard to say since the system it was recorded on can't play CZcams videos. It's very close though.
What do you use to clean the albums? I have a VPI-hw-19(vacuum), cleans better than new in some cases...
Nathan Pitman Okki Nokki rcm, very similar, and a zerostat3. I recorded this before I got the Okki though, this just made a trip through the old spin clean.
I never really got around to listening to much psychic tv stuff... throbbing gristle yeah but not this. It’s got mad funk to it! Reminds me a lot of MBM stuff and Coil...
Too bad he’s gone now.

Do gen and company get anything from our listens?
considering all the ads or service payments
Caleigh Fisher not unless ads are prerolling, but I don't claim copyright or monetize the music.
afrosheenix no shade on you. You are in a spirit of sharing, CZcams is the hoarder. :)
Caleigh Fisher no problem. Looks like ads do roll, and I think Gen's label gets revenue because they have the claim.
not a cent butter we'd rather thee music is heard than not heard
No, we don't make any money from CZcams.
