I think the prime example would be an Album by Slayer called "God Hates Us All". Specifically Track 2 "Disciple", not only was the Album released on 9/11/01, but the lyrics are something that also didn't age well. A few of my favorites are:
"Not once has anyone ever seen
Such a rise of pure hypocrisy."
"Strive for peace with acts of war
The beauty of death we all adore."
    (This one tho...)
"Pessimist, terrorist targeting the next mark
    Global chaos feeding on hysteria
Cut throat, slit your wrist, shoot you in the back fair game."
"Man made virus infecting the world
    Self-destruct human time bomb."
Slayer somehow managed to write a song about a horrible tragedy and the hypocrisy that followed after, before it all even went down.

The Band System of a Down released their second album, Toxicity, a week before 9/11, and the band's reaction was intense. Not only did their nation get attacked, but they also made an entire album calling out US foreign and domestic policies.
Many radio stations around the nation didn't play any of the new System songs cause of the events of 9/11 and the subjects that SOAD focused on with the making of Toxicity. Which adds fuel to the fire of the cultural importance and impact of toxicity.
Also, a side note the lead singer of the band Serj Tankian wrote an essay on the events of 9/11 and from his point of view which criticizes United States Middle Eastern policy leading back from the early 1900s up to then. Many people thought Serj was applauding the terrorist but in reality, he was trying to shed light on why the attacks happen and how trying to fight terrorists only creates more terrorists. And to Serj's credit, the point he had was correct as 20 years after 9/11 the effects of the war on terror and the United States foreign policies are still affected worldwide.

This is the essay Serj wrote excellent read that puts everything into perspective of the time post 9/11
      Understanding Oil
      By Serj Tankian
      9/13/2001
"The brutal attacks/bombings this week in New York, and Washington D.C., along with threats of attacks there and elsewhere in the country have changed our times forever. While the mass media concentrates on the details of the destruction, and the blanketed words of politicians, I will attempt to understand and explain the events from the fence. BOMBING AND BEING BOMBED ARE THE SAME THINGS ON DIFFERENT SIDES OF THE FENCE.
"Terror is not a spontaneous human action without credence. People just dont hijack planes and commit harikari (suicide) without any weight of thought to the action. No one in the media seems to ask WHY DID THESE PEOPLE DO THIS HORRIFIC ACT OF VIOLENCE AND DESTRUCTION?
"To be able to understand the answer to this, we must first look at our U.S. Mideast Policy. During most of the 20th century, U.S. businesses have worked on attaining oil rights and concessions from countries in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. After WWI, secret back door deals by our State Dept. yielded oil rights from then defeated Turkey to fields in what is now Iraq and Saudi Arabia, in return for looking the other way at a crime against humanity, the Genocide of the Armenians by the Turks. Oil profits have been the motivating factors behind many attempts at counterinsurgency of democratic regimes by the CIA and the U.S in the Middle East (such as Iran in the 1950s, where the Shah replaced the Prime Minister who refused to give up oil rights to the U.S., and since the people couldnt deal with the Shah, an extremist government headed by the Ayatollah Khomeini ultimately prevailed). During the Iran-Iraq war, America supplied both sides with weapons and advice. These are not the actions of a rich superpower wanting peace. Lets not forget that Saddam Hussein, before being Americas vision of the Anti-Christ, was a close ally of the U.S., and the CIA. So what was the firm belief system of consecutive American administrations that caused all this to occur ? PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST WILL LEAD TO HIGHER OIL AND GASOLINE PRICES. Lets not also forget the power of the Arms industry, disguised as defense, that still sells billions of dollars of weapons to the area. Therefore it has not been in the short-term economic interest of the U.S. to foster Peace in the Middle East. Using the above reasoning, the U.S. has encouraged extremist governments, toppled democracies, as in the case of Iran to replace it with a monarchy, rigged elections, and many more unspeakable political crimes for U.S. businesses abroad. Lets not also forget the Red Scare. During the war between the then Soviet Union and Afghanistan, the U.S. armed and supported the Taliban, a fundamentalist Muslim organization, and allowed them to export opium and heroin out of their country to pay for those weapons. Therefore the Taliban rose to power and control with the help of the U.S.A. Today, the bombing of Iraq still continues, no longer covered by the media, the economic embargo still remains, killing millions of children, and recently, while the world and the U.N. General Assembly have cried out to bring in peacekeeping forces into Israel and Palestine, to end the escalated war and recent assassinations, the U.S. has vetoed the rest of the Security Council and has halted the possibility of peace, there, in the most volatile place in the world.
"People in Serbia, Lebanon, Iraq, Sudan, and Afghanistan to name a few have seen bombs fall, not always at military targets and kill innocent civilians, as the scene in New York city yesterday. The wars waged by our government in our names has landed smack in the middle of our living room. The half hour of destruction closed down all world financial markets, struck the central headquarters of our military, and had our leaders running into bunkers, and our citizens into fear and frenzy. What scares me more than what has occurred is what our reactions to the occurrences may cause. President Bush belongs to a long generation of Republican Presidents who love war economies. The media has only concentrated on the bombings, if you will, and what type of retaliations are looming for the perpetrators. What everyone fails to realize is that the bombings are a reaction to existing injustices around the world, generally unseen to most Americans. To react to a reaction would be to further sponsor the reaction. In other words, my belief is that the terror will multiply if concrete steps are not taken to sponsor peace in the middle east, NOW. This does not mean that we should not find the guilty party(s), Bin Laden, or whoever they may be, and not try them. Put simply, as long as a major injustice remains, violence precipitates to the surface of life.
"Native American folklore, the Bible, Nostradamus, and many other major religious beliefs point to this era with the visuals of yesterdays disasters, and conditions of ecological disasters we experience daily in our lives today. War, rumors of war, famine, long burning fires, etc., are at our doorstep. We can prevail over this possible vision with the power of the human spirit, understanding, compassion, and peace. ITS TIME TO PUT OUR NEEDS FOR SECURITY AND SURVIVAL, ACHIEVED ONLY THROUGH PEACE, ABOVE AND BEYOND PROFITS, ESPECIALLY IN THESE TIMES.
      SOLUTION:
"The U.S. should stop sidestepping the U.N. Security Council, and allow U.N. Peacekeeping troops and missions to the Middle East. Stop the violence first.
"Stop the bombing and patrol of Iraq.
"With today's gains in the use of alternative fuels, develop them to full usage with autos and other utilities, to make the country less dependant on an already depleting natural reserve, oil.
By initiating peace, we would have already shaken the foundations of support for Bin Laden, and/or all those that sponsor activities like those we saw yesterday, and break the stronghold of extremists on the world of Islam. On the other hand, if we carry out bombings on Afghanistan or elsewhere to appease public demand, and very likely kill innocent civilians along the way, we[']d be creating many more martyrs going to their deaths in retaliation against the retaliation. As shown from yesterdays events, you cannot stop a person whos ready to die."

An example I can think of is 'Variations on a Cloud' by ミラクルミュージカル (Miracle Musical). It was released on 9/11/12 and was primarily based on 9/11. The thing is, its not explicitly mentioning the attacks. It has vaguely suggestive lyrics like "it's a little bit of magic to end the world" and "ok jump to end it all". Although, I believe that it is about the importance of remembering the tragedy as the lyric "keep it coming back" is repeated over and over again.

some say that the whole Hawaii Part II Album was connected to 9/11 because of the name, featured songs (Dream Sweet in Sea Major and Introduction to the Show if i remember correctly) and the words of main creator of Miracle Musical Joe Hawly. Joe referenced 9/11 many times then talking about Hawaii Part II and it's easy enough to find the words in songs that reference the incident and i think it's very cool

    • @cumulusbrume
      @cumulusbrume Před rokem +35

i must mention, hawaii part ii in its entirety also has a vague theme of 9/11. joe hawley stated that the roman numerals in the title represented the twin towers and he also called miracle musical a “world trade center musical” in this interview: czcams.com/video/pGZE4nYci7U/video.html. the theme isn’t very obvious, however, some lines from songs in the album that can easily be connected to 9/11 are “all mine towers crumble down, the flowers gasping under rubble” from the mind electric (which might not be intentional, but still can be interpreted as a reference to 9/11.), “believe me darling, the stars were made for falling, like melting obelisks as tall as another realm” and “it feels like flying, but maybe, we’re dying” from dream sweet in sea major, “you’ll live forever tonight” from introduction to the snow, and “throw yourself and you’ll live forever tonight” in space station level 7 (i don’t know if that translation is correct, but it’s something like that). labyrinth in general is most likely about trying to escape the twin towers. there’s so much more, but these are just the ones off the top of my head.

The video is called, “World Trade Center Visit By Jim and Lina 8/13/01”.
It’s a nice glimpse into the world a month before the attack and even a look into the Windows of the World Restaurant.

One of the songs that played in the plaza at the time of the attack was “How Deep is Your Love” by The Bee Gees (as it was part of the plaza’s playlist).
It was a very specific version of the song from Environmental Muzak that was actually rediscovered last year and uploaded to a channel called PRE-9/11 WTC. It’s actually a really nice cover.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
      Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
      2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
      Jesus

For what it's worth, the massive synchronicity surrounding 9/11/01 is probably not mere coincidence. In television and film, this is most clearly seen, with TV shows like The Lone Gunman, movies like Back to the Future, etc. It seems that, for whatever reason, 9/11 had to happen, and we always knew it would.

If you ever want to make another video on a kind of similar vein to this, I would suggest checking out the Clear Channel Communications' ban list. In short, after 9/11, the CCC, now IHeartMedia, released a massive list of songs to be pulled from their radio stations, and since they owned most of the radio stations in the country, it meant they were effectively banned from radio play. These included some understandable choices, like AC/DC's "I Feel Safe In New York City" or Don McLean's "American Pie," considering that's entirely about a deadly plane crash, some... questionable choices, such as the entirety of Rage Against The Machine's discograophy for being deemed "too anti-american," and some outright bizarre ones, such as The Bangles' "Walk Like An Egyptian" being banned for "referencing the Middle East" or Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" for... I honestly have no idea.

Nothing was ever really healthy about this place when considering its history, but things have never been the same since. They literally still charge a tax for all passengers when flying for this event even though it's been two decades now. The past twenty years have been nothing but reactionary in response to threats that weren't even what we were told they were, and I remember reading about it in magazines before social media took off. Hawaii Part ii also has 9/11 connection and most people only mention Variations On A Cloud but let me explain my interpretation since Hawaii Part ii has two meanings one being a man being possessed, killing his wife, going crazy, then dying just to realize he doesn’t really love his dead wife anymore and that they don’t feel love, however if all the songs have a 9/11 meaning then here’s my interpretation,
“Introduction To The Snow”: this song may mean the people that lost all hope/ know they’re dead already since they’re inside the towers hoping “you’ll live forever tonight”
“Isle Unto Thyself” could mean the process of the people outside the towers watching and hearing about the attacks as they unravel, wondering the American Dream/meaning since the 9/11 attack made America have a bad image since the promise of America was that it and its people would never get harmed.
“Black Rainbows” this one is tricky since it doesn’t really have any resemblance to anything to the towers or attacks, however it could be as simple as someone remembering happy memories now horrified as they die
“White Ball” could also mean the people within the tower who are lovers, loving till they die, dancing, singing, till they burn or collapse.
“Murders” are the people who fake it, for example in the original band called Tally Hall (mostly the band behind this project) made a song and animation called “Hidden In The Sand” that shows different things for example it shows how the people act all happy and friendly at first but as soon as the boat starts sinking, it shows people’s true nature, pushing people, trying to get out, only to die quickly, however the captain who always falls with the ship, dies last, with Honor, so Murders could mean the people in 9/21 who showed their true nature trying to get out, while the people stuck left with hope, were getting out or dying saying their last wishes and prayers for their love ones, or in most unfortunate cases, with fear.
“Space Station Level 7” this one’s a bit weird for 9/11 theme, but my guess is the people within the plane since most calls from the plane knew they were going to die since they couldn’t really do anything against the terrorists which is why SSL7 has many Heaven theme/topic
“The Mind Electric” probably my favorite song could mean the people losing themselves within the building, and the chaos outside, sort of being a climax to everything showing all the chaos happening in the reverses section but in the unreversed part showing the chaos but we understand it a little bit better and in the end the song ends with “never they ponder wether electric calming if you look at it right”
“Labyrinth”: this could definitely mean the people in the towers trying to get out but find no exit and in the end lose hope
“Time Machine” is most likely the people remembering their happiest memories, while trying to convince others to remember with them.
“Stranded Lullaby” could mean lovers in the song who aren’t happy but rather spending their time alone together trying to think happy but just think about the bad things
“Dream Sweet In Sea Major” Is a reprise of “Introduction To The Snow” but it continues Which reminds me of a person, I unfortunately forgot his name but his story was he went up the towers where he would find people and sing “it’s a proud day to be American” trying to cheer up people instead of leaving them in dread like how my interpretation of “Introduction To The Snow” is but instead the people die happy, happy to be American, unfortunately the person who went up the tower to save or at least cheer up the people, died in the attack and May everyone who died in the attack rest in peace.
“Variations On A Cloud” is the people on top of either tower. Arguing, both being either Religious or non believer, whether they should jump or burn.

Like damn, I was writing a video script for the mario movie to relate to young millenials and some zoomers by mentioning a hypothetical situation of getting Mario 64 as a first Mario game....And that made my cousin feel old, now I know how he feels lmao

I love the Moldy Peaches. I’ve heard a fair share of weird music, and while some may be weirder than it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything weird in the same way as that album. Kinda annoys me that they have this cutesy twee band reputation because of Anyone Else but You and Juno, because they are so out there and silly with their music.

There is one sign you forgot about that I know of, limp Bizkit performed rolling on top of the world trade center on the 10th of September 2001, they were the last group to perform on the wtc

I thought you were going to mention Rollin' by Limp Bizkit, as the music video of the song has parts filmed at the top of the WTC, and receiving an MTV VMA award and being thanked by the WTC management team days prior to the attack.

Off topic but I'm actually friends with the guy who made that Roblox recreation of NYC! His entire interest is in 9/11 and life before the twin towers, really cool guy.

I remember I was taught this song in 4th grade: "Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)" by Alan Jackson. It's a country song from 2002, but it gets that feeling across, even if you weren't there to experience the terror.

hey! the strokes also ended up dropping their critically acclaimed debut in the us on 9/11 “is this it?”. The album was released beforehand internationally with the track “New York City Cops” talking about how “they ain’t too smart”. this track would be promptly removed in replacement for “When it Started?”

You should do a video about how that one black metal band mayhem tried to kill each other!(and succeeded)
That’s one of my favorite conversation starters with people who aren’t well versed.
You definitely deserve more viewers and subs!
