Hai i'm from Dharmapuri. I've crossed Thoppur more than 500 times until now, even i've crossed untimely too. The turn that u mentioned, where lots of accidents occurred, my concern is that there is no supernatural or unnatural things behind those accidents. The accident occur only because of Physics problem, in the construction of the Highway.

Same thing happened on my return from KGF to Trichy, my bike slowdown and couldn’t accelerate more in the same ghat section at night time around 9:30, before realising anything, I drove the bike with full stretch and halted only at salem..

I am from Salem and I have crossed Thoppur ghat road many many times. The problem there is over speeding and over loading. Which makes the vehicle uncontrollable. To avoid over speeding at one point of them there used to be lot of humps. Regular drivers know about the hump so while descending they go carefully. But new drivers without knowing will apply sudden breaks and this caused lot of accidents. And later they removed all the humps which again increased rash driving. The the reason for trucks moving slow is because of over weight and the long inclined roads. Because this over weight and slow moving the road will be spoiled very quickly. This is the actual fact of that 3.5 km section.... And this place is also infamous of night time robbery... But it was in past 15-20 years back and it’s no more now... Apart from that there is no haunting and all there...

There is no spirit, as long as ppl didn't take spirit while driving everything will be normal. I born and bought up in Dharmapuri, I used to travel to Salem for my sister home, Erode/Perundurai for studies. I used to go in bike too. In 90s, there was only two lane. Slowly it was converted to 4 lane in early 20s first at thoppur area. I still remember some punjabi's they used to grind the mountains for more than 2 - 3 yrs to cut mountains. It was done by L&T.
Driving is art, if everyone follow rules and go with caution, all these non sense spirit stories wont exists.

Bro this is 101% true. My dad’s native is Dharmapuri. Last week we went there from Coimbatore and while returning it was already 1 AM. I was driving and while reaching nearer to this area, my dad reminded me to lock the car doors and windows. He also told me to not drive too fast and also never ever drive too slow, whatever happens find a gap and drive away just don’t stop. Hey bro, I'm from Bangalore riding an Rc390 2017. I just realised this that I did my kolli hills ride in 2018 with another friend on his bike. I just realised the same thing happening to my bike in the same junction. Before Salem and I googled to see my route it was the same thoppur junction. My bike did not fall into any other gear except the first gear no problem and not even a year old bike I had this problem but back then I thought it was the bikes fault but I for the next three years I never had any other problems like that. Wow it just came to my notice that this happened in the same pass and then when I reached Salem it was fine. Thanks for bringing this into my realisation , ride safe.
