Uncomfortable conversations need to happen. Arteta needs an upgrade on the wingers as they are VERY replaceable. Martinelli has 0 IQ, runs into blind alleys. Just a kick and run merchant with bad technique. Saka when it really matters disappears. Everyone tells me about his G-A, I’m all about the eye test and he isn’t that good to what he’s being rated at, at all. Basic winger with no skill. Don’t get me started on Havertz lol. It's all far too choreographed. I think Arteta views players through a rather narrow, spatially restrictive lens. Saka almost routinely cuts inside, one-twos with Odegaard and/or then looks to shoot. It's as though he's been earmarked almost exclusively as a principal goal scorer and edge of the box link-up player... of course, there's nothing necessarily wrong with this but a slightly more rounded skillset and greater positional adventurousness wouldn't go amiss. Arteta's favoured patterns of play will work against lesser sides but if there's no variation or deviation then quality, well-coached teams will wise up and snuff them out. There's a fundamental lack of expressiveness and depth to Saka's football - it's the same runs every week... also think there's an fitness/mentality issue too. Lack of rotation hasn't helped.
Surprisingly Martinelli played excellent last season. Is the "control football" confused him? The manager should be able to take him to the next level. Martinelli is not fit. He could not sprint against Villa - which is one of his. strengths. He only played today because he tracks back and provides cover for Tomi.

We crumble in April every year because the squad isn't good enough. The manager can't rotate because the quality isn't there on the bench, so inevitably we get into the tail end of the season and all of the starters have run out of gas.
And that's on Arteta, can't be extending the contracts of people like Nketiah, Nelson, ESR if you don't trust them. Buying players like Fabio V., Kiwior, Havertz who aren't up to the level. He's wasted money. With that 65m wasted on Havertz, we could have got Kudus or Diaby who were 35-40m each. There were also 8's out there who we could have gone for who are better in that position than Havertz. I have no sympathy or excuses for this manager. His ego, stubbornness and inexperience let's down all the good work he has done

The biggest mistake arteta made at buying or selling a player has been emi martinez. The man is the best goal keeper in the world right now. Raya is a good keeper but doesn't feel me with any confidence whatsoever . I haven't seen raya make any world class save til now and haven't seen him bailing us out at certain situations where we were almost sure to concede. While I personally don't think Arteta should be sacked at the moment, I have to say that there is a startling reluctance from certain sections of the fanbase (and associated social media channels/blogs) to acknowledge his teams' tendency to underperform in crunch moments. There's always an excuse... and I have no doubt in my mind that there's an agenda there. Anyway, Arteta needs to address this team's mentality in decisive moments and reconceptualise his idea of squad depth. There's an overemphasis on positional versatility over numeric depth and core attributes/skillsets. Kai Havertz epitomises it. Havertz is the signing of a manager who thought he could address two glaring deficits (midfield and CF) in one fell swoop. As it turns out, Havertz is a slightly above average false 9/second-striker who is virtually useless when instated anywhere deeper than the 10 role. Far from the elite striker or #8 we craved and certainly not value for money. Arteta needs to get real and start signing proven, quality specialists now... increased mental and offensive coaching are almost musts.
Think this underperforming in crunch moments is overinflated though that can be a factor. We’ve dropped points this season and past seasons at different points, we also drop some in the end. Does that necessarily mean that’s all on the pressure at that time? I see some people include the top 4 race in that from 2 seasons ago. Do people remember what happened in the last 10 PL games then? Tierney, Partey, Tomiyasu were injured and we had no starting striker. We had some wins and losses in that 10 game run, that’s not failing cause of the pressure, our team just weren’t good enough.
Nearly 5 years in charge, spent more then any other PL Manager since he arrived, only 1 FA Cup 4 years ago to show for it. Bottled last season, we've blown the CL most likely we won't win the PL so another trophyless season. When is enough enough.

The build up was slow and predictable, without Partey, Saka has not thrived without the quick and forward passes of Partey, with Rice, the teams defence improved, the the build up suffered!

my problem with the team is we were so excited for the players coming back from injury because they were suppose to help us end the season with some energy atleast but they arent even getting a run in. i just think arteta has trust issues with players so he goes for the easy choices. he just dont rotate the team enough or know how or when to do so. we look like we are running out of steam again energy wise and tacticly from the manager

Even as an lfc fan I totally agree with you Curtis unlike us with klopp he had experience in big nights and winning big trophies against Bayern before coming to Liverpool. Arteta and arsenal should have been regularly and consistently trying to win the carabao and FA cup (even tho you have the most) just to rebuild the winning trophy mentality for the players and not just go for the big ones right off the bat.

the issue just stems from not having a striker thats capable of pinning back two centre backs people can joke about haaland all they like but he occupies two players to help create the width. we also need a lb as each of the current ones we have are so limited one can pass but cant defend, the other can defend but is mediocre going forward, and tomiyasu just isnt natural in that position and is only good against opposite footed players. also every game we might as well play with just two midfielders because the likes of jorginho or havertz when he is put in there offer little to nothing in terms of ball retention, tackling or through ball passes. If we want to dominate games we need to keep the likes of odegaard high up the pitch we cant have him collecting balls from deep where he cant dictate the tempo or provide killer passes to the invisible striker. The goal is clear buy a powerful striker like gyokeres, toney or osimhen get a athletic midfield capable of tackling holding the ball and playing forward passes to the creative outlet and find a lb who can both defend and go forward find these three players and we can win things but without them its impossible.

A concerning pattern in the past two games is Arsenal getting tired in the second half and teams knowing it, waiting it out for the first half and then going for the kill in the 2nd half. Arteta has been figured out and that's a problem for him as he has never offered anything remotely original tactics and football wise. He has been coasting by regurgitating what he learned (copied) from Pep but when that idea gets figured out he has nothing to draw from. After all, you can't imitate originality. The players didn't play with heart especially in the second half. We defeated ourselves. Take a look at the city vs real game and you'd see that even deep into extra time both players from both teams were running and putting in a shift, which I felt we lacked. We are our own enemies, an underwhelming performance, Jesus was even offside and he skied the chance he had at that point. These players need to look at themselves in the mirror. Awful dispirited performance, don't know how the remaining 6games go. Anyway on to the next game.

The biggest mistake arteta made at buying or selling a player has been emi martinez. The man is the best goal keeper in the world right now. Raya is a good keeper but doesn't feel me with any confidence whatsoever . I haven't seen raya make any world class save til now and haven't seen him bailing us out at certain situations where we were almost sure to concede. While I personally don't think Arteta should be sacked at the moment, I have to say that there is a startling reluctance from certain sections of the fanbase (and associated social media channels/blogs) to acknowledge his teams' tendency to underperform in crunch moments. There's always an excuse... and I have no doubt in my mind that there's an agenda there. Anyway, Arteta needs to address this team's mentality in decisive moments and reconceptualise his idea of squad depth. There's an overemphasis on positional versatility over numeric depth and core attributes/skillsets. Kai Havertz epitomises it. Havertz is the signing of a manager who thought he could address two glaring deficits (midfield and CF) in one fell swoop. As it turns out, Havertz is a slightly above average false 9/second-striker who is virtually useless when instated anywhere deeper than the 10 role. Far from the elite striker or #8 we craved and certainly not value for money. Arteta needs to get real and start signing proven, quality specialists now... increased mental and offensive coaching are almost musts.
Think this underperforming in crunch moments is overinflated though that can be a factor. We’ve dropped points this season and past seasons at different points, we also drop some in the end. Does that necessarily mean that’s all on the pressure at that time? I see some people include the top 4 race in that from 2 seasons ago. Do people remember what happened in the last 10 PL games then? Tierney, Partey, Tomiyasu were injured and we had no starting striker. We had some wins and losses in that 10 game run, that’s not failing cause of the pressure, our team just weren’t good enough.
Nearly 5 years in charge, spent more then any other PL Manager since he arrived, only 1 FA Cup 4 years ago to show for it.
Bottled last season, we've blown the CL most likely we won't win the PL so another trophyless season.

The build up was slow and predictable, without Partey, Saka has not thrived without the quick and forward passes of Partey, with Rice, the teams defence improved, the the build up suffered!

my problem with the team is we were so excited for the players coming back from injury because they were suppose to help us end the season with some energy atleast but they arent even getting a run in. i just think arteta has trust issues with players so he goes for the easy choices. he just dont rotate the team enough or know how or when to do so. we look like we are running out of steam again energy wise and tacticly from the manager

Even as an lfc fan I totally agree with you Curtis unlike us with klopp he had experience in big nights and winning big trophies against Bayern before coming to Liverpool. Arteta and arsenal should have been regularly and consistently trying to win the carabao and FA cup (even tho you have the most) just to rebuild the winning trophy mentality for the players and not just go for the big ones right off the bat.

the issue just stems from not having a striker thats capable of pinning back two centre backs people can joke about haaland all they like but he occupies two players to help create the width. we also need a lb as each of the current ones we have are so limited one can pass but cant defend, the other can defend but is mediocre going forward, and tomiyasu just isnt natural in that position and is only good against opposite footed players. also every game we might as well play with just two midfielders because the likes of jorginho or havertz when he is put in there offer little to nothing in terms of ball retention, tackling or through ball passes. If we want to dominate games we need to keep the likes of odegaard high up the pitch we cant have him collecting balls from deep where he cant dictate the tempo or provide killer passes to the invisible striker. The goal is clear buy a powerful striker like gyokeres, toney or osimhen get a athletic midfield capable of tackling holding the ball and playing forward passes to the creative outlet and find a lb who can both defend and go forward find these three players and we can win things but without them its impossible.

A concerning pattern in the past two games is Arsenal getting tired in the second half and teams knowing it, waiting it out for the first half and then going for the kill in the 2nd half. Arteta has been figured out and that's a problem for him as he has never offered anything remotely original tactics and football wise. He has been coasting by regurgitating what he learned (copied) from Pep but when that idea gets figured out he has nothing to draw from. After all, you can't imitate originality. The seasons end could get real ugly now as he has been figured out.

The players didn't play with heart especially in the second half. We defeated ourselves. Take a look at the city vs real game and you'd see that even deep into extra time both players from both teams were running and putting in a shift, which I felt we lacked. We are our own enemies, an underwhelming performance, Jesus was even offside and he skied the chance he had at that point. These players need to look at themselves in the mirror. Awful dispirited performance, don't know how the remaining 6games go. Anyway on to the next game.
