- Anonymity and distance are hallmarks of the persona of Allie X, as are the conflicting concepts of community and acceptance. Whatever Allie X may be, she's hiding it from people with her near-constant accessory: sunglasses.
"Sunglasses in general tie together with the anonymity of becoming X and the protected feeling that becoming X gives me," she explains.
Allie X, and her fans who she encourages to also become X by placing the letter after their own names, only wants to bring people closer to her and at the same time is petrified of anyone getting too close to her. It informs her music, as she tells us, and her style, as she shows us.
