Arsenal bottled top 4 last season due to crucial injuries towards the end of the season as well as a thin squad with young players. The style of play and the progression was always there. It's something only an arsenal fan can understand the rest of the league did not see the progression.
Agree. No Thomas Partey at that end of last season push. They played Elneny. No Tierney and Zincheko was still in Man City. They played Travalia? at left back and that guy has no defence ability. Not this year. The squad depth is a little bit better. Not enough but not that poor comparing with last season.

It's interesting the way the narrative seems to have changed a bit with some Liverpool fans during the season. Early on it was all "go Arsenal, somebody has to stop them & we're not doing it" but now we're getting closer to it there's a lot of bitterness & pointing out City aren't as good as they were.
That narrative can be applied to any team. We can say that Man City and Liverpool could only dominate and win the league because Arsenal, Man United, and Chelsea weren't as good as they used to be

As an Arsenal fan, we are not just excited because we’re at the top of the table, we are excited because of the change in literally everything, the style of football, the title winning mentality where we are like ‘okay, you can score against us, but we will definitely score 2 for every 1 you score’. The progression was always there from Arteta’s first game as an Arsenal manager, and other teams see it. They’re just too scared to admit it
It’s kinda why even when we lost out on top 4 last season, we weren’t really worried because we knew why. Everything is finally clicking because we are checking all the right boxes. And that’s the real worry for other teams. And the funny thing is, those players aren’t even close to their peak yet. Title winning players don't always have to make a title winning side/team. Just look at the title winning Leicester team back in 2016. Point is, Arsenal don't need to be on the same level as teams like Madrid, or City, or Bayern to win titles, and the fact that Arsenal are running the way they are now just makes this season's title race even more interesting and fresh. If anything, Arsenal are one of the reasons why the PL is the best league in the world.

I still find it ridiculous that so many people are totally unable to acknowledge how much Arsenal have improved, how well they’ve performed this season and that they are top of the table on merit.
I stand by what I’ve said before, if Arsenal win the league this season, there will be more people saying they only did it because Man City weren’t at their best, rather than because Arsenal were the best team.
Everyone talking about arsenal bottling last season, our losses came instantly after we lost partey and tierney to injury, and our squad depth was attrocious as clear by the fact that our replacements for those 2 positions were tavares and lokonga both of which are players which you could guarantee a big mistake or two a match. We have depth for every position in the squad now apart from maybe backup for Saka, however I believe trossard/vieira could deputise there effectively enough.

I watched us lose to Spurs last year and while getting the right hump also thought in the back of my mind could this be the making of them. The crash afterwards was expected because we had several games in a row to recover a few times that season. This young kid doesn’t understand how teams evolve and football goes in cycles. Those cycles are augmented by huge influxes of cash these days. He doesn’t get it because he hasn’t experienced it but in the age of social media the young mistake information for wisdom.
Yes we had to invest in our squad but team spirit, hunger, Arteta's quality and detailed nature are virtues that can't be gauged like money. Kids nowadays don't know anything about true football before all these cash influxes. Man city and Chelsea were nowhere before their takeovers. Trossard has impressed since day one. Even at Brighton he was one of their best players and Brighton as we have found out are a pretty good side. Yes, they're not title challengers but Trossard has shown he has the ability to be a starter for a title winning side. So, Jack Grealish is that much better than Trossard? Also, Odegaard is one of the best players in the league this year. Not because of his scintillating skill. But because he is showing true leadership qualities. He sets the example in terms of work rate and mentality. Yes, we didn't get top 4 last year but after those three consecutive games that we lost that we should've won, we won the following three games. These were the harder of the six games!! We lost to Southampton, Palace and Brighton? But then we went and beat Chelsea away, Man utd at home and West Ham away. That shows a lot of character to bounce back and win the harder half of that six game period. Also, how many times have Arsenal gone a goal down or conceded an equaliser this year and responded to win the game? Moreover, Saka missed that penalty at the Euros but came back to Arsenal and took a penalty shortly after from the Euros. That shows a tremendous amount of character especially for someone so young.
Sometimes we have to understand that no one has a singular right to success. City's players were underdogs and were not known at some point in their career. This is the season we got to know the quality of those arsenal players. They are more a unit than any other team in the world rn. Never forget the strength of unity, oneness, one mindedness, that's what the arsenal team have. Jealousy everywhere. If your team was playing like arsenal, you won't play down the players. Sad to see, sad to hear.

Personally, I will be dissapointed if we lose the race and crash LE, but I can't be angry at the lads... I'm happy, for a long time in my life watching them play - they're having a time of their life, the atmosphere on the pitch and in the dressing room is immense and the players feel like a family. We have literally the exact same setup this season with Arsenal barely missing out on top 4 and players that were starting to show worthiness last year. Arsenal are statistically better than Man City in numerous categories and showing they have room to grow. Further, they aren’t playing with an unknown quantity, Arteta knows Pep. It’s inability to accept Arsenal’s meteoric growth this season. Bc man city are dropping points to teams they should beat and Arsenal isn’t.
Last season top 4 wasn't really a discussion for Arsenal after we finished 8th the season prior. Finishing 5th after playing 5-10 crucial games with backup players due to injuries ISN'T bottling top 4.

Arsenal fan here, and I wish people woild stop asking "are we gonna win the league?" It's a prediction question that no one knows the answer to! This question really boils down to two questions, "can we win the league?" and "can we handle the pressure as we draw closer to the last 10 games?" The first has already been answered, the second we'll just have to wait and see. And as far a "bottling it" goes, finishing second at this stage is no blottling the title IMO and anyone who says this is just bitter at our resurgence, any neutral with their wits about them would acknowledge the amazing transformation we've expereinced this season. It’s because they are ready and poised to come down on us for bottling, they are trying to wish it into existence as all their expectations of us doing so become more at risk. As a Liverpool fan he should know best of all that you can win League Titles with players that haven't fought for them before. The iconic front 3 they won the league with consisted of Firmino playing for Hoffenheim in Bundesliga mid-table, Salah playing for Roma in mid-table Serie A and Mane playing for mid-table Southampton. None of these players won a League Title before so by that logic they couldn't have won a PL 🤷😂

You can challenge for a title once you have all the right players at your disposal, creating a never say die mentality over time & having the fans be the 12th man which is the thing that takes the longest to create, we were 2/3rds of the way there last season, we lost our captain who was disrupting the dressing room, most of the players were playing their first season for Arsenal and we had Lacazette leading the line with about 6 injuries to main players in the last 10 games and only JUST missed out on Top 4.

"Everyone else" by default includes Man City tho. You definitely need to be better than tha 2nd place team (Man City) in order to win tha league title.

Arsenal fan here. If Sonny was a bit more balanced in his views on Arsenal, I might agree with him. I look at it like this. We have a tough run to the end of the season. I dont think we can win at City. Best we could do there might be to draw. If we manage a draw there, i think we probably win the title. If we lose there, we would only be 2 points ahead and I think City win the title.Because I can definitely see us slipping once... even if its a draw against Chelsea or Newcastle. City then win on goal difference as I dont see them dropping points from here on.

If that was the case Leicester would've never happened. I'm not comparing Leicester to Arsenal , I'm saying that upsets are what makes this game incredible.
