  • This is an in depth video tutorial on how to make a cute blushing crochet bee. I created this pattern myself through trial and error. I absolutely love how it turned out and I hope you'll follow along and create one yourself! If you do create a bee with me, be sure to send me a picture on my instagram @taylor.peach

    I seriously can't thank you enough. I've wanted to try crochet for awhile now and finally decided to try it. Of course, I didn't want to start off with rows or squares, I wanted to do amigurumi right away. I tried another tutorial and got frustrated. I came across yours and it was a perfect tutorial and I was actually able to do it! It took way longer than it should have and I have a lot of work to do to figure out my tension and where to put my fingers/hands but it's a start. Now I need you to do more tutorials for me to follow hahaha

  • @theducklinghomesteadandgar6639

    @Taylor Peach
    You're tutorial technique is spot on, easy to follow along and easy to understand which are the top skills needed for being a teacher/instructor!!! You also have goldie locks timing. lol! You're not too fast or too slow, you're just right!!! You are great at it all !!!!!!!!!
    Did you know there is a difference in how you wrap the yarn or grab it around the hook/needle? There is the traditional/typical, most often used yarn over(yo) technique, in which the yarn goes over the top of the hook as the hook is grabbing. The other one is called yarn under(yu), in which the yarn goes under the hook as it grabs it. When making a single crochet or higher and you slip through the previous stitch to grab the yarn, pull it through and then grab the yarn again and pulls it through to finish the stitch in most cases. Traditionally/Typically one performs each stitch (yo, yo), the next most common is to (yu, yp) but one could also chose to (yo, yu) or (yu, yu) Yarn over and yarn under describe the direction the yarn goes as the hook grabs it, over the neck or under the neck. I think that is the proper term for the part of the needle that goes from the hook to the typical holding spot, the neck.
    The way the yarn is being grabbed in your video is what is called yarn under, yarn over. The (yu or yo) technique can make a difference in how even a chain turns out when compared side by side. IF alternated or switched back and forth a few times for several stitched chains the difference can literally be easily felt as well. The traditional/typical way of (yo, yo) compared to (yu, yo) also creates a slightly smaller amigurumi, and the over all look of (yo, yo) is the 'V' shape, while the (yu, yo) looks more like an 'X' and some say the look of (yu, yo), also looks a little more professional, due to the side view as it also looks like each stitch and the individual 'X' is neatly blocked in/squared around, in comparison to, the 'V' which looks like the individual 'V's are side by side in the spiral but not separated by a border around it/ in between the. There are several tutorials about this on YT.
    Also, there is a technique called the seamless join/ invisible join/invisible color change which can allow one to basically hide where a new strand is added and most especially where color changes are made so there isn't that off-set look from one color to the next There are two ways of doing this, although most that I've seen only show one way. the easier of the two hides the change where the colors are somewhat off-set at the change yet still leave the zig zag/zipper look between the two colors as it goes around. The other way which is a little more involved hides the off-set join at the start and finish and also smooths out the zig zag/zipper look into a smooth line between the two colors!!! There are many tutorials as well for these on YT, although I have only seen one tutorial who demonstrates both ways. The title of the video is how to make perfect stripes

    Hey! this is a really helpful tutorial, but I'm new to crochet and was wondering if I could swap out the yarn you used for 10mm yarn to get a jumbo bee. If I used thicker yarn, could I still use this same tutorial?

    • @TaylorPeach
      @TaylorPeach  Před rokem

      Yes! Get the size yarn you want and see what size crochet hook that specific yarn calls for. You can use this same pattern for it!

    This is a great tutorial, especially for a noob like me. Mine looks like a....very special bee 😅 the body is all wonky and I put the wings too far apart so they look like floppy lil ears. But no matter, I still love it and rest assured that the mistakes are due to my mistakes and not because of this video! Looking forward to improving and doing more projects!
