I almost had this happen after getting my tires rotated at a Goodyear shop. I drove it about 60 miles and noticed a wobble so I slowed down. my rear end started shaking back and forth and I started hearing a squeaking sound so I pulled over, 3/5 lug nuts had fallen off. Luckly I was only a few miles from the shop that did it so i went there and chewed them out and they had the gall to insist that sometimes this just happens and it wasn't their fault. I had them put 3 new lug nuts on and took the car home and checked all the torques myself, thankfully they were all right this time (I suspect they went over them all when i brought it back) I will NEVER visit that shop again and warn all my friends to stay away.
This was a Subaru Legacy, If it had been a truck I have no doubt the remaining 2 lugs would have snapped off and my wheel would have taken a ride.

It actually happens more than you think. I had a front wheel come off going ~45 MPH, my lug nuts completely stripped out. It doesn't take much, if they are over torqued or under torqued or cross threaded, you're looking at issues and your lug nuts do have a chance at completely stripping out and sending your tire one way and your vehicle another.
Have you seen the damage a flying truck wheel can do? They can continue for 100'ds of yards, and you're talking a 60mph 60LB mass - It can be fatal - easily! Especially if the oncoming vehicle is doing 65/70mph too - you're talking a 120mph collision with a 60LB mass - search youtube for rogue truck tyres.

skojo3e diesel engines actually waste little to no fuel. diesel burns really really slow. i live in Canada and it gets -40 at times and i leave mine running all night so i can get to work in the mornin and it maybe wastes a 16th of a tank. just a little insight!

Just FYI, plug your car in at night if possible. Saves on fuel, environmental issues, and engine running hours are cut down. Trucks running all that time, while it works, shortens the life span of it.
he drives a deisel truck they are hard to start cold my grandpa has a 2004 Cummins we let it sit over night not plugged in
in the morning we had to take my horse to the vet the deisel was gelled up and the batteries were dead it is always better to plug them in or leave them running

Most people don't realize how crazy sensitive the body is to change when you are relaxed. You could've picked up some vibration or that the chassis wasn't following as tight of a line as you're used to, or pretty much anything in between. All that contributes to your subconscious saying something isn't quite right. You can't put your finger on it but you get the feeling that something is wrong or about to happen. Listening to that feeling is what keeps us alive.
