We are back with another international real estate tour, this time in Vojvodina in northern Serbia.

Serbia is amazing, I'm British but my husband is Serbian and we're eager to relocate to live in his village. For £16,000 we can buy a massive house with fertile land, most places have fruit trees e.g. plums, quince, apples, cherry, grapes on vine etc... We both plan to work remotely and hopefully earn similar salaries to what we currently earn. I've visited his village (just outside Subotica) which is not far from where this video was filmed. Just wanted to encourage other young people like us to get out of the bondage of mortgages and just own your property flat out!
Good luck to you both,I'm alone and live in the Netherlands but am planning to go back to my (grand)father's village in bosnian mountains to live there and restart organic farming. All the infrastructure is there,very little investment needed.

The way this guy was talking to the girl/woman like everything she said was replied to with some kind of condescending arrogance when she just was holding back and patiently answering the questions one by one, like he was Mr. Big Shit or something. Did not like his tone at all, very disrespectful. Like he was some kind of big money man which I doubt he is. His driving was also very arrogant and dangerous, she was likely glad to get away from him and to end the relationship between them even if it was strictly business.

@@silb8139 Wow, that bad eh?!?! My ex's daughter was dating one when I walked out of the relationship. And he was one of the many reasons for my leaving, just had a bad feeling about the whole thing. She met him online, seemed to have a good head and a bright future (computer guy) but still, something wasn't right. Maybe someday I'll return to this discussion and do an update on them.

FYI, The longer distance vans and cabs usually take all day, because you have to wait as they pick up other people from far off locations.

Wow the roads in Serbia are really good! The houses reminded me of the dachas I've spent my childhood summers in back in Russia. Russian roads to the villages are mostly impassable though, especially for compact cars.
We really need more Russians in Serbia. Spread the word!

Everething from border of Germany and Austria is eastern Europe to you! Serbia is in South Europe (South east precisly).
This was a really cool video format and Serbia is also a country I am looking at purchasing a property in the future. Also, certain aspects of the country remind me of Russia which is pretty cool! Having more of these type of videos with full tours would be a great way to showcase other countries.

There are some issues that can be a cultural shock but all will be ok.
I'm from Serbia but living in the US now. Trying to figure out how to make money here and live in Serbia. Even if I make $2000/month (bring home) that would be more than enough for a very comfortable life in Serbia. I live in north west Ohio and Banat (where those properties are and where Zrenjanin is) is very similar but forget real hills there. Not even real rolling hills, it is much flatter than Ohio and Indiana. :) I definitely would consider Vojvodina (north part of Serbia, with three major regions Banat, Bačka and Srem) but I would suggest Fruška gora (not so high mountain), not far from Novi Sad (on other side of the river) but still has some hills. Vojvodina and Banat is known by a lot of underground water and that can be a problem on houses by getting moisture in walls. Houses are built by bricks and blocks and they are not great with moisture.
Central Serbia has more mountains and I would check some areas there as well. I'm from Kraljevo, more or less most central city in the country location wise. That area has a lot of nice places to live. Older I get I want to live further from big cities. Belgrade is like NYC, too crowded and too expensive. I think it isn't worth to live there.

The second one is probably the best. Imagine property cheaper than a car. Although some of those you would need navigation to find especially at night.

I live in northen part of Serbia, which is Vojvodina. Where you get a house for 10k is the area with underground water. Your walls will be full of water with first rain coming. Also, there are no jobs, not so many "international" people etc. If you want to live in Novi Sad or Belgrade, you have to pay $1300+ per square meter.
also, there are digital nomads who earn their bucks remotely e.g. fixing computers of old grandmas and grandpas in UK and setting up their wifi etc.

@@axlcinema That depends on many factors.You can find cheap houses in suburbs, renovate them the way you want, and have all the benefits of the city within 20min drive, and as far as I've heard average commute in USA is a lot more than basically if you can work remotely, and keep your income, you can live very comfortably in Serbia.But our government is making it more difficult for foreigners, cause they just want to collect more stupid fees(theyi doing it to us as well).

You should also checkout the very southern part of Bosnia, near Trebinje, Republica Serpska. Warm Mediterranean climate and only about a half hour to Dubrovnik

THIS IS ACTUALLY SCARY!!!!!....Andrew once said that if you where in south America and you didn't know it...their is some idyllic scenery that is almost a replica of California i.e. rolling hills....orange orchards and so on. In the first 3 minutes of this video, if I didn't see the signs, I would have absolutely said you were in Schneider, Indiana. Now I get what he's talking about.....RESPECT AND HONOR BROTHER!

It's very centralised, Novi Sad and Belgrade.. the rest can hardly be considered as cities.There is nothing to do there except agriculture which younger people don't want to do. That's why those places are drying out and you can get houses for cheap. It's not like it's something new... you can find houses, flats in france and spain for 10-15 thousands euros in abandoned villages.

Sounds like a great place to setup a Finca style plantation like people do outside of Medellin, Colombia.

@Philip-Alexander Jach Yes way, a lot of houses in eastern Croatia are vaccant due to owners moving abroad due to lack of job opportunities. I am talking about villages, not cities though.

I dont recall seeing a bathroom. Did they have running water or electricity? Can you drill a well or install a septic system to bring it up to livable?

I dont think you could fix and flip. It makes sense for living, its very cheap to live in Serbia especially in villages, cheap and decent health care. There are some retired people from UK buying houses in Serbian villages and living nice and quite life while having more than enough money with their pensions and in some ceases rents from UK. One couple that i know say that they could never afford to buy a house in UK, they say that taxes are too high, living cost are high and medical expenses are too high...
@@draganmarkovic491 But UK healthcare system is ranked the number 1 in the world. Serbian system is probably around 100th to 140th place. What kind of health insurance these UK expats have?

Great insights. When I was looking to buy a country home in Czechia, I found out that €80 got me 3 floors, a two car garage; a hectare of land, a cellar, and a terrace bigger than my apartment in Prague. 50k in rennovations and I rent it Airbnb for 80 a night. Pay my mortgage and bills with it.
What is vacancy rate in Airbnb in your experience?
moonlight for my small flat in Prague, it’s about 95% occupancy. A bigger property is going to be less. Country house gets about 40%. More in the high season. But that’s enough.
moonlight rule of thumb is if you want to do Airbnb full time, you need 80% occupancy. Otherwise better to rent long term. If you want the property for your own use, then just to cover costs is about 50%.
@@LloydWaldo why is the coverage of costs at 50%? you only need to change bedding, provide toiletries, etc. Maybe paint every year or every two years.
In Belgrade, you live a good life for 1000eur per month, two times better than the highest salary. and if you are in airbnb business, you get 50eur per day.
If you manage to score 9.5+ in reviews, your occupancy will be 100%. But if it is 80%, then 4 5th of 30days is 24 days. Times 50eur = 1200eur.
i.e. you live like a KIng wth only 1 property. Even if you rent this property on a monthly basis because it was in bad shape, so you renovate and advertise on airbnb, you would still earn 900eur in pure net profit

You can buy cheap houses in Bulgaria too depends of the region, situation is the same young ppl move to big citys and only big farmers can stay in vilages that are far from citys.

What type of life will $60K a year buy you in city x.
Accomodation, restaurants, massages, gym membership, movie.
The most expensive gym by far would probably cost you 40-50 euro per month in Sofia and it looks like a nightclub. That is if you sign a long term contract.
In capital cities prices are pretty high comparing to an average salary of 400 euros. Novi sad it's like 1200 euros per square metre, depending of the area beautiful city.In Belgrade you can probably find for same price per m2

Just here in France I once spent hours screening all the properties for sale for $10K. There are just too many of them... Almost nobody wants to live far from the convenience and entertainment a big city offers !

I'm French and very curious where you saw properties at 10k in France. Maybe a little 20 square meter in a very remote village. In France you will not get less than 500e per square meter, for something so so, and that's in the very remote areas, in Auvergne/Creuze/Massif central region for ex. Plus you will have to pay taxes. Plus the roof may not be in the best state
