ASICS is a Japanese multinational corporation which produces footwear and sports equipment designed for a wide range of sports. The name is an acronym for the Latin phrase anima sana in corpore sano, which translates as "Healthy soul in a healthy body". In recent years their running shoes have often been ranked among the top performance footwear in the market
ASICS Ltd. began as Onitsuka Co., Ltd on September 1, 1949 Its founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka, began manufacturing basketball shoes in his home town of Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Soon after the range of sports activities widened to a variety of Olympic styles used throughout the '50s, '60s and '70s by athletes worldwide. Onitsuka became particularly renowned for the Mexico 66[9] design, in which the distinctive crossed stripes, now synonymous with the company brand, were featured for the first time. In 1977, Onitsuka Tiger merged with GTO and JELENK to form ASICS Corporation. Despite the name change, a vintage range of ASICS shoes are still produced and sold internationally under the Onitsuka Tiger label.

Great video! Question: does ASICS produce cheaper shoes for their outlet stores? I tried some pairs on there, and one was clearly out of spec, meaning had some defects. So wondering if they sell their production fallout at the outlet or even use cheaper material and maybe produce in different location compared to regular store?
I don't know whether Asics produces exclusively for outlets. But of course they release some models with more affordable price ranges (depending on the used materials). Asics gel and Amplifoam for instance cannot be in a similar price range.
Such a relief to see this post! I have been buying Asics kayano in Canada for well over 10 years, from regular retail outlets like Sport Chek and Sporting Life. When buying a new pair I typically have to check out three different pairs (usually how many they have in my size) and regularly found differences between the two shoes that might be overlooked by most people but not by me. This was enough to prevent me from buying the shoe in certain years. I remain dismayed that Asics quality control is so poor even for one of their top shoes. That said I have never found a shoe that fits me better.

The replicas aren't sold in official and prestigious stores (i guess you are aware of that). Brands are increasing the authenticity elements but the replica producers are becoming more stophisticated too.

I have never seen an original Asics shoe without any outsole engravings. But it doesn't mean that the opposite is false. Asics MIGHT have produced a few models without that. If you want, you can send me the style number of your shoe and I'll investigate

the elements described in this video are valid even for Asics Sky Elite. However they might not be enough, as replicas are getting increasingly better nowadays. If I come across any replicas, I will try to make a video about it.

Asics now handles about 40% of production in Vietnam, where wages had until recently been low. It also has factories in Indonesia and China.
So, it isn't a strong evidence nor an indication of genius.
