I don't think Fiona really understands how loved she is for the voice to her generation .
Fiona has transcended her generation ....the kind of artist that will always have a following no matter what ...I have a 17 year old sister whose freinds worship Miss Apple! I myself was barely a walking when she debuted but learnt about her from the "cool " music kids at school .....
@@sunnesunne4039 13 year old here, big Fiona Apple fan. I like a lot of experimental hip hop music, and Fiona Apple was my gateway into alt pop
@@epicgamer-2295 She certainly gets to you like a drug. :-)
I'm still as enamored with her now as I was thirty years ago. I only wish they would have fixed her mic in this.
why is she considered such an important voice? is it her lyrics or her singing style? wasn't born in the 90s so not aware of her impact.
This makes my angry gay 90's female alternative rock heart very, very happy.
Mine too!!!! Love them both so much!!
@@comicnicky76 same
...so where my mind went... Do you remember when her debut album dropped? All I had in my CD player on my PC was these two lovely birds. I got ready for school in the morning singing their anthems!
I know Im kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good site to watch new movies online ?
@Brycen Nicolas lately I have been using flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
For those that don't know, the Bootleg Theater is freaking tiny!!! If you were there consider yourselves blessed!
Three of the greats. Shirley Manson, Fiona Apple and Phoebe Bridgers.
That’s what I thought HAHAH
I would add Brody Dalle.
I love Shirley when she goes deep getting close to a Drew Barrymore appreciation rant, epic, cute, endearing, from her heart.
LITERALLY having a religious EXPERIENCE right now!! How did I not know this existed?!? 😩😩😩😩 My Two ALL TIME Queens shared the stage 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Fiona Apple is the true role model. I grew up listening to her music in my teenage years, and had all of her albums. She is just herself, and unique and that's what I love about her. I also got to see her live years ago.
Yes she is, I'm completely inspired listening to her songs too 💓
It was nice to see Fiona Apple and Shirley Manson perform together, given that Fiona tends to shun all publicity and refuses to promote her albums.
Fiona freaking rocks no matter what!
Daria and Jane back at it again
fiona can be so quirky and rockin at the same time
This is probably the sweetest thing I've ever seen. Godamit.
So in love with their chemistry. The looks they give one another. You go girls. I generally live, not vicariously, but this one i will gladly take simply that. Much support and peace and love from me to yas both!
The 90's brought us some AMAZING , TOUGH, UNBELIEVABLY TALENTED Women. What a time ...
Song starts at 3:53 !
Sure, but if Shirley is talking, I'm listening and watching.
Holy shite Shirley! You just described my exact discovery of Fiona! I saw the CD in some random store before she was a household name and bought it entirely on instinct! I think the title Tidal and her eyes had something to do with it as well. 💗Been in love ever since. And always a pleasure to sing along with a woman who's voice is low like mine, which goes for Miss Garbage as well. 💞
I was 16 when I first heard Vow while shooting hoops by myself.
Very powerful.
The song triggered so many nostalgic visions.
I was very numb and depressed at that time.
A few days later, I bought the album.💅
Same ❤ at the age of 15
OMG!!!! I just died and went to HEAVEN!!!
Sorry for misspelling
Props to Shirley for being a leader. When the hand gestures didn't work she lead with her voice. Good one, big sister.
I'm so happy to watch this 💗
My favorite singer, with my favorite band(singer from a band). Two alt rock powerhouses
Damn!
Beautiful violins sounds. Beautiful instruments. Good vocals.
This is a fantastic duet of the two classics female singers in our lifetime, and into the next lifetime!
You Go Girls!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
fantastic writer. her music is incredible.
I'm a horrible singer, and Tidal is the only album that actually makes me want to sing to. I'll turn the music way up and sing it beginning to end. No other album has ever had that effect on me.
I feel like this was so much better live. I dunno the sound was a bit off. But both of them are icons. Fiona is too underrated
Yes there it is! The required ‘underrated’ comment about someone who is universally valued and admired.
This is so great! I had no idea that they even knew each other
Two beautiful souls. Thank you for sharing!
This is amazing.
Las amo siempre las amee me encantaba ambas, buena música
This is awesome- !!!!
Beautiful 💙
omg fiona is a fuggin treasure
This makes me crave new Fiona Apple music ! Please please please Fiona ! Let this be the year she drops a new album ! 6 years is a long long long time !
You'll be getting your wish this year!
oh man u must be so happy
Kevin Patrick Did you hear the new album? It’s pretty good.
This is so beautiful
Fiona is giving me patti Smith vibes ❤🎶🎵
They both are very REAL people. Honest to a fault. Pure.
Wow. Good call! Beautiful.
These two are so badass.
These two talented and absolutely gorgeous women rock
They are perfect to sing this song
yes. two aging sex symbols that can't cope with being disposed by the same industry that made them rich
Fiona- You totally own me.
Imagine enjoying the 90’s and maintaining the same pretty face all through
God I love Fiona so much
Possibly the most iconic performance in rock history. We are all so lucky to have been able to share in the heart that is Fiona Apple!!
Mate it's great but calm down hahaha, most iconic in rock history?
My love bass guitar
You don't own me
I'm not just one of your many toys
You don't own me
Don't say I can't go with other boys
And don't tell me what to do
Don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display 'cause
You don't own me
Don't try to change me in any way
You don't own me
Don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay
I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
To say and do whatever I please
And don't tell me what to do
Oh, don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display
I don't tell you what to say
Oh, don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
I'm free and I love to be free
Wow! This is like "The Expendables" for me, but with my music idols of the 90s! 😁
If that makes any sense...
ICONS
I hate seeing those cellphones, but then I wouldn’t be seeing this if it wasn’t for them 🤔
The truth.
New information.
Does Fiona and Shirley Rock!
Absolutely they rock, I feel it too.
Both women are incredible artists
Very underwelming
❤️
I love them both. They had a huge influence on me as a person and as a musician. But with a packed stage like that: why not use In Ear Monitoring?
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO THE VIOLINIST IS?? I'd like to obtain a copy of that sheet music. It's so beautiful

@@ShellEProductions Awesome job!
The song is a cover, not sure if everyone knew that. It was sung by Leslie Gore back in the 1960s. The sheet music is available online for like $3, or free if you do a little digging. Here is a sweet violin cover to practice to: czcams.com/video/-VlLOmdFuX4/video.html
💖
Ay !!!!!!! 🥰
❤❤❤
I was not ready
Wow.
💯💯💯💯💯💯
Shirley has touched my arm and and Fiona’s... indirectly have I touched Fiona???
By God's law, yes!
I think if I had been there I would have died
Does anyone know what Fiona’s shirt says? I can only see “neel, ortnow” but know I’m missing letters and or context. Thanks.
Look up the news article "Watch Fiona Apple Slam Grammy President With ‘Kneel, Portnow’ T-shirt"
did Shirley Manson say "the greatest white voice"?
Yes, and I agree. Pitchfork also included Fiona un their greatest singers of all time list
Technically she’s not completely white. Her mother is biracial I believe.
Tidal rules, though. 👌
I'm Gen X and know these ladies very well and Shirley is killing it as she always had in her unique way. Fiona reminds me of Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad. Not sure what happened but other than nostalgia.....her performance was far from ok. Not a highlight but to see these lovely ladies still out and about is wonerful!
Nice. Women artist of the 90s were the best.
she's double jointed. so cute when she was little.
The song starts at 3:40. You're welcome 😊
Sadly Fionas mic was way too low and her singing was off because of that.
Does that say "kneel" on her shirt? Why?
Look up the news article "Watch Fiona Apple Slam Grammy President With ‘Kneel, Portnow’ T-shirt"
3:45 start
You can actually hear the vocals on this posting of the same performance: czcams.com/video/RB8oJYItQXk/video.html
Also interesting because what you're hearing from the front row is the same crapped-out monitor mix the singers hear -- untamed plosives and all!
Two very clever girls there.
See Rasputina version
F@#k yazzzz!!! Love them so much my alt icons!!
3:41. You’re welcome.
TBH they kinda butchered this BUT WHO CARES?? I love them both, this was awesome to see.
Kinda?
I think Shirley was too soft and Fiona too hard. Had they both toned it back just a hair it would have been a great performance. I however can't complain too much because I love them both haha.
Love Fiona ! ..... Interresting tank top she has on.... In this wave :ME TOO;Mine would say...Now you kneel before me bast..d
Qué pasó??, No entiendo inglés pero...

i want these women to marry me
Don´t tell me what to say, don´t put me on display? This will have to work both side ladies. The evil is not men nor woman. It´s evil and we are in this together. Don´t get me started on who it started first.
Bruh it's always been harder to be a woman in the world, don't start in with the "both sides" shit. If we are "in this together" don't tell women to shut up and play nice when they express their opinions...
@@llll-mp3ci Harder for you? Work the shame, rather than projecting it onto others. That era has passed.
@@m2pozad Harder statistically for the women of this world. I don't know what "shame" you're talking about.
@@m2pozad Oh not the ugly manhating dyke stereotype. 🙄
@@llll-mp3ci If you don't know the shame, you're not a disciple of male bashing feminists from the 70's, who came out of their closets with shame based vengeance towards the societies that put them there. Nothing today in Los Angeles disadvantages women except the commercialized propaganda stream of contrived female victimhood.
Fiona don’t fuck around
Shirley loves feeding her ego.
im gay
I am sad to admit that I just didn't enjoy their singing in this video. Which no sense because I LOVE hearing Shirley she has always been one of favorite female singers. I'm not so familiar with Fiona but the few songs I've heard her sing were very enjoyable. Maybe it was the quality of the video and sound that took away from their usual high quality singing. I think I will find some other videos of Shirley singing, just to rid myself the memory of this performance
not fions wtf.
Sorry, I like the Lesley Gore version better.
love, love, love FA, but this is a mess. it's clear they can't hear themselves or the other, which is why half of the song is out of key and the harmonies are off. real shame :-(
Agreed! And it isn't a negative thing, it's simply what happened. I hope they have another chance someday to sing together again.
Agreed. It's off key. A lot of singers occasional (or in some cases, always) sing slightly off pitch. The emphasis being 'slightly. It can even sound good - and in any case - wouldn't be obvious to most people. However, if two singers duetting are slightly off key (especially if one is slightly sharp and the other slightly flat), or one is in pitch and the other isn't, it'll make the problem more obvious.
In extreme circumstances, singers shouldn't really need to hear their own voices via amplification - PA or monitors. In circumstances where the backing is too loud, they can resort to 'hearing' or, more accurately, 'feeling' their voices through their skulls which is something we all feel but aren't aware of. We also feel our voices in our heads & chests - try it - hum a low note from deep in your chest and you'll feel it in your ribs. It can be tricky for singers to compete with an overly loud accompaniment but the secret is to cover one ear, especially for the higher and lower pitches. It doesn't look great but it helps because it makes the resonance more obvious.
The most difficult thing for singers to get right in these situations is tone and intensity etc. Singing in key shouldn't be as much of a problem and a lot of singers would be able to sing familiar material from start to finish - in its original key - without even an opening note for guidance. Especially if it's their own material. Asking a good singer to sing slightly off key can be a tough one. This is often as alien to them as asking a tone deaf person to sing in key. There's no more obvious example of the ability of a musician to 'feel' music than Evelyn Glennie, the deaf percussionist. She feels the whole performance - her own plus that of the orchestra, aided with a musical score of course. Look her up on CZcams - some fascinating talks and performances.
@@ShellEProductions that would be absolutely wonderful!
She shouldn't quit her day job 😝
Like most "feminist anthems",
this song was written by men!
I believe it. But that has been the case. Males wishing female psychology included male ideology. Romeo and Juliet, for Christ sake!
Must have been good long ago; this is a little amateurish, band is good though.
Well that was crap
Hm ! What's so special bout Fiona Apple?
Everything, idiot . Nothing you’ll do in your life could begin to compare lmao
I don't like it ,so sorry ,Karaoke ,no dislike though
No. No. Damn it woman bring it down.
Never thought i would say this but i like the Andre Hazes version 10x better. This is absolute crap!
please, don't do this ever again.
The violin is annoying here IMO...
Fiona does not sound good here. Maybe it's just not here genre.
I disagree, it's live, it's punk, it's rock.
