    Great demonstration P.J., most comfortable climber ever. I'm a Lone Wolf climber guy, going back to the Summit because LW is out of business, can't find replacement traction belts for LW.

      XOP is basically the same treestand. The son of the founder of LoneWolf started XOP and used the same designs and everything when the patents ran out i believe. I think their parts are or were interchangeable. Not sure about today but i had both climbers and one time and they were identical

    Summit had a great idea with Explorer SDs that folded down flat... They better get on the ball with things like that... Lightweight and ease of carrying... It seems all they are going on is their name and how comfortable their stands are... I still use my Summits, especially with my rifles... But why bother lugging a 20lb+ treestand when I can use 3 mini sticks (with aiders) and get to 20' no problem?

    Kinda tough carrying 26 pounds, plus pack/extra clothes, water, snacks, harness etc. Like the new bows, manufacturers need to start knocking weight off instead of adding it. Summit is a great stand, however hunting public land an 18lb stand max would be ideal. Private land 4-wheeler dudes--no probs.

  • @garrettstraffon608
    @garrettstraffon608 Před 2 lety +4

    Na that just seems like more to mess with. After 20 years of using mine you know to make it tilt up at the bottom and it will level out. We want lighter. Lighter is what will sell them. But you are right this is the most comfortable stand there is,

    • @pjreilly3997
      @pjreilly3997 Před 2 lety +2

      No doubt, you can get pretty good at figuring out the angle to set the stand at before you climb. But after climbing for 30 years, I can say I have guessed wrong many times, and I either had to climb back down to fix it or I did some things that weren't safe. I wish I had something like this back when I was only using climbers....

    The trigger and pin is the same as the hawk warbird climber. Not a fan of them. I have a viper and a hawk. The viper is 100 times better. I also have the original equalizer and it's a great climber. Just hard to get replacement parts for.

    Hunting is a challenge. It’s like playing chess with Mother Nature, gadgets like this that take the guess work out tarnishes the whole experience imo. Like Pj said in the beginning of the video people can get good at it. Certainly practicing is important

    DO NOT USE THIS STAND, a good friend of mine had the cable snap on him at 30 ft. He almost died, and he’s in the hospital and will most likely never walk without a limp again, so for the love of god, send it back to summit

      Sorry to hear. My buddy is paralyzed from the waist down. Fell out of a home made treestand. Seems to me your buddy didn’t have a safety harness on tethered to the tree. Always connect to the tree the moment you step into the climber and never disconnect until you are back to ground level. If he had a harness on and it was tethered to the tree, he would have been suspended once the stand dropped. Then the suspension relief strap needs to deploy until help arrives. I use the Lone Wolf style tree tether as it moves great and snags nothing. It’s basically a lineman rope with a big stitched eyelet and a small stitched eyelet with a prussic knot and carabiner made from mountain climbing rope. I hope your buddy pulls through. Be safe guys. Climb safe. Don’t be foolish. Go home safely after every climb/hunt.

      @@leatherdaddy4955 My bad back is actually what pushed me to these stands. I just can't sit still or for more than 4 hours on most stands before my back starts hurting. With these Summits, I can sit all day in total comfort. I got some aftermarket backpack straps for mine and I have hauled it over a mile going one way on a route that includes having to go down (on the way in) and up (on the way out) a 100-foot cliff. With the right straps, it hauls just fine.
