Marantz SA-11S1 SACD player. Excellent build & finally a proper differential balanced output on XLRs

  • Good build quality and although it takes its time to read the Table Of Contents, once that is done, it offers instant track access on par with those of late 80s magnetic drives from Philips and Sony. Excellent (for SACD) Hitachi pick up.
Reads anything: SACDs, CDs and CD-Rs with equal ease and laser power is still only around 100µW
Finally - for Marantz - a decent balanced output on XLRs. In olden times, they only ever put in a transformer to create a balanced output and the player as such was single ended. In here they have made a proper differential output. Without a separate 5th and 6th channel for single ended outputs like in Wadia players, but still OK.

I accidentally deleted our conversation...thanks for Sharing your list...! My favorite was a Raysonic CD-168 with burr-brown 1794a and Russian tubes... Cd transport is a BEL-CANTO CD-2 and budget player is the Yamaha CD-S303 with a burr-brown chip. Thanks for your videos.... ! 🍺👍🔈🔈.... !

Beautiful, but a lot of Chips and Regulators. Not my Level, too complicated for me at the moment ;-)

Great video, interesting point you make about the mechanism of these SACD players. I am quite interested in acquiring an SACD player myself, as I have picked up quite a few SACD discs over the past year, mainly from local/regional libraries selling off their CD collections due to lack of interest by the general public.
Do you know of any SACD players that form an exception to the example of this Marantz? Or are literally all of them cheap DVD mechanisms covered up with some aluminium bridge pieces? What about the SACD players from Accuphase, Luxman, etc... do any of them contain a custom high-grade SACD mechanism equivalent to a KSS-190A for instance?
