If Chris in the woodyard still turns to his ultra daily, I know that machine isn't just " entry level" he's split thousands of cords through it and it still keeps on pushing. Nice video Brad, I really like the ultra too 💪🍻
Before Chris @ InTheWoodYard got his 22MB processor, he used to cut and split his firewood where it was going to be stacked. So portability along with speed was an important factor for him.
Chris would split wood and the splitter would move itself when the wood piled up in front of the splitter. To me it’s a commercial splitter if Joe and Chris bothbrsg about it that says it all. It’s a well engineered splitter. Cheers.
I watched every video I could find before pulling trigger and knew it would be a good machine. I was first told is was a 12-14 month wait and I was contacted 8 months later and told my Ultra was entering product Very easy process and it was delivered exactly as relayed to me. Then I ran it and all my expectations were exceeded!! This is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made and it’s actually fun to use. This video is not an exaggeration of its speed or ability!!
I am small time now but like to use good equipment. I have a Timberwolf TW-1 and it is a great machine. I have watched the ultra on many channels and it looks like it would be even better for me. I no longer need a huge machine, but I do need a log lift. Neither my machine nor the Ultra has one. Great video.
I've owned an Ultra for coming up on 2 years. When I first started looking at Eastonmade splitters I thought I needed an Axis or a 12-22 or something along those lines but they are out of my price range for my small operation. I saw the Ultra but I thought it was too small and wouldn't be much of an upgrade from what I was using. Then I saw Chris at In The Wood Yard and boy was I wrong. When I saw the amount of wood he was cranking out with is Ultra I was sold and I put in my order. The Ultra is "basic" when it come to features compared to the other models. No log lift, no hydraulic adjustable wedge, no auto cycle but that's where the basic part ends. It is far from basic when it come to performance and the only thing "entry-level" about the Ultra is the price. There is a little more manual labour compared to other models but it just flat out splits wood fast! Dave
I have an eastonmade Ultra and I love it. Prior to the Ultra I had a super splitter, which just didn't quite meet my expectations. The ultra was a perfect compromise. I can very easily split a cord an hour if the rounds are already bucked up. I typically sell around 35-40 cords of pine for campfire wood every summer, and I tend to start splitting in February/March.
The ultra is a hydraulic machine than can match cycle times of kinetic splitters, but also has the power to push the wood through a 4 way wedge! Great built machine.
I think the Ultra is an awesome piece of equipment! For me, it’s the mobility of it. My property where I harvest firewood is all hills. I have found it more efficient to split the rounds where I fell the tree as apposed to hauling heavy rounds up hills only to dump off at the splitter then move again to stack. Hook the Ultra to an ATV and easily take it to the felling location. I hope to own one someday and say goodbye to molasses type movement of the machine I currently use. I’m not getting any younger and time is a commodity.
That thing is a beast and would be great for a small woodyard business. Have been enjoying all the other videos from the "Fellowship at the Furnace" hope to make it if you do it again. Stay safe.
I love my ultra! Working solo I think it’s just as productive as my 12-22 but easier to use being that it is small and everything is closer to the operator.
Great video..nailed it. Very nice splitter, I can relate to this splitter and video being a single home usage provider. I’d love to own this splitter.👏🏻
Good day Brad…I’m pretty sure I’ve asked Jack the same question but I just can’t tell myself that I don’t want a 12-22 haha. But man that Ultra looks like the best thing for me. I work alone and probably will only do 30 cord a year tops…think the Ultra is my best choice ? I’d like to look at all of them in person and I think Andrew will be at the Loggers Expo in May here in Vermont. You are def pushing me towards an Ultra brother. Great video..many thanks
Well the Ultra is certainly a great machine. If your doing 30 cord a year, the Ultra would have absolutely no problem ripping through that quickly. I would think about the diameter wood you predict that you will be dealing with and whether or not the log lift is required for you.
In the 4 years that I’ve had mine I’m sure it’s split at least 500 full cords. It splits almost everything I throw at it, once a great while I’ll have to use my old 35 ton Huskee for rounds too heavy to lift up to the table or something or is too knotty or stringy like elm or sycamore
Did they ever fix the issue with water getting into the boot of the control valve. Help the new owner out and nut and bolt check it after you used it. Use to be an issue when they first started giving them to you tubers years ago.
I have not heard anything about this issue in quite some time. I'm sure its been dealt with and one of the great things about Eastonmade is their customer service. They take care of any issues basically with no questions asked.
If I had it to do all over again I would have gotten more of commercial splitter with a 4 way wedge but 20 years ago Eastomade was not around. I did what I could do with a box store splitter till I got a processor. If you are starting out get the Ultra you will be 2 maybe 3 times more productiive then I was 20 years ago and time is money
Is the same motor, pump and ram cylinder used on the Axis and Ultra?? I asked Andrew once and he said a longer table can be made for the Ultra which I think would be nice on resplits.👍
Brad, now that you've run the Ultra and the Axis, which one would is the better option for your bundle wood operation? Not that there is a wrong answer with either machine.
I would still say the axis just because of the log lift and the conveyor for how my operation runs. Although if I had the ultra, I could modify my process to work with that as well.
Hi, the ultra is a great machine. I use mine a fair bit. The mobility is key . I see that one has a umbrella holder…. Wonder if that is standard now? I didn’t know it was a option
Nice machine it’s takes a year I heard to get and shipping is very expensive to bad the turnaround time could be quicker and for me it’s one thousand dollars for shipping and I am in northern Wisconsin .
If you weigh the price of a box store splitter now against the build quality and speed of an Ultra, its really not that much of a difference. Box store splitters are between 2k and 2500 now. Thats half the price of an Ultra.
If Chris in the woodyard still turns to his ultra daily, I know that machine isn't just " entry level" he's split thousands of cords through it and it still keeps on pushing.
Nice video Brad, I really like the ultra too 💪🍻
@logcabinfirewood I was impressed when I saw yours in action.
@@make-somedust thanks man, my 9-16 is basically your machine, just a smaller pump and motor. Still a work horse 💪💪
Before Chris @ InTheWoodYard got his 22MB processor, he used to cut and split his firewood where it was going to be stacked. So portability along with speed was an important factor for him.
@@bwillan yeah man, 100% correct. He moved that thing around by hand in the mud for years at his old woodyard
Chris would split wood and the splitter would move itself when the wood piled up in front of the splitter. To me it’s a commercial splitter if Joe and Chris bothbrsg about it that says it all. It’s a well engineered splitter. Cheers.
Thanks for everything Brad. Glad you got to run the machine
I think the ULTRA shines when using the single knife🎉
It certainly does. If the Ultra had hydraulic wedge adjustment, the 4 way would be much better and produce less scrap.

For sure!
Big work table and lots a speed seem to set that apart from a lot of the larger more expensive splitters out there . Nice demo Brad
Thanks 👍

What a great tutorial for the Ultra!!
Thanks so much!
Great video Brad! Ultra really does crank out the wood.
Great video today Brad Definitely is an awesome splitter! 🔥💯👍. Always fun watching the ultra work! Enjoyed the visit! Take care! Andrew from NB :)
Glad you enjoyed it

Good Morning Brad, Definitely agree with you, The Ultra is versatile splitter 👏🪵🇺🇸
I love my ultra! Working solo I think it’s just as productive as my 12-22 but easier to use being that it is small and everything is closer to the operator.
They are great. A lot of people underestimate the power of this little beast. That’s why we own one. Hahaha.
Great video thank you. Was assembly required
No assembly at all
Brad, all you have to do is at any of Chris in the wood yard and how long he’s owned it 😮😊❤

If that log splitter would have a cylinder on the wedge, it would be awesome

Yes same motor and pump, but the axis has a large hydraulic oil tank
@@FirewoodattheFurnace Copy...most likely for the additional cylinder on the lift!👍
How long of pieces will that split?
That is a awesome machine. Looks like something I can handle. The 12- 22 is a great machine but I think to much for me to handle.
The ultra would be perfect Deb
Cycle time means everything my small splitter is around 8 seconds and would totally like to upgrade to an ultra
Brad going to become an in stock dealer for Eastonmade! That would be nice to have someone stateside to get machines from
Lol
The ultra is a nice machine I wish they still had the honda engine on it not a Briggs fan
Great splitter, nice job. Do you have specs on ultra & 12-22 width & length. Just nice to know for storage etc.
Hey, I'll get those for you!

Yes I’m pretty sure they add that to all the machines now
@@FirewoodattheFurnace does your axis have a umbrella holder?
Be a patriot get a wolf ridge
Wolferidge makes great machines but not like an eastonmade in my opinion for a variety of reasons. I have no question about my own patriotism
Nice machine it’s takes a year I heard to get and shipping is very expensive to bad the turnaround time could be quicker and for me it’s one thousand dollars for shipping and I am in northern Wisconsin .
The wait time is significantly less now. 8-10 weeks
You can always drive and pick them up.
I appreciate that thanks 🙏
Fast is great...but my uncle lost a thumb to a splitter, and it was slow...so beware
I sense an Eastomade dealership coming to the east coast???
😂🤣
Brad can I get a 6 way wedge with the ultra
Very informative and entertaining . Thank you. About how much does it cost? Please. Craig Pa.
Right now it’s listed at 5,100 on their website
@@FirewoodattheFurnace thanks for getting back to me
If I were fat with cash . I would probably get one seen them on lots of video. But while we are dreaming would go with Axes

Brad ULTRA just need the Diesel engine on it . 😊
