MTH Union Pacific U50C 5010 20-2542-1 [1080p]

Here's a short video of my MTH U50C. If you know the U50C, you'll probably notice some slight variations on this model. I reconstructed this from the ground up and used available parts from MTH. I originally bought this as a bare chassis with the two smoke units which I intended to use for other PS3 upgrade projects as the price was right. After looking at the bare chassis for years, I came across a NOS shell and grabbed it, again for a fair price. I had motors and trucks and used the truck sides from an SD-45, font and rear pilots from other models. The handrails were also missing from this chassis and they are not part of the shell. I made these myself out of brass stanchions and thin brass bar stock. The rails were built to a picture of the 1:1 loco and Harbor Mist Grey and Herald Yellow paint used where needed. I added a PS3 upgrade unit to it. If I can dig up pics, I'll prob make a vid showing the build.

Thanks Hunter! There is some really cool stuff in those catalogs! The one thing that really caught my eye was that 3-way curved turnout towards the end of you last vid. Would love to try and get one of those on my layout somewhere! :) I broke the bank with the 2022 Lionel catalog and two new big boys. I would love to get the new Triplex in latest catalog, but need to hold off for sometime before getting anymore new BTO Lionels :( I have quite a few MTH project diesels on my bench right now. Those should keep me busy for a while :)
