ELPHNT is definitely one of the Ableton GOATs. I've probably learned more from him than anyone else on YT. I recommend checking out his workflow livestream if you find yourself struggling to get organized in Ableton.
Algorithm must have bumped this one for some reason. Always great to refresh the mind with this particular video!
Greatest inspiring Ableton Video, jet. Thanks.
The 'Up/Down' to jump the loop bracket by it's own length = mind blown! Thanks ELPHNT!
I find it a lot easer to use the mouse to drag the black line to the preferred position. No need to use keyboard at all.
This video is a gem for Ableton users. How this video doesn't have millions of views is beyond me..
Yeah Dude - this is seriously one of the best tutorials for Ableton I've seen... and I'm a very seasoned user. Bonus points for the South African accent too!!
Your vids are great. And I really appreciate you not hitting us with all kinds of ads. 👍🏿
The legends says, he is still creating Midi tracks.

I'm new to Ableton Live and this is pure gold dust!
Glad you enjoyed it Alec! It's definitely a great gateway for lots of people that have never tried out Ableton Live
@@dBsInstitute I'm a guitarist, currently on a (sometimes frighteningly!) steep learning curve with Push 2 and Live 11. I built my first computer in 1979, and started using MIDI and Pro 24 (the predecessor to Steinberg's Cubase) around 1986, but fell out of love with using computers for music after losing so many takes, so much time and effort, even whole projects, due to computer crashes and hardware failure - and have only recently dared to return. Wow - how everything has changed!
Awesome!!
This was great!
Finally get to see your face :p Awesome btw!
Nice one
Thanks very inspirational
Bravo!

5 minutes in, mind blown . I mean I knew such capabilities existed ...but to bus the midi channels :0
Ableton is amazing
It really is! Check our Sovryn's B.O.T.A. remix track breakdown series as well. That was all done in Ableton and we have a new video in the series dropping tomorrow!
amazing workshop, definitely learned a lot from this! Also great to finally put a face to that voice
nice!
Cool
Thank you for this video 🙏but I have a question. Can I do everything you explained in this class with Ableton standard?
Yes - the main difference between Standard and Suite is the some of the instruments and Max For Live.
You can see all the details here: www.ableton.com/en/live/compare-editions/
🎼🥇👌🏻
Great, but where to get this Drums instrument 11:52 ? Or maybe you made this preset from the drum rack ??
i learned about random forsure
EDIT: Amazing tutorial - thank you! Btw when adding Tuner at around 31:55 at the video after my Simpler track with field recording inside of it - Tuner does not register sound and does not show any nones that are being played (even if I try lowering or rising the octaves)?
Answer: I read that it could be due to a lot of sonic information coming from a field recording used that was inserted into Simpler, but I am looking for a more elaborate answer if anyone knows..
Also can someone point me to some tutorial on how to make "Change sample" macro function that is being used in the video? :)
Hey I have a midi controllers with endless knob. I am trying to use those knobs for my fx but the knobs are either crazy fast, slow or jumpy. How do I control the speed of the knobs and keep them from going haywire?
Are these racks with all of those samples come with ableton??
Another good generative process for drum beats that I got from Doc Mckinney (Esthero, The Weeknd): if you have the Fishman Tripleplay, you can use your guitar as a midi controller. I am 1000x better at guitar than piano, synth, or Push2 and it allows me to create natural grooves from drum kits that are also hella creative. Try it out!
why cant i find this closed/open hihat icon thing in my ableton?
Is there a way to get your velocity to modulate the decay time? For instance a higher velocity will have a slightly higher decay time and a low velocity will tighten the hi hats up? I'd rather do that than drawing in automation. I tried Vel>Time in sampler but couldnt get satisfactory results.
Actually I figured it out, using the Max4Live device Expression Control. And wouldn't you know it, our man ELPHNT here has a whole article on his site about this device as well as numerous racks involving it to download. What a guy. As soon as I get gigs back I'm buying something from his store.
I'll smoke a fat blunt and watch the master inspire
Hey! It's me 🙌🏻🐘🎉
Finally took the time to try this out. Omg, It's brilliant. Btw, love being in your mailinglist. Pretty litt :) Keep it up
@@samuelnaesen1176 Awesome! Thanks 😃
Really awesome. Thank you!
Are you wearing authentic elephant wool in the video!?
very inspiring thank you for all those ideas around randomness.
