    I made a video on all the reasons that make me feel like Italy ISN'T the best choice for your move abroad here ( • CONS of Living in Ital... ) and also sharing small moments that have given me a reason to dislike living here (at moments). Ciao for now!

    👩🏾‍🦱 ABOUT ME 👩🏾‍🦱
    Ciao y'all! My name is Kenya, and I'm an American living in Rome, Italy sharing my experiences and travels while living abroad. After beginning my obsession with Italy at the young age of 9 years old and visiting for the first time during a study abroad/Erasmus vacation about 5 years ago, I hatched a plan that somehow... someway... I would make it to Italy, and here I am!

      Thanks so much! Regarding Italian, don’t worry! I want to give you some advice that helped me-- no one ever told me learning a language is like being on a roller coaster! You have good days and will remember all the vocabulary words and grammar and bad days where you can barely remember your name. 🤣 Here I am, over four years later, and it’s still like that. Less bad days, but still. Don’t worry too much!

    Nice video! If you live in Rome you can also go skiing on the Apennines, much closer than the Dolomites. Many Romans go to Abruzzo for that. You should try! Of course this winter season was ruined by Covid, let's hope next one will be back to normal...

    • @NaturallyKenya
      @NaturallyKenya  Před 2 lety +3

      Ciao! So, there are some coworking spaces that come at a cost, but I honestly feel like their isn’t really a work from a cafe/Starbucks vibe like in The States, for example. Haha! People drink their coffee and go 😂, so I’d honestly say find an apartment that has a lot of natural light and maybe and extra room that you can dedicate to work! I think it’d be more comfortable. Just my opinion. 😂

    Hi Kenya! Thank you for creating awesome content about Italia. I lived in Milan about a year ago for a year ha, and planning to move back in a couple years to do my masters as you did. The question I have is, can you explain the process of getting a job or how to find one while pursuing a master's degree to stay long-term? Thank you for your time and hope all is well!

    • @NaturallyKenya
      @NaturallyKenya  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Katalina! Well, after completing your master’s degree, you will have the ability to get a one-year Looking For Work visa, so that’s an option. Looking for a job has been made much more difficult due to the pandemic, not impossible, but even worse than before, in my opinion. Long-term stay is challenging, so I’d say focus on the short-term, be open to other opportunities, and whatever happens, happens! Thanks so much for watching!

    Hi, I enjoy all your videos and I'm glad you are so well set in Italy. I just wanted to make a correction, not a criticism, where you talk about the national health system and say: "by registering with the national health service ... etc etc". This sentence understood literally can mislead foreigners who, seeing your video, understand that to take advantage of health care you have to "register", that is, apply for it on your own initiative. Instead, in Italy the national health service, being a constitutional right, is automatic for all citizens, and cannot be renounced. It is acquired at birth without making any requests to anyone. Even the foreigner, (with a residence permit) enjoys the same right and everyone gets the card at home, I repeat, without making any request. It is in no way an insurance, albeit free, which must be "stipulated". The card arrives at home on the mailbox and that's it.

    • @NaturallyKenya
      @NaturallyKenya  Před 3 lety +2

      Ciao Carlo! Thanks for your comment and for providing some clarification. In my Cost of Living in Rome video I linked, I discuss more in detail than here about the Italian healthcare system, but I do want to mention that as a foreigner you aren’t supposed to be able to acquire the permesso di soggiorno (residence permit), without agreeing to enroll/enrolling in the Italian health care system. For example, with my study visa application, I had to pay to register with the Italian National Health Service (SSN) before applying for a residence permit (permesso di soggiorno). The permesso shouldn’t be issued without the proof I had enrolled. It really went hand in hand. Of course, if an emergency happened and I hadn’t enrolled, I would still be covered. I hope that provides a bit of clarification on what I meant and of course I appreciate the feedback! Funny thing is, I STILL haven’t received my tessera sanitaria, and it’s been over 4 years. 😂😂 Thanks so much for watching my videos.
