- In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart welcome friends and patrons Martin and Margaret back to the chateau. Martin volunteers to take on the chateau moat by clearing it all out and discovering what secrets it may be hiding. Patrick finds an old copper printing plate buried in the garden of the chateau gîte, and Stuart and Margaret get out the printmaking supplies to make relief art prints from this original 19th century engraving by French engraver and illustrator Charles Barbant. They also make a shopping trip to a local Emmaus, and Patrick and Stuart find and return some local dogs that had gone missing.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château or castle in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

With your dogs lined up at the gate I was expecting Julie Andrews to start singing ..."Doe a deer, a female deer, Rae a drop of golden sun....".....
🤣
That is the cutest and most wonderful comment. Thank you so much. I’m sitting here smiling from ear to ear. Love from Colombe. ❤❤❤
The dogs at the gate was the cutest. I had to rewind to see it again!
Yes! So precious!
@@JoanneHildtI did too. So cute. ❤❤
You two are like a dog haven for lost dogs , it's so sweet. I'm so glad you got them back to their owner. Such a happy ending bless you both x
Wow! What a terrific find in that printing plate. You need to add prints of that to your online store! 🥰❤
Hi Dodi. Sorry I had some connectivity issues today. 😮 it was quite a surprising find. Once we knew it was a printing plate I immediately knew it was the Opera Garnier in Paris. 😮😊😮. Good idea. And since we own the plate, we are allowed to! 😉😍🥰. Hugs and love from us.
I would also love an opportunity to purchase a print
In high school art class, we carved out linoleum and glued it to wood blocks, we used rollers like what you were using. : ) What a lucky find : )
@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 The provenance alone makes this so special but it really is a gorgeous print! I'm saving for my purchase as we speak!
Wow!!! That guy deserves a gold medal!!! What back breaking work!
The picture of the dogs along the gate is priceless. 💕. Cleaning up the moat added so much curb appeal as well. Well done Martin , 👏👏
Well done Martin indeed. Fantastic work. And yes, the dogs along the gates are just a joy. ❤❤❤
Prints are fantastic! You should sell them.
Good idea!
Thank you so much. Great advice. 👍🏻🥰👍🏻
Look at all those cute faces at the gate ❤❤❤❤❤!
love to see all your dogs healthy
Aren’t they adorable. Made me smile to see the vlog with them peeking out the gate. 😂. ❤❤❤❤
@@rociobymiroit is wonderful. ❤❤❤
The moat looks awesome cleared out. Martin did such a good job! Sounds like you will have a chateau filled with guests and family real soon. Glad that the gite is already working for you for paying guests. The lost dogs must have wanted to join your dogs and be their friends? You would be the ones to bring them home!
Isn’t the moat just fantastic? Martin and Margaret are such wonderful people. We are excited to have the chateau come to life again. Dinner parties are planned and bed linens washed and ironed……. Bedrooms, even though not renovated are decorated.
And returning the dogs….. what a joy. Love from Colombe. 😊❤😊
Wonderful and delightful episode. From the print plate found, moat cleared, dogs returned to their owner, and your AB&B rented.
You are both a joy!
You are so kind and we are thankful for your wonderful comment. ❤😊❤
OMG! Your volunteers have done so much! Every day your chateau gets more and more beautiful.
They are wonderful and have helped a lot. Thank you so much. ❤😊❤

Dogs at the gate. I can’t even…. Simply adorable.
Moat looks amazing and the print, what a find!
What a fantastic job Martin did on that moat, it looks fabulous!! Glad you were able to return the lost dogs. Stuart did not wear a hat today😢
Hi Sonia. Martin is a wonder. What a great worker and also a wonderful friend. As is his wife, of course. We need to get some more hats for Stuart. Hugs. ❤❤❤

Wouldn’t a copy of the print make a lovely host/hostess gift when you visit all your other chateau friends? What a find! The dogs at the gate were precious.
It sure would be a great gift. 🥰👍🏻🥰
The chat was so fat, I had to rewatch so I could see them too 😂. 😊😊
Doesn't finding that printing plate make you wonder if there are more??? It does me! The prints might be able to be sold in your gift shop as well.
@@kathrynriggs2489I was wondering that too. Well, I’m looking out for more. ❤😊❤
How wonderful the lost dogs were reunited with their owner 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Love happy endings ❤❤❤❤❤
Martin was a machine on the moat - looks great.
Martin did a fantastic job on the dry moat!!!
Life is certainly dramatic when you own a chateau in France! I am glad the doggies were found. Thank you for the video!
Hi Daniel. 😂. That is a spot on statement. We are happy that we could reunite the dogs and their owners. Huge hugs as always. ❤❤
Hi Patrick & Stuart , how wonderful to find the gorgeous printing plate & even better to be able to print out a wonderful picture you can frame !
The mote, that Martin cleared looks amazing ! & just loved the dogs peering through the gates !

You are blessed with great friends. Loving and caring people. Martin tough guy. Great worker..🇺🇸😎🌹🌹
Clearing out that most must have been such a satisfying job!! Well done Martin!
Well done indeed and he should be very proud. It looks fantastic ❤
Your flowers are gorgeous!
Congrats on your first Air B and B guests and all your accomplishments. Martin and Margaret are a Godsend. I miss the red pups running in the yard. How very nice you were able to repay finding Nessa with helping two other dogs finding their way back to home and safety.
We all miss you….especially Hamish, Pippi, O’Shea and our little trouble maker JoJo. They miss their pets.
Hope to speak to you soon.
Thank you, Carol! Love and miss you guys! ❤️
Wow what a job your friend did on the beautiful moat. 👏👏👏👏👏🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾💐🥰🇨🇦♥️♥️
Lovely as always. ❤ You have a moat?? Who knew?? Well done, Martin! It looks just fabulous. Martin and Margaret are both angels. ❤
More rescued babies. It’s like you’re running a shelter for wayward dogs. 😊
Your gardens are looking just lovely.
🌹🌸🌺🌷🌼 Our trees are finally blossoming but we’re still waiting on the flowers to start popping up. We have two lilacs in our back yard that are just glorious. In fact, all of the bushes and trees in our yard are currently in bloom. It smells delightful. But both of our yards are in desperate need of help, so we are getting to work. I’ll send pics in emails once we’ve made some progress.
Big hugs to you both. ❤❤
Love the look of the moat.
Seeing the dogs reunited with their owner brought tears to my eyes. You two are truly loving souls !!!
The dog's at the gate is adorable. So cute
So jealous of your Pierre Ronsard roses! How beautiful.

That most looks good cleaned out makes the entrance look more welcoming. Those sweet faces of those dogs lined up at the gate just gorgeous
Good morning Patrick & Stuart, what a most pleasant video. So much happened!! First and foremost the discovery of the antique printing plate. I was astonished. Good grief what a find. Margaret seems to be a wonderful person as well. Preparing the printing press and just enough ink to show the exquisite Paris Opera House. What more do you want?? Martin did a grand job in clearing the moat, unbelievable how grasses can take over. All the dogs standing up looking through the gate was priceless. They sure like to keep an eye on developments at the Chateaux. Finding the stray dogs and getting them inside was a miracle. Just as well the owner drove around making enquiries otherwise you would not have been any the wiser. Good job, well done and got them back to the much relieved owner. It seemed you had little time for touch down but all in all the discovery of the plate print was unique and awesome. That can become a piece for exhibition somewhere, maybe the grand salon where it will get the attention it deserves with a hanging portrait of the same print. Things sure are happening at a fast rate now. Take care, many blessings, kind regards. E
Yes, we definitely have a lot going on! Thank you! 💕😍
It’s so obvious you are dog lovers.❤The black lab was so glad you were there to pet him Patrick…..mum wasn’t too pleased with him😕❤️
Oh my lord - those puppies peering through the gates!!!! So freaking adorable! You should sell the prints - they’re beautiful!
The dogs are a hoot. So cute. And the plate……. What a surprise. Who expects that while gardening? 😂. Hugs from Colombe.
Strimming? We call it what it is in Canada, weed whacking!! So happy that you were there to see the puppies and get them back to their mommy! I think they call that playing it forward. Good job Stuart.
Those sweet pups looking through the gate should be a Christmas card? So precious!
That is a great idea. Thank you so much. ❤❤❤
What an amazing job Martin did clearing the moat out and I Love the prints. Gorgeous shot of your dogs at the gate. Made me smile. So pleased you managed to reunite the two missing dogs with their owner. 😊
Dear Patrick and Stuart, Martin made the circular moat absolutely stunning. The stone walls are shockingly completely intact. Your babies peaking through the gate is the cutest thing I ever saw. Many years ago I did etchings on zinc plates, using acid baths to etch into the plate. I loved the process but it became difficult when I no longer had the huge roll printer, but I see Margaret’s portable one does the trick beautifully. What a beautiful print. It’s really a treasure to have found the plate the way you did, and end up with a beautiful old work of art. I felt your joy for being able to return the dogs to their owner. It is emotional. By the way, the farmhouse kitchen is beautiful. You have made it the prettiest guest house. See you on Friday. Stay well. xx
Thank you, Stephanie! 💕
My heart nearly melted when I saw all your cute, cute doggies poking their little noses out of the gate❤ What a great job your visitor made of the moat. Your beautiful roses looked so perfect 🌹 🥀 and you got the two pets back to their owners.😊
Let me thank you for your absolutely wonderful comment. Hugs. ❤😊❤
You could make shopping bags , tea towels and more of the print of the dogs at the gate so cute.
Your moat looks wonderful. What a nice man to do all that work.
You should have down several in red ink and. Blue like her dress. Even fabric for napkins or placemats I was blown away. Loved them. Wonderful. Endless ideas.❤❤❤❤
Love your ideas and input. Huge thank you. ❤😊❤
How wonderful that you got to return those two lovely dogs to their owner. I would have cried a little myself if I'd been there. Thank you for being such good neighbors and saving the lives of the dogs.
Thank you Carole. We feel blessed that we could help the dogs find their way home. Hugs from Colombe ❤❤
Oh my goodness just incredible engraving plate. Just fascinating that after all this time it's just beautiful reprint.
That's so cool the engraving of the Opera Garnier in Paris. What an amazing find !!!!
Discovering that printing plate??!! Amazing !
Returned dogs 🐕 were just incredibly amazing loved watching the ⛅️ clouds listening to the music looking at the flowers I got lost in your video, I loved your video .
Oh my the picture of all the dogs at the gate watching Martin work was beautiful! I hope you also got a photograph of it. Martin made a beautiful job of the moat. Will you be able to maintain it with everything else you have on the go? That print is spectacular. Well done with the production Stuart. That was wonderful that you were able to keep the dogs until their owner could collect them. Having a beloved pet going missing is heartbreaking. I couldn’t stand it. So looking forward to seeing the latest renovations. Having a home that you love and enjoy is so very important. Have been through major renovations for a fairly large home in the past, but now in a small rental, which I love, and the decor and comfort is every bit as important to me. Home is home wherever you’re at peace and happy. ❤
Oh wow 👌 the dry moat rock walls the gates just beautiful
I'd be in that mote helping , if I was there. It looks so much better and with winter coming it will help with any excess water . I love doing that sort of thing, and what an amazing find . I love the print too 😍
way to go Martin! Fabulous!
Well done guys. You saved the doggies ❤ the moat looks fantastic thanks to your lovely visitors 🤩
Thank you so much. Happy for the dogs and owners. We love the cleaned up moat. ❤🎉❤
Thanks again for sharing your home with us!
You must do whatever you need to do, as the rest will come in time.
Oh wowser the print looks awesome 😊 what a great find , fantastic job Margaret and Stuart ... Wow Martin did an incredible job with the moat , it looks fabulous. Well done ... the roses look gorgeous ❤
Omg how wonderful the dogs came to you! What an amazing feeling to be able to help your locals and return that lady's beloved dogs, I too know how gutting it is when your dog is lost, honestly wow! And boy isn't it lovely to see that moat cleaned up!? 😍 If you can get help to repair what needs to be done so you can fill it up with water for summer that will be beautiful but most of all really handy for wildlife, pollinators, and extra irrigation in case of a dry spell, like it's great to have an outlet for overflow when you get these torrential rains! It really makes the place look very well looked after too. Your garden blooms are beyond stunning!!!
The size of those roses abd Iris.... And all of them pupps in a row 😍
I'm so jealous of that printing press, ooh been wanting one for ages, but they're so expensive... Fantastic find "in the bush" I mean, what are the odds of that?! Brilliant to be able to make prints! That's a piece of art with a good story for sure!
Get a nice gold frame at brocante and have it framed with a colored passe-partout and it will pop on any wall (or several guestrooms for example, you can match the colored paper to the room scheme and include the info in your rooms pamflet of information, B&B guests love that sortof thing!)
I'm still ripping down wallpaper on my own, with busted hands, much more work than I expected but the light pouring in for every panel of the dingy dark grey taken down is glorious and keeps me going! 💪 Loved tidays vlog guys, good luck with your guests now, see you soon! Love/Jo 💕🕊️😘
Thank you so much, Jo! ❤️
How cute! . the dogs at..the gate!!..how wonderful the print. Turned out!!
Thank you for the demonstration of printing. This a real treasure find on your property. 😊
So nice how you two look out for other people ❤❤
Hi Patrick and Stewart 🙌. What an amazing find. This will now be something you add to your renovation. As is now part of your find and history you both create.
400 years! And then make a find like that that has no place in your place. But! Maybe it did.
Wonderful work to start removing the brambles and leaf fall. A bridge with gates always said a moat. You’ll probably find some sink holes either side as it’s still done today.
With the dogs! What goes around comes around ❤️
Love you both! 🫶
So glad you didn't toss the printing plate by mistake! The moat is gorgeous. M&M are amazing people to help you. I'm sure the pups owners were so thankful that you saw them. Good luck with your gite rental this weekend. How awesome to get it rented so fast😉
The dogs lined up by the gates was precious.
Margaret and Martin are incredible.
The flowers, moat, and slate art are awesome.
Glad you rescued the dogs. Bless you.
I am in hospital and not doing well. I had emergency surgery for bacterrmia rectal abscess. It is so painful. I may need a colon bag to help it heal. I am high surgery risk. Please keep me in your prayers. Love to you both. ❤
Thank you, Peter. Wishing all the best for you. 🙏🙏
Enjoyed seeing the moat exposed and developing of the artwork. It's amazing you were able to print from the printing plate (and it wasn't thrown away). But I have to admit, returning the lost dogs was the best part and pulled at my heart.
That is a FANTASTIC PICTURE PLATE ,wow. I think u guys could make money with the prints framed!! Perfect job Stewart!!
Wow, what a beautiful engraving of the Paris Opera House. The prints are magnificent. Perhaps a copy for your patreons? The moat! Great job Martin. Lovely result for the dogs and their owner.
You two are too adorable! I smile the whole way through. Thank you for brightening my day xx
Hi from Apple Blossom time in Vermont! Every other tree is filled with glorious pink and white blossoms, lilacs just about to burst too.Heaven!
Hi Kate. That sounds absolutely fantastic. Enjoy. ❤😊❤
The order of your projects of renovation is practical for your home and business. Your puppies looking out of the gate was adorable 😍 💕! They are so curious. They're not going to miss a thing that is happening! You have a lovely family and home. The chateau is beautiful .
What an amazing job by Martin! Kitchens looking great and those dogs can’t get any cuter!
Hi Lynette. Martin did an amazing job indeed ❤. We love being in this kitchen. It’s truly the most used room
I really, really love the prints you made from the engraved plate!!!!
Your kitchen looks fab. This property is a lifetime project. Don’t let people (us) rock the boat for you.
You are so kind. Super. Thank you very much. Your comment means more than you can imagine. Hugs ❤❤
The gite kitchen is lovely.
Love the moat work! Doggies peeking through gate were adorable. I would not have appreciated the plate as much had I not just returned from seeing the Palais Garnier....even with the facade repair work covering it, it was fabulous in person.
Yep, a tear here over the found dogs and their reunion with the owner. How very touching and lucky. Loved seeing your fur babies at the Chateau gates, they must be so much fun to have around. WOW! The moat, I cant believe how quickly is was uncovered or the impact it has already, it looks like Colombe is wearing a beautiful necklace now. I do hope it fills for you. The print plate is amazing, what a find!!! So much can be done with it from textiles, post cards, coffee mugs to wallpaper! So much going on in this episode. I always love the outings. Martin & Margaret are so lovely. Thank you guys 😘😘
Thank you, Cliff! 🥰
Cleaning out the moat would have been the perfect job for me. I'm super OCD.
A fantastic vlog! So much happening. The dogs at the gate, OMG cute!!
And I got teary at the happy ending for the two lost dogs💗
The dogs at the gate❤❤❤
What a beautiful dry moat !
Great finds the artistic plate and moat cleared looks so great cleared.
Hi guys! I love the brief clip of the bebes all lined up, standing on their hind legs so as to see what was going on. 😂adorable and funny. They are charmers.
How beautiful the print is. Great find.
oh my gosh Martin!!!!! wow!!!
What a week! Full of fun and adventure. Martin what a grate job you did on the mote and Margaret you did an awesome job on that beautiful print! I hope Stuart and Patrick you will be selling those prints in the future they are absolutely marvelous! I am so happy they were able to get the dogs back to the owner, so sweet! Be well my friends till the next video, can’t wait.
Thank you so much Joaquina. I love your comment. Hugs from Colombe. ❤😊❤
The roses are beautiful...go all the best with your rental.
Thank you. They smell fantastic. Thank you. ❤😊❤
Gosh ! That moat came up looking amazing!
What a marvelous find. Love the prints.
Just want to say how much I enjoy your vlog. Finding that printing plate is simply amazing. I had a little tear at the finding of the dogs. Thank you for your lovely channel. No need to justify your priorities, I am always astounded at the audacity of people to criticize others. Would that I had the courage to undertake what you two have chosen to do!
Wow a printing plate what a find and to get a print from it incredibly love the print and yes the undergrowth another wow the moat almost a digress at times Patrick ah the skies you have the roses no black spot so envious I can digress as well and what a wonderful reunion with the dogs oh did I say love the video
It’s probably all been said before but what a week! Cutest line up of pups I’ve ever seen, gorgeous healthy looking roses, a friend indeed (or two) doing a magnificent job of clearing the awesome ancient moat and assisting printing a fantastic historic plate, rehoming two lost pets and getting great Air B&B results!! Wow, when you see it all listed like this, it is a mighty satisfying week all round wouldn’t you say? 💐🖼🐕🦺✈️👏❤️
I’d say that you summed it up perfectly. And it is great to read your comment. Thank you so very much. ❤😊❤
The moat looks great and I can’t believe how sturdy the walls have remained. I really like the Copper plate prints. They are truly lovely. I was touched by your assistance with the two dogs, as they were so happy to see their mom, even though they were like Nessa with the exploration desires. They realize that it’s better to be home, although the instinct may rise again. The flowers are glorious! Take care my friends, Ralph Rocchiccioli
Dear Ralph. Thank you so much. The walls are truly a miracle in endurance. The prints are really pretty. What a find. It was a joy to reunite the dogs with their mom. Many memories came back up. The pain and anxiety and the joy as well. So glad you enjoyed the episode. Hugs. ❤❤❤
Hello you two gorgeous men .What an amazing week .The prints so so amazing . gosh the first renters what an honor for them . Thank you for sharing I am amazed at all you do. love and hugs
Hi Patrick and Stuart what a find with the slate something to treasure lovely piece of art work I didn’t even realise that you had a moat but I have to say it makes it look so nice out the front of the chateau it’s so nice that you can now have guests staying at last and to have them stay and help you around the chateau is even better I love all the dogs lined up I did notice the dog ornament on the side of your kitchen very good so glad you found the dogs and they got home safely the owner was very pleased to have them back
Hi darling. Thank you for such a wonderful comment. The moat is such an bonus. And returning the puppies was a blessing. Huge hugs ❤😊❤
The music you have paired with your video is enchanting ❤🎉
The print turned out to be a stunner! Martin is a very hard worker or just mad or a bit of both! The moat looks great!

One of the most fabulous and exciting finds ever - it was so much fun watching the moat being rediscovered I had to view it twice! Just can't wait to see it's progress and return. Well done all!
